Summer transfer window
Re: Summer transfer window
I think out of the Newcastle players mentioned id only be interested in Willock. Good player him, rate him.
Wouldn't have pope back.

Re: Summer transfer window
He's supposed to be 'a prick' (whatever that means - as it has not been explained) not an arsehole.
Yes, We all know it's a team game where morale and camaraderie are important factors.
I don't think 'an arsehole' would get very far in the game never mind playing for Karlsruhe or Burnley.
He can't be that bad ( 'an arsehole') otherwise we wouldn't have bought him.
I wouldn't expect you to appreciate that though.

Some would describe Joey Barton as a prick and look how that worked out for us.

Number two. Whether that’s to Trafford, who knows?
Every report about his signing is very clear that’s it’s not to be number one.

Some epic transfers being cooked up by the UTC Cognoscenti.
Sounds like we’re going to pillage Newcastle and have a record breaking season.
Good work chaps.

Re: Summer transfer window
Our accounts run until 31 July so we wouldn't be putting off any dealings until 1 July as it makes no difference to us. Newcastle's go through to 30 June so I guess it's possible they are waiting until the new financial year.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 8:45 pmLooking like there won’t be much official movement until July 1st , presumably due to PSR nonsense.
But, the accounting difference between signing a player on 30 June and 1 July is virtually zero (for Trafford at £40m on a 5 year contract the impact would be about £20k).
Where it would make a big difference is selling as that is accounted for all in one go (but that doesn't make a difference for us until after 31 July).

The point I'm making is that he can't know just from watching him playing. If he was sat in the changing room, he probably could.HB Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 8:15 amNot quite sure what point you are making ? My friend is a season ticket holder, he watches all the home games and many away games. I would imagine that Weiss’ behaviour in general has led my mate to come to the conclusion that “he’s a prick” - but he has also said that he is a good goalkeeper. As others have stated Muric behaved like a prick and sometimes Trafford does things that maybe reflect badly on him but it guest make them bad keepers.
Re: Summer transfer window
And fortunately Man City aren't the type of team who employ very expensive lawyers when things don't go as they want.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 9:25 amExactly, we sell them Trafford for £20 million, plus four players whom we and NU publicly agree are worth a million each. Newcastle's FFP problem of selling us those four for only 4 million being offset by the bargain price they pay for JT.

Looks like we're getting Hartman for £7.7m initial fee plus £2.55m in add-ons - seems quite the bargain if he stays fit.

Re: Summer transfer window
People suggesting Harvey Barnes and current England international Dan Burn as makeweights in a deal for Trafford and yet poo pooing the idea of the likes of Willock - absolutely clueless.
I bet even Longstaff would be amongst our top earners should we fancy him. Even fringe players at these big clubs are on fortunes.
Completely unrealistic.

Assume you mean £30m going there way ? Though it’s completely irrelevant as there’s zero chance of Barnes wanting to join us.
Willock would walk into our team and be a great signing.
Not sure there are many Newcastle players wanting a move given they will need to use a lot more players next season to cope with their champions league games. And with at least £70m to £80m extra income guaranteed they have no need to sell anyone either

Barnes is on fortunes. I think Longstaff would be the most realistic as someone else alluded to. I think he’d be a good fit for us actually but likely that we need a better ball player than him even in hindsight .

There's some nonsense on here. Willock and Longstaff would walk into our team. They're better than anything we have in midfield. Willock played 41 times for Newcastle last season, Longstaff had 32 appearances. Who on earth doesn't think these lads would be good enough? The fact is, if either are available, they'll have plenty of options before they get to Burnley. The likes of Everton, Brighton, West Ham, Bournemouth would snap them up in a heartbeat!

I wouldn't be surprised to see Luca leave. He just doesn't suit Parker's style. Shame, cos he's a good player, in a more expansive team.

How does he not suit Parkers style?, is'nt Luca a younger less experienced version of Edwards with time to learn from wingers that are already playing in Parkers system to great effect.burnley007 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 1:07 pmI wouldn't be surprised to see Luca leave. Re: Summer transfer window
Koleosho is still young and relatively inexperienced in the game. This new season will be his second full season in football discounting the Kompany Prem season due to his long term injury.
We are likely going to be playing on the counter most of the season and he is absolutely perfect for it.

I see him as a player who's best skill is speed, his ability to break a high line with balls over the top, was fantastic under VK, but Edwards has fantastic close control and can make space in tight areas. Anthony is all about that 1st touch, his end product is decent too, which is an area that Koleosho will be working on a lot.
Re: Summer transfer window
Thinking about it, there probably was a bit of method to VK's madness in terms of bringing in so many wingers.burnley007 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 1:44 pmIt's all opinions...

We will have so much more variety in how we have to play in the PL in terms of Low block, high block, possession, counter attack, using wingbacks etc than we did in the Champ where 90 percent of the time we dominate possession and had to break teams down.
To be able to adapt effectively we need wideman with different profiles that can step into different systems so I think Koleosho could have a big part to play next season. I'd use him more in games where we expect to sit deep, he works his balls off defensively and will help to get us up the pitch. Just don't expect him to be hugely creative in terms of his passing, that's not a strength of his.

Re: Summer transfer window
Reports in Italian press after his u21 performances say we want £14m for Koleosho. No chance!
According to the Turkish media outlet, Burnley are ready to offer a 1+1 contract and a salary of €1.5m a season to Oxlade-Chamberlain currently earns €3m a year, which is an issue for Besitkas.
Hmm

Burnley have increased their offer to Lazio for winger Loum Tchaouna — the bid now stands at around €15M plus bonuses.

Re: Summer transfer window
Why do we need another winger ??
Re: Summer transfer window
Absolutely spot on. I often read about players which should be included in transfers and think, whilst we might want them theres no chance they want to be forced to join us. I would be absolutely gob smacked if either of these would want to join us. They could join and play (and earn more money) at a number of other teams in the prem before accepting a relgation battle and probable championship football the year after.jlup1980 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 1:05 pmThere's some nonsense on here. And therein lies our problem with recruiting "experience" from any PL club
So presume we look for players from foreign leagues or young players at PL clubs - and there are plenty of them with oversized squads
It's a tough decision but I'll trust SP to get it right before some of the poster's suggestions over the last 44 pages

Re: Summer transfer window
Probably doesn’t reflect well on me but I find it hilarious after what happened in the Sunderland week Dara is facing a year in the EFL with us in the EPL.
His new contract I am guessing is due to a relegation clause so he gets better pay than in his current deal but worse than in the EPL in return for tying him down. Just a guess.
