Re: Lancashire League Weekend Thread
Hopeys match review sponsored by FCBurnley.
Lowerhouse took on Todmorden today at the home of cricket — and what unfolded was nothing short of the Patrick Martin Show.
After winning the toss, Todmorden opted to bowl first, a decision that looked to pay off early as no Lowerhouse batter managed to get set in what proved to be challenging conditions. I’ll be the first to hold my hands up — at 143 all out, falling just three balls short of batting the full 50 overs, I didn’t think we had enough on the board, especially remembering the strength Todmorden showed in last year’s Worsley Cup Final.
Henri Cottam top-scored with 25, while Paddy Martin anchored the tail with a gritty 22 not out, batting out the overs and ticking off yet another personal milestone. His knock took him past 3,000 Lancashire League runs, cementing his place in the Lowerhouse Hall of Fame — adding batting honours to his growing list of bowling achievements.
After tea, chaos descended — and Todmorden were the ones caught in the storm. Paddy opened the bowling and tore through the top order with ruthless precision. At one stage, Tod were reduced to 4 for 5, as Lowerhouse turned the screw.
In the end, Todmorden were bowled out for just 52 in 22.1 overs, handing Lowerhouse a dominant victory and the full 12 points. The star of the show, of course — Patrick Martin, finishing with sensational figures of 7 for 31 off 11.1 overs, a spell that leaves no doubt about his all-round status in this side.
The win sees Lowerhouse pass the 100-point mark in the league table as momentum continues to build.

In big trouble. But at least the headlines will be taken by Burnley going down and not the house winning the league

Great win, wicket didnt look great but we did play some daft shots, was just one of those days which have become rare.
Always feel we can defend a low total with our bowlers, made up for paddy, he deserves it

I went on the Lowerhouse Todmorden game this afternoon. There were two sensational catches; one by the young lad who was Lowerhouse's wicket keeper diving to catch one that had looped over behind him. And a great diving one handed catch on the boundary by a Todmorden player.

That young lad behind our stumps has played 350+ consecutive games. He’s 32. He’s a god like wicket keeper though.JohnDearyMe wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 8:46 pmI went on the Lowerhouse Todmorden game this afternoon. Re: Lancashire League Weekend Thread
The Todmorden catch was sensational. It was close to me and he ran and flung himself in the air as it was dropping just over the boundary. Caught it one handed and held it as he landed. Even his own team mates were in disbelief.JohnDearyMe wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 8:46 pmI went on the Lowerhouse Todmorden game this afternoon. There was a similar one by the Church pro last night in almost the exact same spot. He jumped up and patted it back before catching it.

Netherfield 134 all out v Burnley in Lancs knock out. Hard to tell if that's an achievable total the way we've batted this season.

Lowerhouse 4th XI & 2nd XI Dominate Sunday Fixtures #UTH

It was a double win for Lowerhouse on Sunday as both the 4th XI and 2nd XI picked up strong victories.
Pinky’s 4th Team – 4 Wins on the Bounce
Pinky’s side made it four wins in a row with a ruthless bowling performance against Clitheroe 4th XI. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, Lowerhouse tore through the hosts, reducing them to 41 for 5 before finishing them off for just 44.
It was the Joshua Nelson Show again — he claimed an incredible 4 for 2 from just 2.4 overs. Hasan Sadaqat was also amongst the wickets, finishing with 4 for 13 off his 5 overs.
House made light work of the chase, reaching the target in 8.5 overs for the loss of one wicket. Oliver Roberts finished unbeaten on 23, with Sami Sadaqat not out on 11.
Second XI – 11 Wins from 11
Over at Church, the 2nd XI juggernaut powered on with their 11th consecutive win, keeping them clear at the top of the league.
Lowerhouse posted a commanding 274 for 7 from their 45 overs. Will Norcross top scored with a composed 80, with four other batters contributing 25 or more.
In reply, Church were bowled out for 110 in just 22.5 overs. Shaukat Ali led the attack with 5 for 18, supported by Francois Haasbroek, who took 3 for 16.
Clinical performances, plenty of wickets, and the wins keep rolling in!

Yes, took a break from cricket earlier in the season and can’t disrupt a league topping side at the moment. What a learning experience for the twos.

With teams like East Lancs struggling to field a team and survive, then other clubs bunging nearly half of their team, the gap is getting bigger and bigger just like football..

Indeed it was and I was there. She bowled extremely well actually and also batted excellently which meant I couldn't quite fathom her coming in at number 11. Anyway, a desperately needed win for Arrod!Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 8:53 amThe first time a female has taken a wicket in the Lancashire League yesterday.
Re: Lancashire League Weekend Thread
And another win for the mighty Colne. Colne made 235-6 which was too many for Church who could only manage 234-9.
Exciting, but late, finish. Depending on the last ball, colne could have finished with 5, 7, 9, 10 or 12 points.
