Re: Summer transfer window
I'm presuming the club know what they are doing, but it worries me.
Sending out players on loan is a double edged sort. If they hit the heights, they are one year nearer the end of their contract. If they fail to impress they lose any value they might have had.
It should never have been allowed to get to this state. As I said, I hope they know what they're doing.

I was thinking more that JBL was here when Parker wasnt....so id he a player the recruitment team and certain coaches were keen on more than the manager maybe ? The same posters year after year pretending to be in the know posting fake news constantly. You'd think they would stop after getting so many wrong yet they continue to throw shite at the wall.

at this point, probably easier just to list the handful of players that haven't signed with us...
I've liked the signings but we can only play 11 and will need depth: it looks like we are doing the shotgun approach. hoping that a couple of people will star, and then be sold for a huge profit.

Tchaouna - we’ve no idea how good he is yet and how long it’ll take to settle in.
Edwards - might not make the step up
Koleosho - still very young and raw
Anthony - I think he’ll be alright to be honest but can’t put too much pressure on one player.
Tresor - no idea if he stays or goes
Bruun Larsen - experience, been here before and done it in a chaotic season. In my opinion brings stability to the position whilst allowing others to be bedded in sporadically and or rotated.
We need options and this is a very good one

Talk about glass half empty! We’re in the second week in July and we’ve made 9/10 signings including last seasons loanee signings. There’s still over 7 weeks of the transfer window left, 5 weeks until the start of the season. We’ve have a brilliant window so far with plenty of scope for more ins and outs.AshevilleNCClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 9:24 pmat this point, probably easier just to list the handful of players that haven't signed with us...

I mentioned this earlier this window as a good option. Has a lot of the attributes we need, if he is over his injury. But his contract extension makes it unlikely.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 10:04 pmNo substance to this other than a group WhatsApp but Forest’s Taiwo Awoniyi a possible target.

I love the signings and the depth. It’s seems to be getting a bit unwieldy. I have no doubt that we can field a solid squad next year but the larger the squad , the harder it is to keep players happy and then all of the people you have on your wage bill.martin_p wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 10:33 pmTalk about glass half empty! Re: Summer transfer window
I can't help but feel a bit perplexed by this signing (not the first time for me either recently). I like JBL but he's not moving the needle much, and I'm just not sure why we needed him at this time, with our bloated squad. I would much rather that the money/wages were put towards that strong midfielder or number 9, which is what we are in desperate need of.
Obviously there's a long way to go in this transfer window, and we are going to add, and, based on our squad size, certainly lose more players, but I'm not enamoured with this signing, or tbh the Kyle Walker one (think we'll come to regret it personally, but obviously hope I'm wrong). I just don't think we have the money to throw around at positions we don't need, or take risks on players potentially on the decline.
The other thing that I don't like, is how we always seem to be the team who loan with obligations to buy, but it never happens the other way and we then end up with a stack of players we need to shed each Summer (but still have a lot of wages to fund). When we loan players, we do it with with no obligation to sell at the end, so they return at the end of that season with less time left on their contract. This means they are then normally worth less, and as a result, we end up selling them at a loss, or their contracts expire.
I'm just not sure what we are doing is sustainable for a club of our size. It's like we are trying to mirror Chelsea but without the finances behind us. Hope they know what they are doing, and I guess let's see where we are at when that window slams shut.

I love this, "We've never seen Tchaouma play" or "no idea how good he is".
Well I'd hope having spent 14 million euros on him, the club both have seen him play and have a fair idea of how good he is.

I think he ended up at somewhere like Stalybridge or something. Weird how he never got a chance as his record in the youths was something else from memory.blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 11:18 pmYes. Some really good lads there at that time but didn’t get a sniff under Stan.

That said, Stans record spoke for itself. Certainly for the first 3/4 years. You could hardly drop Payton, Robbie Blake, Gareth Taylor etc.

He was just ok in one of the worst premier league sides ever.
Seems a very weird signing. I just can’t see any starting eleven where he starts for us.

6 goals from 32 games, I think 15 starts, playing out wide is a decent return.

IMO Walker is currently our only one. I would have said Brownhill (although I thought he struggled at this level)

Re: Summer transfer window
They’ll be plenty of games this year, particularly away from home where a tenacious jbl would be really helpful as opposed to a more ‘tippy tappy’ winger like Edward’s . Could maybe also end up in a brownhill type role. Versatile squad player for me, bit jbg like.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 12, 2025 6:31 amProven in what respect?

Re: Summer transfer window
Keeper to replace Trafford when he leaves
Cajuste to replace brownhill
Eriksen or oxlade-chamberlain to provide experience in the middle
Sargent
Then we have a pretty solid squad to give it a right good go

I suspect JBL is to replace Brownhill, playing him through the middle rather than out wide

Re: Summer transfer window
I suspect this is the case. I'm not completely sold on it but he and ramsay could be competing for this spot if Parker is dead against using Flemming or Amdouni behind a striker. You could also see him/Edwards interchanging in the RM and ACM roles if they're on the pitch at the same time. When I think of JBL as cover in a more central role it makes a little more sense. But we need some players out the door. Tresor for example could do the same thing as I describe above so you'd have to deduce with all these wide area signings he's away.

Another months pre-season for Tresor. SP can make a decision after that. There’ll still be 2 weeks left in the window to do whatever is required.
