Another Shelvey type signing , not cheap and past it
Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
If we signed Oxlade-Chamberlain that would be our 2nd player involved with a member of Little Mix.
Could be some kind of PL club / girl group first.

People turning their nose up at the potential of chamberlain, can’t figure out why.
It was the same in summer 2023, we were linked with Milner, Evans and Dier. All would of added much needed experience to our squad.
Had Redmond not got a freak injury I think he would of been an important player in our 23/24 especially when performances picked up second half of the season

Interesting times at Besiktas, wouldn't be surprised to see him playing in England again very soon, whether its for Burnley only time will tell.
In the 20 months that Oxlade-Chamberlain has been at Besiktas, there have been nine managers, with none lasting more than 20 games. Last summer, just 12 months into his three-year contract, Oxlade-Chamberlain was frozen out by the club as they attempted to shift his reported £70,000-a-week wages.

If I’m honest he could be for us this season what Barkley was for Luton last year.billyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 22, 2025 9:12 pmInteresting times at Besiktas, wouldn't be surprised to see him playing in England again very soon, whether its for Burnley only time will tell.

Wasn't Zaha interviewed this summer about links back to Palace and he said he couldn't go back to a club he loved as his legs have gone? Or not the same as they were when he played for them.

If you mean he could feature in 32 league games and get around half a dozen goals you would be right. Is that what you think?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 22, 2025 9:21 pmIf I’m honest he could be for us this season what Barkley was for Luton last year.

Certainly got it in his locker.

100% agree with names mentioned , was going to post earlier that VK didn’t get PL experience in the 2023 summer transfer window, although I don’t think VK liked old heads and probably wouldn’t have used Redmond much.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 22, 2025 9:02 pmPeople turning their nose up at the potential of chamberlain, can’t figure out why.

If a top class experienced pro has had a good injury record throughout their career and they are enticed to end their career with us while we are at the top then it doesn't take much thinking about.
It does seem however that when they have had persistent injuries they are best left alone

Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
His track record is a difficult one to judge in my opinion.
Purely down to the fact that he was playing for the premier league title chasers as a bit part player.
The seasons where he played fairly regularly (17-18 to 19-20) he was averaging a goal contribution every 300 mins. Over a full season that would equate to circa 11 goals.
I think he’s got goal scoring contributions in his locker. For me the big question mark has always been fitness. For a 31 year old he has actually played very little football, roughly 220 professional games (the vast majority of them as a sub).
For context McNeil is nearly 7 years younger and has played more.

Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
Definitely feasible as he played with Parker in the same England side back in the day.
Would be a quality addition IMO, not least for his PL experience and only 31.

Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
He's scored 20 PL goes in 12 seasons playing for Arsenal and Liverpool. The most PL goals he's scored in a season is 4. In only one of those 12 seasons has he played 32 or more games. That's his track record.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 22, 2025 10:17 pmHis track record is a difficult one to judge in my opinion.

You’re taking all context out of it. As you said he’s played for two of the best clubs in England his entire career.
Ross Barclays stats from Chelsea are almost a carbon copy of Chamrberlain at Liverpool.
Bit part players. Like I showed I think with a bit of context there’s some promising data there. Similar to with when Barkley left Chelsea to go to Luton

I would suggest 20 goals from 235 PL appearances, with his highest PL goal return of four in a season, playing for two top teams, doesn't suggest scoring half a dozen goals is certainly in his locker.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 22, 2025 10:33 pmYou’re taking all context out of it. By the way, Barkley didn't leave Chelsea to join Luton.

Can I add a few more to the list.

Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
Just had a message from a German friend to say that we have agreed terms with Karlsruhe for Max Weiss, a 21 year old goalkeeper who has a medical booked for Monday. Fee thought to be €5 million and a contract that goes to 2029.

Can the transfer oddballs stick to the other thread to have their petty arguments and leave the “links” thread for those of us who’ve no interest in reading their squabbles?

Not when we haven’t signed a left back. You’d hope that, if a left back is needed, we’d have several irons in the fire up until one was confirmed.burnley007 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 8:37 amSeems odd when we are in the process of signing a LB, but who knows...

We do have some worriers on here-have faith in Pace, Williams & Parker. Mistakes made in recruitment and sales of 2 years ago under VK will have been noted. The club has already put serious price tags on Esteve and Trafford which I am confident will keep the sharks at bay-sadly we weren't in a similar position with CJ

More on Oxlade-Chamberlain from Turkish media…
“SPECIAL NEWS – Burnley starts negotiations with Chamberlain
Emirhan Alkan
23 Jun 2025 00:32
There is an offer to Chamberlain, whose arrival is at a loss every day, earning approximately 3 million 150 thousand Euros including signing money in his contract, and who does not fall off the agenda with his injuries!
Burnley, with whom Beşiktaş made positive contacts in the past due to the Weghorst transfer, is now talking to Oxlade! The English club officially started negotiations with the player yesterday!
The information we obtained as Media Black and White offered Burnley's player a 1+1 year contract from 1.5 million Euros per year including taxes! However, the only condition of the British is that Oxlade solves the contract situation with Beşiktaş! The player side wants the remaining 1.5 million to be covered from Beşiktaş. If the black and whites accept this offer, Oxlade can return to his hometown!”

Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
Oxlade-Chamberlain for free transfer and £30k a week with an option to get out of it after a year, I'd take. With his injury record that's a reasonable risk.

Interesting to see Oxlaide-Chamberlain has mainly played either defensive midfield or standard central midfield in recent times. Could be a shrewd signing. Add Dendoncker for £2-3m and you’ve got some really nice experience in the key area of the pitch.
Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
That was my take as well. It's rumoured that we've offered Brownhill upward of £80k a week to sign, so £30k a week reads as a sensible offer. It'll come down to how much AOC wants to play football, as he'll have enough money to last a lifetime already.
Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
Have we been linked to Dendoncker?
