I have kept off the message board all afternoon as it was getting tedious specifically on this thread. Absolutely stunned with this signing and congratulations to Pace/Williams and Parker for getting it done. At his peak one of the best right backs in the world-if he is still at 85% of that level he will be tremendous for us.

I think three factors swung it. He likes and trusts Parker: he will have got to know the club as his son plays for us: he stays in the north west. Plus for him he remains a big fish in a small pond. So glad its us, not Leeds or Sunderland signing him. We are getting a very versatile defence know.

Just a though but I dont suppose that instagram message from Pope to Trafford at the weekend was meant for Walker ????

Kyle Walker is the reason we didn't win that play-off 2-0 ... his covering back to block Robbie Blake's tap in was incredible !
That was ridiculous, he was so far behind Blake when he set off!

I was totally unaware until tonight that Walker had only made his league debut for Sheffield United in the final two games of that season and then the play-offs.

This is the second this summer that’s come out of the blue.

That is ******* mental.

He’s 35 but he’d start for like 15 teams in this league, minimum. Insanity. HOW?
Doesn’t his son play for our youth team?

All the crap about Walker being a a prick and what not, doesn’t matter, you don’t captain pep team if you don’t high high standards around the club you are at.

All walkers career he’s had comments like ‘if he didn’t have pace he would be at Burnley’ well now his pace is going slightly he is at Burnley

And not sure Scott Parker would sign anybody that would be bad for the dressing room.

I am as stunned by this as I was the night Ian Wright signed for us

What a fab opening fixture for us with Parker and Walker returning to Spurs

I've genuinely just read a few Blackburn fans laughing at us for signing Kyle Walker :D you can sense the seething through the screen. They'd be lucky to sign Roy Walker at the minute.

I had picked on the Parker/Walker link but the potential for him to make his debut at Spurs I’d missed.

Obviously we can't be turning our nose up at a signing like this, but some of his defending in recent years has been properly stupid and beyond terrible.

Still, welcome to the club with opinionated 'moaning' f***ing fans Mr Walker.

Changing the topic briefly but does anyone think we have a chance at signing Richard Rios from Palmerias

He has been immense at the club World Cup and from all accounts he’s keen to play in the prem.

Also in other news, Norwich look like signing striker Mathias Kvistgaarden from Brondby, which would likely mean Josh Sargent leaving.

Ipswich bought all the best Championship players in their bid to survive last season, and it wasn't enough.

We need to aim higher in our striker search if we want to survive the drop.

Last signing I had an issue with was Shelvey, you hounded me on here across a bunch of posts for saying that was a poor signing and waste of money because his legs had gone whilst you said he was going to be great.

How'd that work out?
Was it also not you saying we wouldn't go up due to your great use of stats. Forgive me for not taking everything you say as gospel.

A great signing.

You are basing Walkers legs going from one game whisky Senegal at the end of the season, how about supporting the club and manager and giving him a chance.
He was awful for City for a few months, costing them goals week in week out. You don't go from being a regular to getting shipped out on loan in January unless something has gone drastically wrong.

Walker will have inside knowledge on players worth approaching at City as a loan. I understand City would consider for example letting Macatee go (what a great replacement for Brownhill). I am sure they have a number of very good players who cant make the squad

A lot of people like using stats to say how good or bad players - statmuse don’t have Walker having any errors that cost goals. I think it’s harsh to say Walker was costing them week in week out, it was the Rodri injury and the high line they played
