Andy Diouf’s Burnley move risks falling through….

Looks like agent talk to me

"This form of ultimatum has not gone down well with the player’s entourage,"

As if paying agent's fees wasn't bad enough; we've got to sustain an entourage now.

Hard to know for certain what’s happened here, but from the bits we’re fed it sounds like his agent is stalling on signing a deal in hope other suitors will emerge, feeding news of our accepted offer to the press to get them to hurry along, which would suggest the player isn’t entirely sold on us.

Nothing could put me more off a player who thinks they might be a bit above us, especially when his own fans seem to be celebrating his departure. And even if it’s his agent playing games, I don’t want a player with an idiot agent either. Too high maintenance.

Hope we’ve withdrawn our offer with Lens and are following up other options. I preferred the look of that Ukrainian lad anyway.

A player messing us about doesn’t go down well with us and the fans either. Let’s move on.

Honestly i know very little about Diouf, he maybe a really good player / prospect. However if he does not want to play for Burnley then i hope we move on quickly. We had enough during the VK prem shambles / last summer players seeking a move because VK went / they thought they were big time . I would whole heartedly rather go down fighting with last seasons players and ones who want to be at the club than put up with half a***d players full of ego.

Crap hole near Croydon or a team close to the beautiful Trough of Bowland no contest
I think the player would more likely have looked at it as whether he's living in London or Manchester

At the fixtures launch Matt Williams pointed out that a lot of rumours are agent driven to force the clubs hand but he did also point out that we, as a club, have put rumours out there to help along other transfers. This may be the case here possibly?

The big agent puppet had Cajuste on the cusp of a move to Besiktas over the weekend, but it sounds like he never wanted to go.

Turns out the “here we go” loon gets fed duff information like any other chancer on X.

He does tend to be right most of the time to be fair. Although I much prefer the likes of Mike McGrath and David Ornstein, they're probably even more reliable and don't crave the attention as much as Romano clearly does

Does anyone know if Cajuste is thought to have played well for Ipswich last year?

He clearly made a sufficient enough impression for them to want him back, but it’s obviously a higher demand in the premier league.

Says at the bottom of that article that he was second in the supporters player of the year a few votes behind Liam Delap

Not sure, but it looks like Napoli are after what has become our “going rate” for incoming players and there’s not much evidence in 2025 that paying €10-15m gets you the kind of player that likely to keep you up.

Maybe there’s a bigger financial gamble to come.

Their fans loved him. I watched him a bit when Ipswich were on TV and thought he looked decent. Dynamic, athletic midfielder. Mentioned him as a potential option for us earlier in the window.

We might have an advantage in that Cajuste and our coach, Henrik Jensen, were both at FC Midtjylland together between 2018 and 2022.

There is no logic to selling Esteve - I highly doubt we would even if the interest was there. The player seems sound about saying, he’s contracted till 2029 so his value will maintain (or increase) next summer. Different situation to Trafford who I still believe will go as soon as Newcastle cough up.

I can’t say I know much about Cajuste but it’s good to see another player with Premier League experience. I’m not getting overly interested in this as it appears to be nothing more than a story from a fan site with no source. They could have a good track record though, I suppose.

Rather than embrace modern high speed reporting the Burnley Express and the Blackburn Telegraph have gone even slower with many reports weeks old.In September they will announce the signing of Kyle Walker

Same for me. Always looked forward to the reports. Back in the 70s and 80s although we got the results on the radio (BFBS) all the newspapers (received in Germany a day later generally) only generated reports for the 1st Division. So the welcome papers from home gave me the news and reports of the Clarets.

Fanatik reports on Diego Carlos's imminent transfer from Fenerbahçe to Premier League club Burnley. Diego Carlos, who joined Fenerbahçe from Aston Villa for 11 million euros, is close to finalizing a move to Premier League club Burnley. Negotiations with the English club are nearing completion, and the transfer is expected to be finalized soon. Diego Carlos has struggled to meet expectations at Fenerbahçe due to an injury, which affected his form.

Senne Lammens Transfer from Antwerp to Burnley (5 hours ago)

Senne Lammens has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, such as Manchester United, Sunderland, Leeds United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Burnley. These clubs are reportedly waiting for a goalkeeper to depart before they can pursue Lammens. Although the transfer fee is set at 20 million euros, which could pose a challenge, it is considered manageable for English clubs if they believe Lammens can be their first-choice goalkeeper. According to Marc Overmars, Antwerp's director, numerous clubs are prepared to make a move for Lammens due to his high demand. Antwerp has preemptively signed Japanese goalkeeper Taishi Brandon Nozawa as a replacement, suggesting they expect Lammens to leave. Despite the interest from various clubs, Lammens' transfer situation remains largely stagnant, with Galatasaray emerging as the most tangible possibility so far. Nevertheless, Lammens is keen on joining a Premier League team.

Watford’s Mamadou Doumbia:

This sounds like the polar opposite of what we need. I can't see it being true, Parker seems pretty sensible with his signings.

Sergeant makes a lot more sense. IMO We need someone with experience up top that works hard and offers something when he isn't scoring goals or getting much of the ball. A younger Ashley Barnes basically.

Watford fans seem somewhat surprised by the size of our bid

From what I have seen so far this summer, it's pretty obvious to me that we are looking for 2 strikers, one that is established, has shown some proof that he can do it at this level or has experience, and the other striker being a young one with promise, so I am not worried yet.
