Be a bit underwhelming if it’s JBL.

Re: Summer transfer window
Agree was okay but with the way parker wants to play we need pace on the break.
Re: Summer transfer window
My guess is Oderbert on loan.
And also another incoming on top of this

Wouldn’t say JBL has much pace? Not slow but not quick.claretcarrot93 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 1:10 pmAgree was okay but with the way parker wants to play we need pace on the break.

Re: Summer transfer window
With Brentford selling anyone and everything surprised Collins hasn't been suggested
Re: Summer transfer window
JBL was a goalscorer. Intelligent enough to make the right put to in runs to get himself in goalscoring positions regularly. It'd be between him and Anthony on that side
It doesn't bode well for Koleosho

Re: Summer transfer window
JBL would bring experience and a bit of quality to the squad . He’s not blisteringly quick but he does have quality. A decent dead ball too.

Re: Summer transfer window
If it is JBL I think he would be better through the middle than out wide
Re: Summer transfer window
Another thing about JBL is he was one of the few brought in that season that looked like someone who was good in the dressing room. He seemed to get on with the old Dyche guard from the clips I saw. I think Parker values that kind of thing quite highly.

Re: Summer transfer window
I'd prefer JBL to Odobert - he'd be our player for a start assuming it's a permanent this time. He was our top scorer in that awful season and was effective, even if he also had some anonymous games. Odobert has the world at his feet for sure but JBL can offer us some end product at this level, he's proven that much.

Regardless of who it is, another winger, you’d imagine benson is definitely leaving and then one of either Tresor koleosho and Amdouni

Re: Summer transfer window
If Cullen and Laurent was our only options then I would be concerned, but they aren’t Hannibal and Cullen would be my preference to start from our current squad.burnley007 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 11:34 amCullen and Laurent. In the Premier League? You wouldn't be concerned???!! Wow.
Laurent is interesting to me clearly from a technical standpoint he probably isn’t at the right level for the prem but his physical attributes could be hugely beneficial I suspect he will be a bit of a surprise package for some.
Also I will point out I said we probably need another signing alongside Cullen and it wouldn’t concern me if we INITIALLY went with what we have. If by the end of the window we haven’t signed someone for that position it would be a concern yes.

Benson
Churlinov
Massengo (in talks)
Sonne
Sambo
Delcrois
Ekdal (I would keep personally)
1 of green or hladky must be on the move as well
Just a few names off the top of my head but there are a number of youngsters in the squad that either need to play or move on loan or permanent somewhere else.

Re: Summer transfer window
Options out wide without putting too much pressure on any of them.
Tchaouna
Edwards
Anthony
Koleosho
And potentially
Tresor
JBL
Of which these latter two can both play in the 10 more so Tresor. We need options and we need to be adaptable.

Think he was deceptively quicker than he looked, had a nice running stride.
I'd be over the moon if he came back, I thought he was an exceptional footballer.

Not sure on exceptional. It’s weird that he’s only really done anything with us in his career. You’d have thought he would have gone back to Germany and kicked on?CoolClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 1:46 pmThink he was deceptively quicker than he looked, had a nice running stride.

Re: Summer transfer window
JBL only played 15 games since leaving.
Berge, wouldn’t have him back as he couldn’t get out of the club quick enough last summer.

Re: Summer transfer window
Purely based on his output for us and watching him play for us. Great touch, could use both feet, top movement.
On the pace aspect - recall the goal he scored from a long ball by Dara O'Shea as an example.
Though as you say, it is a little strange he hasn't done much in Germany.

It's 15 games since joing Stuttgart in Jan. He played 12 times for Hoffenheim also last season. 27 games in a BL season is the vast majority of games.

Re: Summer transfer window
Funny if it's not after two pages of discussing him

I am invested now, if it's not him, sign him anyway.
Re: Summer transfer window
I actually thought JBL was a good player he looked PL quality to me.
The only concern is we are piling up good options out wide again, we need to spread some quality around. I wonder if Edwards could play in the 10?

Turfcast by way of a Mick McCarthy meme saying it's him
Re: Summer transfer window
Said it several times but ‘the 10’ could easily be two 10s in a 3-4-2-1 type shape that Parker used in his previous PL stints and at times last season. Edwards played as an inside 10 for Amorim at Sporting.
It’s JBL.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 2:01 pmI reckon this is a decoy and CT has used his comments to throw us off track so he still has his exclusive.

Re: Summer transfer window
I just hope it's permanent this time. I don't want to sound defeatist but IF we were to go down, he would be absolutely class and probably stick about. I was disappointed we didn't grab him last summer but that was probably difficult after Kompany left.

If it is JBL I don’t see anything wrong with the move at the right price. Can play anywhere in a front 3/4, wasn’t slow and proved he could do it in the PL in a poor Burnley team. It’s not the ST we’re crying out for but as another option I’d be really happy with the move.

Why does this hurt so many on here? He’s a quality PL and international footballer clearly too good for the Championship and he’s done his time there with Blades.
