Marquee signing even at 35. I like what Parker and Pace are doing.

Onwards and upwards Kyle.
Re: ARTICLE:Clarets bring in Kyle Walker from Manchester City
Great to sign such an experienced player who is not here as a youthful gamble that might make money for our owners but as a sign of intent we are going to try and stay up this time. The defence, which is going to be key for us,has been sorted nice and early so we can be properly drilled and ready for Spurs.

I wonder if this is one of the "significant things in the close season" that Dave Checketts was talking about in his recent interview with Simon Evans, that could help establish us as a Bournemouth type of club and stay in the Premier League...

Walker and Barnes in the same dressing room, love to be a flie on the wall there..
In all seriousness and excellent signing, his leadership and experience will be excellent for us, never mind the fact he's still a fabulous footballer..

All the comments on socials about Walker off the field. Does that really matter, when he clearly has high standards in and around training

An excellent piece of business by Scott Parker and the club.claretbob wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 11:46 amGreat to sign such an experienced player who is not here as a youthful gamble that might make money for our owners but as a sign of intent we are going to try and stay up this time. Scott will be keen to bolster the defensive ranks to try and make sure that his PL tenure at Burnley doesn’t get off to the torrid start that he endured during his brief stay at Bournemouth, that lasted only 4 matches and included a 9-0 defeat.
I am sure that Scott will be looking to add some firepower in the forward line before the window slams shut.

Don't think I've been as pleasantly surprised at us signing a fullback since the great Keith Newton.

Imagine if you could bypass time and have Keith on the left now with Kyle Walker on the right. I was brought up with Angus and Elder but Newton was very special.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 12:25 pmDon't think I've been as pleasantly surprised at us signing a fullback since the great Keith Newton.

A surprise signing as I thought Pace was all about signing young players then move them on for profit, perhaps he’s had a re think after Kompany.

Re: ARTICLE:Clarets bring in Kyle Walker from Manchester City
Supposed to be on £180k/week at City £9.36 million a year. What the heck are we paying him-£50K/week or £2.6million and a hefty signing on fee? Cant see him accepting a drop in pay for this season of nearly £7million.Ilkley claret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 12:16 pmReported that City may save £10m by getting him off their books but surely we haven’t picked up all the tab?
Re: ARTICLE:Clarets bring in Kyle Walker from Manchester City
Wonderful signing. A serial champion, a winners mentality, and someone who could lay claim to being the best right back in the world in the not too distant past.
Alright, he's on his way down but being good enough for the likes of AC Milan and City and then Burnley are two separate things, as painful as it is to concede.
Welcome to Burnley shagger, let's just hope your days of being caught with your pants down area few and far between

I was waiting for a potential negative from you but I suspected it would be more in line with the squad being too big.

He's got a two year deal while only having one left at City. Don't read too much into the numbers.

Re: ARTICLE:Clarets bring in Kyle Walker from Manchester City
The free agent market has some really good options this summer and whilst Walker had a fee attached, he’s in that sort of category. I am enjoying the thinking with this signing and Tuanzebe’s.
I have to say, this signing shows to me that the interest in the likes of Soucek, Vardy, Calvert-Lewin, Wilson is probably real. It’s a significant change in strategy and shows that the club has learned you need a mix of youth like Tchouana, with real experience and nous to stay up these days. Hypothetically, if we could push the boat out on Soucek and the likes of Wilson/Vardy I’d really fancy our chances to give it a damn good go.

Potentially a great signing and interesting to listen to his comments regarding helping the younger players. However his track record for behavioural misdemeanours is quite a big one - hopefully he has matured and can continue the development of our club.

Re: ARTICLE:Clarets bring in Kyle Walker from Manchester City
Quite an incredible signing really. He’s played at the very highest level until very recently, and whilst his best days are obviously behind him I imagine he’s still got an awful lot to give.
I’ve been really impressed with our business so far - there seems to be a lot more thought going into these incomings, and whilst the challenge is monumentous and the odds hugely stacked against us, I fancy us to compete in a lot more games next season.

Re: ARTICLE:Clarets bring in Kyle Walker from Manchester City
If there wasn't such a trust in Parker I think there would have to be big questions about character because by any measure he's an idiot and a very unpleasant one at that.
On the pitch, maybe he's still got it and maybe he hasn't. I'm inclined to think a current England international at such a cheap price would have better offers than Burnley but maybe it's a masterstroke.

Re: ARTICLE:Clarets bring in Kyle Walker from Manchester City
I don't think it's negative or unfair to be curious about what he's being paid over the two years though, bearing in mind his huge salary at City. I've seen the 5 million fee, does anyone know how much the total package with wages, signing on fee, etc?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 12:39 pmI was waiting for a potential negative from you but I suspected it would be more in line with the squad being too big.

Could add Christian Erikson on that free agent list to, did he play with Parker and Walker at spurs?jedi_master wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 12:41 pmThe free agent market has some really good options this summer and whilst Walker had a fee attached, he’s in that sort of category.
