Noticed it tonight. Pathetic. Ruined the Benny celebration. Half time, the referee was going to get hammered for allowing the Wednesday filthy challenges. Couldn't get on it him because of shite music. Pace et al have zero idea about English fans or what motivates us.

Not against goal music per say, but that current choice of music is cringe. You can feel it on the Turf too, it was ignored for every goal.. even chanted over for Brownhill's goal.

I remember when Blackburn were using Samba De Janeiro a few seasons ago, and I thought it was cringe then. Always like a Norwich City rip off.

I'd prefer no music, if not then Tom Hark.. a song with more history here.

This goal music is horrendous.. at least do tom hark, or umba umba. Don't use some some Norwich song, which clearly isn't working.

Why ruin the celebrations with a song fans won't join in with?

IIRC when we had the “discussion” on goal music last time, somebody in the club board room said knotting along the lines of”we know the fans like it because they jump along to it when it’s played”

Completely missing the point that we’d be jumping around anyway as we’d have just scored

I bet the plan is too start it off quietly so it's hardly noticeable and then gradually crank the volume up. When people complain they'll say it's been there for ages.

I don’t think it was someone in the boardroom but at least we got it removed after the vote was overwhelmingly in favour of getting rid. That was when the club did daft things but at least listened.

I got a questionnaire though from the club tonight so pare a point of saying the music is cheap and tacky and needs to be removed

It’s not even an appropriate song that the younger fans can get with …

I wonder if Parker has had any say in it? There was a club interview in pre season in which they talked about how he brings music into many aspects of daily life at the club - at the training ground, press room and on match day.

Goal music is as tacky and tinpot, as going to a game with an inflatable snake around your neck.

I was fully expecting a rousing chorus of Aye Aye Ashley after Barnes scored, only for the end of the game music to drawn out anything the fans were going to contribute,

It happened after Brownhill’s goal too against Sheffield Wednesday and again after the 3rd goal on Saturday, fans tried to get E-I-E-I-E-I-O going after the goal but the music started playing. It’s having the opposite effect and is drowning out the support.

The fans know about promotions having had 3 in our past 3 Championship seasons and we always go with the team and back them during in the run-in, we’re at that point now and we don’t need any cheap gimmicks like goal music

Foster's song got sung when he scored in cricketfield but the goal music drowned it out. Ruined a good moment

Are the club aware the goal music actually stops the loud singing /songs you get after we’ve scored ? Especially in a really important close game . Though what on earth they’re doing with the walkout /immediate pre match music is almost bizzare .

Can you imagine us having had this nonsense on the night Michael Keane scored against Middlesbrough. The people coming up with these ideas really don’t have a clue.

At a recent game the music came on after the final whistle so quickly I thought it had been triggered by the whistle.

A few people around me sat down rather than continue celebrating the goal when the music came on. That Summed it up for me. It's flattened an already quite poor atmosphere.

Exactly what happens where we sit but they dance and high five in the directors box.

The thought of the whistle triggering the music is both hilarious and a little too close for comfort ! The music at the end doesn’t give any chance to applaud the players properly as the applause is drowned out .

Still shite, and as above it has the opposite effect on most fans who just sit down and stop celebrating.

It's clearly a cultural difference but I've always been of the opinion that you should try to assimilate when moving to a new country rather than attempting to force your culture onto them.

At a guess, I'd say early 2000's.

I went on my first game of the season on Tuesday and can honestly say I didn’t notice the goal music.
What I did notice was the music played almost upto kick off and after the final whistle. It robs us of any spontaneity and of fans creating the atmosphere the board are craving.
I know I must sound like an old crusty but why do we have to have music assaulting our eardrums in so many public and private spaces?

Does anybody remember the name of the song we played from 2005 to 07 ish?

It was the umba umba song. I used to have the song on my YouTube playlist back in the late 00's days.

But I can't for the life of me remember it anymore.. and my old youtube account is long gone.
I remember it was a full length song with lots of lyrics, but the chorus part was the part that we played at the Turf.

I've searched umba etc and I can't find it, I have a feeling the song had a different specific name..

Was that the inspiration behind ‘um bom ba um bom ba’? Which I’ve only ever known our fans to do, never seen it from other clubs’ supporters.
