Re: Summer transfer window
Great signing if it's finalised, regardless of his age and wage for 5 mill in this day and age it's a no brainer. Very happy how we are doing this window

Roberts is goingexilecanada wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 8:28 pmFrom a footballing point of view signing Walker is probably a good move, but from a financial point of view, not so sure. Surely we can't pay him anywhere near what he was pulling in at Citeh. To pay him the silly money would upset our salary structure, and pi** off the other players. Also, is Parker collecting right backs like Kompany collected wingers? We now have Roberts, the ex Ipswich dude, Sonne and Walker.

Walker/Roberts
Tuanzebe/Ekdal/Worrell
Estève/Humphreys
Hartman/Pires
Plenty of good competition in our back four.

In a back three, possibly. In a back two, no.

Be very interesting to see how it all comes together. We've got a huge squad already and still a few positions we're not yet strong enough in. There will have to be a a lot of outgoings at some point.
Walker is a cracking signing though and the sort I was hopeful we'd make last time.

Prefer Trips to come back but Walker is very experienced. We play a deeper line and he still has enough pace to cover all but the very rapid. The defensive players all offer a level of flexibility. We really need something in CM and a couple up top. We also need to sell quite a few.

i guess we are still waiting on Brownhill's final choice, plus Trafford and (I still think) Esteve.
Clearly we need to find clubs for several others who don't seem to be what SP wants.

Burnley fans all say Clarke Carlisle, but with our Claret specs removed we all know that Kyle Walker was by far and away the best player on the pitch in the 2009 play-off final. What a career he’s had since then!

Nothing to worry about with players who we need to move on.
It's near the end of the window when clubs need to plug gaps with loans so I'm sure many will leave even if it's just for the season.

It’s more of a case of having a over crowded training ground, they go to Portugal for a week in a week or 2s time, you’d imagine Parker will want as many players he doesn’t want out the door by thenollieclarets8 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 8:58 pmNothing to worry about with players who we need to move on.

Re: Summer transfer window
As I sit here mulling this over, I can only see it as a positive move. Some players who are good natural athletes, as Kyle appears to be, can continue easily into late 30s and compensate for a slight loss of pace with their experience, match awareness and anticipation. As mentioned a couple of times earlier, Keith Newton was a master stroke signing at the time, this could be similar. Alexander turned into a great signing, adapting his game to play assorted effective roles. As for his personal life alluded to earlier, I thought he had rebuilt his relationship with wife and kids and things appeared to have stabilized. If the transfer is confirmed he gets my wholehearted support and the club are to be applauded for landing him. UTC

"How can you say any other those 4 players are capable of being backup in a championship team chasing promotion, even by your standards it’s a crazy thing to say"123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 8:37 pmI didn’t belittle them at all, I said their development would be better playing football week in week out in lower leagues, and not put pressure on them during an intense promotion battle. don’t try and twist it.
"Yep and I’ve watched them play and went to the games at turf and under no way can you compare performances in the u21s to be capable in the championship.
Jack cork would be a better backup option than those 4 for this season"
Sounds pretty belittling. Nothing about pressure, or loans. Just straight up not up to the standard.
Better off playing a retired player than them. Your words.
Any evidence of this? What's your source?123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 8:37 pm
So the fact Matt Williams himself said Shelvey was pay as you play
And that's before we get to loads of people quote Matt Williams as gospel, I recall people saying Matt Williams had said Egan-Riley had agreed a new deal towards the end of the season, that panned out.
Stop making things up.

I know he was also accused of exposing himself in public, and broke lockdown rules several times, which included hiring prostitutes!
It's fair to say we haven't signed him as an example of how to conduct yourself OFF the pitch!

No, I think he'll leave some behind. And I hope our transfer chaps will be looking for suitable clubs for them either on loan or transfers.

Wasn’t it, he said they felt more confident he would sign a new deal, rather than he had done? This was on video that someone posted.

You still think Hugil is ready to play championship football?
Jack cork would of been better than them and they weren’t and still aren’t ready for the pressure of a championship promotion run. Jack cork was signed as a player coach last season so not retired.
No matt Williams was videoed saying he was more confident this week than he was last week but Egan Riley has chosen champions league football.

Belittling.
Still waiting for some evidence or your source on Williams saying Shelvey was on a pay as you play deal.
*Cork was coach/player for the U21s, he was retired from senior football. Never registered in our first team squad.

I brought up Shelvey because you said I was only against this because I don't rate Parker. If that was the case I'd have been against Weiss, Hartman, Tuanzebe and Tchaouna. I was simply pointing out the last signing I was against (for similar reasons; legs gone, expensive etc) which just so happened to be one you were massively up on and had a go at me over a bunch of posts for not supporting.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 9:24 pmYou have brought the youth players up to try and validate you comparing signing Shelvey as us now signing Walker.
