Re: Brownhill
Looks like he has departed, but the fact he has not come out and said a final farewell and thanks to his team mates and supporters would seem a little out of character for the Josh we know and like. I say departed, because as team captain you would expect him to be at our pre-season from day one, as opposed to an overseas training camp.I wish him all the best

Re: Brownhill
It's a Word Cup year next year and he'll be desperate to impress Southgate so maybe feels he needs to be at a Club where he can do that, after scoring 18 goals in the Championship he'd be desperately unlucky not to be on that plane to South America with the England squad.

Re: Brownhill
Were there indications during our previous seasons in the PL that he was remotely likely to attract the eye of any England manager?
Shedloads of players have outstanding promotion seasons, but then make minimal (if any) impact in the PL, as Burnley fans know only too well.

So, now he's gone, what about the other 'Josh' that also struggled the last time we were in the Premier League?

That squad list is a sad reminder of half a dozen or so players still with the club. You can probably guess who they are

The other Josh struggled at the start of the season because he was being asked to be a sole defensive midfielder with kompanys crazy system of playing 4 attack minded players.
He then realised you need 2 in there and when Cullen and Berge played there we looked much more controlled

He will in due course. He isn’t going to do it before he’s confirmed where he’s going. Which let’s face it. He hasn’t as he could sign for anyone today.warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 12:57 pmLooks like he has departed, but the fact he has not come out and said a final farewell and thanks to his team mates and supporters would seem a little out of character for the Josh we know and like. His instagram page is also currently 'down' - if that means anything
Re: Brownhill
If he's gone to a better club or to another country then fair play to him. But I'll be disappointed if he goes to Ipswich or Leicester because it would obviously be for the money.

Every time I changed jobs it was for more money. Why would a 29 year old footballer be any different?

No issues from me . Good luck to the lad with whatever he chooses.
He signed 2 contracts with us - 5 1/2 seasons service. The club did not accept any offers in this period ( that's if there was ever any offered)

What is actually confusing me is the video that was released a few weeks back where Josh intimated he was waiting and telling AP to get it sorted. Has AP not tried hard enough or is Josh asking for too much money?

Re: Brownhill
It’s a shame that 8 weeks from finishing the season there has been no official announcement made. If it’s a case of it’s such a big decision for brownhill to make that’s understandable but there comes a time where the club have to take the offer off the table and officially announce he is leaving

It's very similar to the Ben Mee situation.
My taking on the subject is that Scott doesn't really want him.

Re: Brownhill
He's only just gone out of contract
There may well be discussions ongoing with the club
He may not be saying farewell yet
Meanwhile on here people are impatient, coming up with various theories etc
Typical tbh

Re: Brownhill
This would be a much more interesting "will he sign/won't he sign" saga if he was actually good enough for the league we'll be playing in. As he isn't, I don't understand why people are so invested but each to their own.
For what it's worth, it's always seemed fairly obvious to me that Brownhill - and Trafford - will leave. I could be wrong of course. But I haven't considered them Burnley players since the final whistle against Millwall.

Re: Brownhill
I think it's fair to assume Pace has an offer on the table with an expiry date, maybe end of this week. If Brownhill's first choice was to re-sign with Burnley he would have signed it by now and rocked up with the rest of the squad. If he doesn't sign it, he's on his own. If any of this is true, Brownhill has put himself in a precarious position.

I think if we had been able to match his best offer, he’d have stayed. The problem is his best offer probably blows us out of the water financially.Claretfanatic1982 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 7:29 pmWhat is actually confusing me is the video that was released a few weeks back where Josh intimated he was waiting and telling AP to get it sorted. Re: Brownhill
It'll be what it'll be!.
The lad has done us and himself proud in his time at Burnley and who wouldn't welcome change if its available, maybe he just doesn't fancy "another" relegation fight............statistically and realistically thats exactly what Burnley will expect to face again.
Maybe he's just tired of that scenario and fancies pastures new that might just bring less mental pressure and it allows him to enjoy a more relaxed football career who knows?
Whatever he decides i wish him nothing but the very best and thank him for being a top pro and great representative of my club.

Please can you tell me when you took a new job for less pay, in order to better provide for your family? Unless of course, you are reasonably well off, and money isn't a priority as you strive to give your children the best you can afford.

Re: Brownhill
In the NFL they call them hold outs. They can sit out the whole of pre-season waiting for the best offer. Then roll up week1 and turn in a top performance. Nobody on here has a clue what is happening, as it should be. Let it play out, guys.
