David Moyes.
given time he would have sorted utd out, not forgetting his lengthy stint at everton without the money his neighbours had every season. worked his way up with some difficult clubs, and had a small taste of european success. great manager .

The main problem with Moyes at United was his almost total clear out of backroom staff.

you may be right, but maybe player power played a part.
