Re: Summer transfer window
I was intrigued by the big lad from genk, however the more I watch of Sargent the more I think he'd make a superb Claret
Re: Summer transfer window
Didn't we pay close to that to a Championship team nearly 10 years ago to sign Andre Gray? Doesn't sound a massive inflation for 10 years.Goody1975 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 2:17 pmI've said earlier in the thread that I really like Sargent, his work rate and unselfish play will be ideal for a club in our position.
The modern front lines don't tend to have an out and out goalscorer who bags 20+ goals and my hope would be that he creates the space for other to chip in, of course we would hope he can hit 10+ goals himself.
My only issue is the reported fee, I can cope if there are stipulations about staying up etc, so we pay nothing like the £16 million initially.
I would be pleased if he signs for us though, he's a good player.
Re: Summer transfer window
He clearly wants to go regardless.martin_p wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 1:25 pmNot that I’m suggesting it changes his thinking, but 12 months ago he’d just come off the back of a very difficult season with the prospect of the Championship before him. Now he’s just had his best ever season and is guaranteed to start Premier League games for Burnley. Ok, his best mate isn’t here but he’s not at Newcastle either, he isn’t guaranteed to start for Newcastle either. So it’s a very different situation to last year.

Been a bit flat out and missed the the last 24hrs gossip. Did the Newcastle mafia arrive and reach a "solution" for a Trafford exit?

to be fair that seems reasonable in terms of everybody behaving correctly till the process is negotiated.

Also sounds like we might get close to our £40m target with add-ons included.

Sorry I don’t understand your logic, we will then be without a premier league level keeper , unless we going to gamble again throwing another rookie keeper into the fray to see if he can make it.burnley007 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 4:11 pmgood. everyone's a winner.
NUFC get England's best young keeper, Traff gets to play CL and we get to spend more cash on players!

Hope not, if we are losing Trafford it's imperative he's replacement has some experience in one of the top leagues throughout Europe, and preferably the Premier league.northeastclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 5:25 pmSorry I don’t understand your logic, we will then be without a premier league level keeper , unless we going to gamble again throwing another rookie keeper into the fray to see if he can make it.

Gibbs White off to Spurs as they have triggered his release clause. Forest will find him hard to replace.

Spurs are spending some brass, 60m on Gibbs-White and 55m om Kudus from West Ham and they are looking to sign Wissa from Brentford...these numbers are getting more outrageous each passing season.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Jul 10, 2025 7:18 pmForest signed him for 40m wolves slapped a 20% clause on the deal and he had a 60m clause

Re: Summer transfer window
Raheem Sterling could emerge as a target for Sunderland as the summer goes on.
Suggestions have been made by Keith Wyness [Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, 18 June] that Chelsea could subsidise Sterling’s wages if he were to move to the north east.
With that being said, former Brentford and Leicester City boss Martin Allen has been left baffled by the prospect of a move for the Englishman by Regis Le Bris’ side.
Speaking exclusively to Mackem News, Allen said: “I wonder if Raheem Sterling would want to move up north to Sunderland.
“He is extremely wealthy already.
“Why would he move his family there to sign for Sunderland at this stage of his career? I can’t see it happening.
“I think no matter what, Sunderland are going to find things particularly difficult.“

Re: Summer transfer window
I think Spurs could be force to be reckoned with this coming season, looks like Frank has convinced Levy to dig into his deep pockets. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Spurs, I guess that's because I was around when, for about 3 or 4 seasons, Burnley and Spurs were by far the best two teams in the country and had some memorable battles. Unfortunately Spurs were usually a smidgen better than us

I'm still hoping for Tella, but no interest in Ings. Given the amounts thrown about by Sunderland, we surely have room for one marquee signing?
