Stuttgart paid £1.3m for him 6 months ago and he's hardly started a game for them.

I played with Leighton baines at Wigan for a while. But I still to this day say I’ve never seen a left foot like a lad we had in the early 2000’s called John boardman who we signed from Liverpool. Played with him too and he was class.
Crazy how sometimes players just don’t make it

John Boardman looked a decent player when he first came in. Would it have been Stan who signed him?blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 5:49 pmI played with Leighton baines at Wigan for a while. We signed Easton when we got promoted in 2009. Who on earth thought he’d ever be good enough?

It was but Stan didn’t exactly nurture any youth. He didn’t care. Jobs for the old boys he knew until they got too old.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 5:57 pmJohn Boardman looked a decent player when he first came in. Would it have been Stan who signed him?

Stan once told the club’s AGM that we should shut down the youth department. Barry Kilby quickly assured shareholders that it wouldn’t happen.blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 6:10 pmIt was but Stan didn’t exactly nurture any youth. He didn’t care. Imagine the fans of a club (like Norwich) being linked to him and checking out his you tube highlights videos!!!!blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 5:44 pmSpeaking to my Norwich mate about sergant and a player plus money deal. He’d absolutely love benson to go there.
The way he got us over the line that season with his world class goals will stick in the memory for a long time. He was insane. Never known me want a Burnley player to do so well and kick on more than this lad.
He’s still technically the best left foot I’ve ever seen play for us.

Re: Summer transfer window
First I’d heard of that. We weren’t in a good position back then with most good kids going to Manchester, Liverpool or down the road.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 6:22 pmStan once told the club’s AGM that we should shut down the youth department. Was he right or wrong? Did we get anybody through between it being said and JRods breakthrough?

Re: Summer transfer window
I think someone must have played Football Manager at the time as he was a wonderkid on there and ended up at the likes of Chelsea, United or Arsenal.
In fact Hamilton in that era had 3 wonderkids with McCarthur and McCarthy joining Easton for Football Manager mega stardom.

4M euros according to Sky. Bargain that (even if it's twice what Stuttgart paid for him in January).

Well we know it isn't Jordan Henderson, because he is signing for Brentford on Monday has already announced such.

According to Transfer Market Trafford and Dean Henderson use the same agent CAA Stellar.
Weirdly, Henderson was born in Whitehaven so they both hail from Cumberland...
I'm sure it's all coincidental....

He didn't say someone called Henderson was signing for Burnley.
Only that Henderson is signing on Monday.
I think he's meaning Jordan Henderson is signing for Brentford on Monday.
Trying to be funny methinks

There’s no such place as ‘sports medicals’ in Manchester. Burnley do their medicals at Nuffield health in Chester

I liked JBL and he’s got goals in him. Though did nothing at Stuttgart , perhaps was injured or just “didn’t fit “? The kinda player who needs regular pitch time imo .

Tchaouma
Anthony
Koleosho
Edwards
Tresor
Benson
Even if Benson and Tresor leave, we have two for each wide spot. But at the price he's decent cover, amd was definitely one of our better attacking players for a spell under kompany. I just can't see him getting much game time.
