Greatest last minute goal by any team
Got to be Deeny v Leicester for me, after conceading a penalty to go straight up the other end to win promotion to the Prem.

Re: Greatest last minute goal by any team
Clearly it’s Jimmy Glass, has to be. For me though? It has to be Ian Moore away at Bradford in 2004 - the only injury time goal which has resulted in me somehow being 5 rows lower by the end of the celebrations (we were going down without a doubt in my opinion).
Re: Greatest last minute goal by any team
Man Utd 99.
Re: Greatest last minute goal by any team
Anybody who picks a last minute goal scored by an outfield player immediately fails the Jimmy Glass test.
Anybody who picks a goal that wasn’t the last minute of the last game of the season fails the Jimmy Glass test.
Anybody who picks a goal that doesn’t keep his team from relegation out of the football league and likely existence fails the Jimmy Glass test.
It’s Jimmy Glass, it’s Jimmy Glass, it’s Jimmy Glass.

Just as an aside, it wasn’t to win promotion. It was to get to the Play Off Final. Which they lost.GoldenBoots wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 8:47 pmGot to be Deeny v Leicester for me, after conceading a penalty to go straight up the other end to win promotion to the Prem.

This is the one I instantly thought of but then also thought of the Barnes v Palace one which was similar to this in many ways!GoldenBoots wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 8:47 pmGot to be Deeny v Leicester for me, after conceading a penalty to go straight up the other end to win promotion to the Prem.
Some great examples on here though. Very difficult to argue against any of them!
Also a mention for Jay vs Preston - we were 3-1 down in the 84th minute and still won! With an Iwellumo Hatrick before Jay finished it off!

Might not make many happy on here but ManUres comeback against Bayern in the ‘99 CL final has to be up there. Two goals in added time in the biggest club cup game in Europe, with your best two MFers suspended.

Good thread. A shout for Lucas Moura away at Ajax to complete his hat trick after Spurs had been 2-0 down, sending them to the Champions League final.
Re: Greatest last minute goal by any team
Amiens in 2017 is up there. Ligue 2, final second of the season, Amiens in 6th position and out of the play offs score a last gasp goal to take them up automatically and into Ligue 1 for the first time in their history.

Re: Greatest last minute goal by any team
Greatest goal by any team has to be either Glass or Solskjaer considering the significance of the games. If Deeney's goal would have won promotion to the PL that would also have been up there but as it was only the play off semi I can't include it.
From a Burnley perspective it has to be Francis followed by Moore.

Re: Greatest last minute goal by any team
For Burnley, 2 injury time goals v. Shrewsbury, down to 10 men, with John Bond disguised as a steward at the back of the stand, is up there.
Or in the 4th division Championship season, Conroy away to Northampton when we had doinated the game but let in a late equaliser and Conroy got the even later winner. special mention for that one because I was behind the goal and if the net hadn't stopped it, it would have been straight at my head.

Difficult to beat that. Saw it live and wanted Arsenal to win. Brian Moore came close to imploding.

Frank Casper's last goal for Burnley, a twice-taken free kick against QPR. The first one went in, but he had to take it again. No problem to Frank. In it went. The trouble is I'm not sure this was in the last minute.

Re: Greatest last minute goal by any team
Surprised no mention for Beckham's last minute free kick against Greece which (I think) secured qualification for the 2002 world cup. 25-30 yards out, 93rd minute, and absolutely perfect. For execution under pressure it's pretty well unbeatable I think.
I'd probably say Jimmy Glass eclipses it for sheer drama and significance, and Solksjaer's winner against Bayer in 1999 probably does too, but if we're talking about the finest last minute goal scored, given the circumstances Beckham's would be right up there.

Although it was Crystal Palace who won the promotion, beating Watford in the final.GoldenBoots wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 8:47 pmGot to be Deeny v Leicester for me, after conceading a penalty to go straight up the other end to win promotion to the Prem.
But the same had happened a couple of weeks earlier in the game between Brentford and Doncaster on the final day of the season. Brentford missed the pen and Donny went straight up and won it with a James Coppinger goal.
Had Brentford scored the goal, they would have gone up in second place behind Bournemouth; they lost and Doncaster went above both of them to win the league, leaving Brentford in the play-offs which they lost. Yeovil won the play-offs.

I had forgot it was the play offs between Watford and Leicester and not for auto promotion.
Agree the Jimmy Glass goal is well up there though.

Re: Greatest last minute goal by any team
For me, the Jimmy Glass goal is hugely sullied by the fact that Carlisle have since been relegated out of the Football League twice, meaning that ultimately it meant nothing.

Another vote for Ole and ManU. Not so much because it was ManU but more so because it was against the Germans.

I think both Thomas & Aguero goals are on a par really. Shouldnt forget that City were still 2-1 down going into injury time and hadnt been that great all game, plus their rivals for the title had already finished their gameNottsClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 6:26 pmMichael Thomas in ‘89 is better than Glass and Aguero.
