I've emailed the Kosovan Mafia to ask what their demands are

"Manchester based".
We've had bids turned down by Salford for a young player who is highly rated. Would this be the player in question?
Yes the Salford lad (Tyrell Malcolm) makes sense although one for the U21s.
Misread " Manchester based" as Manchester United 🙄

I've heard rumblings of a season long loan with no option for a young Manchester based forward. In and around the first team, not a regular starter.
Is it Frank Stapleton ?

If it is just say that you can’t divulge

I can divulge but the guessing game is good fun :D

Oscar Bobb is the name I've been given.

He’s a fantastic player

But he plays on the right wing where we have Edwards and Tchouna

I thought he could play anywhere in behind the three TBF.

He IS a fantastic player. Had that broken leg and a series of complications that have stunted his development. There's far bigger than us that fancy him permanently but City only willing to let him go on loan is the story behind it

I just checked where he predominantly played in city’s u23s. It was an advanced midfielder (not quite a number 10). So I would say very similar to the Brownhill position from last season.

Would make sense with Brownhill gone

You would not be alone, I would have him back too. These are Ipswich stats with and without Muric, despite how much the fans attack him:

* With Muric - 18 appearances
* 12 points
* 6 draws
* 33 conceeded
* 3 wins
* Without Muric 20 games
* 10 points
* 4 draws
* 49 conceeded
* 2 wins

So they were far worse without than with. Also they faced a lot of big names and got draws from them during his time.
Interesting. Thanks for posting these. I knew we had better stats with Muric but I wasn’t aware Ipswich did too.

I have said before, I would like him back. I’d love to see how he does under a manager that doesn’t play so openly and takes a safety first approach. I think both VK and McKenna’s styles make it hard for any keeper to look great in a newly promoted side.

I thought we sold him too cheaply and if he could cut out his errors there’s a very good keeper in there.

I did wonder this after the way we structured the Walker deal.

OOC at the end of the season, big wages, maybe guaranteed less starts at City, etc etc

Oscar Bobb on loan to replace Brownhill would be great business, on paper the squad is starting to look as good as Brentfords, Wolves, West Ham etc and there all losing players still

We will become Man City’s home based development team. Young talent given time and space to develop whilst still under the nose of the coaches and staff.

Helps with FFP and lets them develop in a team in the Premier League or Championship.

I am happy with the arrangement so far.

A bit simplistic though. Ipswich, like many promoted teams, started fairly brightly and then faded away. Muric's spell in the team coincided with the bright start. Maybe he contributed to it, equally it could have been much brighter without his errors.

Clearly the manager there thought that they were better off without him in the team, as our manager did for most of the previous season. I think with good reason. Let's see where he ends up, but I'd be surprised if it's anywhere near a Premier League starting XI.

That’s not how I saw it during the u21 euros. Completely different players with completely different roles and skill sets.

Scott was just playing the water carrier role and I actually found Anderson quite frustrating at times - decent player but more in there for his physical attributes. McAtee was excellent at moving with the ball, taking the ball in tight spaces and creating openings.

McAtee much the better footballer in my opinion. But like I say, different players with different roles.

McAtee was below par for the under 21's, nowhere near excellent!

Yes he is a good player on his day but didn't have a good tournament even though we won it.

I don’t know enough about Bobb to know what a difference maker he would be for us, but I’m not really keen on loans with no options. If it were for a player who would make a big difference on our chances of staying up, I’d stomach it.

I’d have no issue at all with a partnership with City whereby we bought young players with buy back deals that reflect some value for the experience we’ve given players though. I’ve often thought that our location - close to City, United and Liverpool is under exploited in that respect.

It's a futile debate as I don't think Foster or Flemming will ultimately be good enough for the PL. That said, if we have to go with one of them I would go with Flemming. 14 goals in 37 apps versus 9 goals in 72 apps. It's a no brainer, regardless of whether we think Lyle could run a bit quicker. Goals are vital at any level, and you have to go with the lad running at a goal every 2.5 games over the lad who scores 1 in 8.
Yes, can’t argue with the goal scoring statistics. I reckon we’d create more chances with Foster in the side but you still have to take them. What we both agree on is it’s probably a daft argument given there’s a good chance it’ll be neither :lol:

Oscar Bobb has certainly got some ability . Sometimes it’s hard to gauge just how good the youngsters are at city because they are surrounded by world class players for the most part

The skillset required to fit into and look the part in a high level team is different to that needed to raise the standard of a lower quality team. Just ask Phil Foden.

Although from what little I've seen of Bobb I think he'd be a great loan signing for us. Looks to have the physical attributes to match the skills.

Wilson to West ham will be fine.

Howe kept wheeling him out to try and get some landmark goal (100 for united, maybe), but he never looked like scoring - not even close. Osula is likely now ahead of him in the pecking order. I thought he might end up somewhere like stoke or Norwich for a year.

Now that it looks like Newcastle have agreed a fee with Forest for Elanga I wonder whether we will be any nearer finding out if Trafford goes there this week.

It was similar for us in the premier league.

Appreciate last season Trafford was exceptional. However in the poem, our points per game with Muric were better. And his two mishaps aside, his performances were generally solid!

Good spot, that was a typo.

It was 2 wins and 6 draws making 12 points with Muric.

PPG Muric = 0.67
PPG Other = 0.5

I'd argue the most important stat is goals conceded, which are much higher without Muric.

How many more points would Ipswich have had but for the horrendous mistakes Muric made which led to him being dropped for the rest of the season ?

Anyone can make mistakes. Over the season is what counts.

They would have had 3.4 more points based on the maths had they stuck with Muric for the remaining 20 games.

Just seen Leeds are after Sean Longstaff and are bidding £10m + £2m in addons. Only 12 months left on his contract. I think somebody mentioned him earlier as a possible target.

When making your calculations did you factor in the number of possible points dropped due to errors that Muric would undoubtedly have continued to make if keeping his place in the side? Or, did you just assume that Muric would suddenly become error free for the remaining 20 games?

No, I based it on the maths. His PPG is 0.67. Without him, PPG is 0.50 so the difference is 0.17 PPG. 20 x 0.17 is 3.4 Points.

You can't say 'Oh but, he would have suddenly doubled the number of mistakes in the last 20 games'. I am basing the figures on maths, which do not lie.

I would be a big fan of that, especially at that price. Limited player but defensively very disciplined, works hard and lots of experience. Only 27 too.

How are you coming to the conclusion that Muric was responsible for the higher rate of points Ipswich picked up whilst he was in the team? You say the maths doesn’t lie, but your logic certainly does.

As for Muric, I can’t for one minute see why anybody would want him back. He’s dog sh!t and won’t be seen near the Premier League again.

Our ppg was also higher with him in. It’s a team game. But both sides he played for at this level did better while he was starting.

Our ppg was also higher with him in. It’s a team game. But both sides he played for at this level did better while he was starting.
Only recently I read on here someone giving Esteve credit for Burnley picking up more points in the latter stages of the season after signing in January.

Like you say it’s a team game, and having watched our matches I don’t believe the introduction of Muric led to the team picking up points at a higher rate than we did before his selection.

And notwithstanding all of this, we have all seen him be an absolute calamity for both Burnley and Ipswich in the Premier League so I find it a complete head scratcher that anyone would want us to re-sign him.

There have been plenty of articles about him being available for loan this season if City like the opportunity for him. He missed most of last season because he broke his leg in training. Doesn't mean we will get him but we could well be trying to.

Funny how none of our "ITK" posters knew about Walker.

I was a fan of Muric and he was excellent behind the all conquering Championship side, especially his amazing long range passing . I thought he should have been well ahead of Trafford in the race to be number one in the PL and kept thinking we'd be in much better position if we'd only drop Trafford and pick him. Then we did and he looked poor, culminating in the calamitous goal against Brighton on the Turf. I still thought Ipswich were getting a very good keeper though. They weren't. Well not at PL level and he definitely cost them at times, although that wasn't why they went down. It's 99% certain Trafford will move on and we'll get decent cash in return, but we have to do better than Muric for a season when we're going to be playing seriously backs to the wall footy in pretty much every game.

You would not be alone, I would have him back too. These are Ipswich stats with and without Muric, despite how much the fans attack him:

* With Muric - 18 appearances
* 12 points
* 6 draws
* 33 conceeded
* 3 wins
* Without Muric 20 games
* 10 points
* 4 draws
* 49 conceeded
* 2 wins

So they were far worse without than with. Also they faced a lot of big names and got draws from them during his time.
At what point did Taunzebe get injured? Maybe their downturn in form had something to do with his absence :D

I think it points to their 2nd choice goalkeeper being worse than Muric and little else. But quite what all this has to do with the current transfer window is beyond me.
