Cullen for the last 3 months of our last PL season was up to speed and didn’t look a bad player at all. This time he’ll be ready to go from day 1. He does need a power house beside him.

Kompany's team also had a naive coaching team stood on the sidelines..... we have a different coaching and leadership team this time.
I agree. I think Kompany was WAY in over his head. Parker's experience should be worth a few points (provided we don't can him by Christmas time).

Scott Parker was relieved of his duties by Bournemouth after just 4 matches, the last of which was a 9-0 reverse away at Liverpool. This followed a home victory in the first game and defeats against Man City and Arsenal, so a tough set of opening fixtures.
Ironically, the 4th match of the new season sees us at home to Liverpool. Scott will definitely be hoping for a far better result and outcome following the end of the game.

Players with the temperament of Xhaka will struggle going from being part of a team that dominates games to being on the other side in a team being dominated
On the flipside he could be a leader that drives on players around him, and ups their game.
Though I feel predominantly if he is physically on the downturn himself it's hard to do this.
Personally I don't agree. After watching him for the swiss several times he absolutely seems to relish the challenge of going up against the better clubs.

Was surprised to see in The Athletic that we are paying Walker £160k a week. I’d be surprised if we’ve even broke 100k a week in the past.
I don't see any way we are paying Walker anything remotely close to 160K a week

No truth in bid for Doumbia according to Matt Scranton.

There's no way BFC are paying Walker 160k/week  When Joe Hart came here wasn't he still under contract to City but not wanted by Pep? Apparently the clubs and Hart came up with some kind of 'arrangement', maybe the Walker deal is similar?

Good summary. Hannibal will be useful so I think we have 2 that could play regularly but they need real quality bringing in with them. From what I've seen of Parker I think he will want to invert last seasons one holding midfielder with two 8s quite often. So I think we we will spend big money on a big physical holder to play alongside Cullen.

Laurent can go for me, he's nowhere near.

I think whatever deal Walker is on, it has to be a first for the club. I just can’t see he’d be here given the offers he must have had on the table, unless we were offering him huge money.

160k seems unrealistic but not beyond the realms of possibility for year one. Presumably there’s a massive reduction in year two should we go down, and he’s likely to leave anyway I would have thought.

I'd really love to be wrong but I don't see Pinamonti scoring many in the PL. His record in Serie A, where the level seems to get lower each season, is barely one in four. But who knows?

How about inverting the full backs, using a double pivot and two 6’s, an 8, a false 9, 2 tens and a 9.5?

Is inverting a simple triangle really that complex a concept for you?
I'd be less willing to admit that if I were you.

I really want there to be something in the Pinamonti links, looks to be able to score all type of goals and looks fantastic in the air, goal scoring record isn’t great but to get 10 and 11 goals in his last 2 Serie A seasons with two struggling teams isn’t to be sniffed at

Joe Hart still had a year left on his City contract when he joined us.
They agreed to pay 50% of that with BFC paying the rest for the year

Suspect something similar with Walker

Why does it matter? £160k a week for 2 years is £16m. Is that any worse than paying £16m transfer fee for a much lesser player then £40k a week in wages for 2 years? All that matters is the Total Cost of Ownership

It matters because if I’m Esteve’s agent and I see us paying 160k then I’m going to be asking for more for my client.

That said, I do find it hard to believe it’s a straight 160k. I’d expect a large portion of that is made up of some handshake from City and bonuses contingent on staying up which might, overall, equate to 160k

I doubt any of our current central midfielders have the physical attributes, strength or pace for the Premier League
Why would you think that?

Cullen struggled in the early prem matches he was over ran with 1 pivot once we changed to a double pivot and he returned he was much improved and was certainly good enough. Laurent has the physical attributes for the prem and will let nobody down but you wouldn’t want him starting too many more a last 20 minutes shore if player. I believe that Hannibal will step up and be our best midfielder next season technically very good and physically good as well with decent pace his only let down was his attitude which you wouldn’t hope he has learned about and improved it for the prem.

I agree though we need a signing in here for me this should be someone who either breaks or gets close to our transfer record probably our most important signing.

No you wouldn't. That is like saying the cleaner at the bank I work for wants to 10x her salary because she found out what I am being paid.

Kyle Walker is a current England International with countless caps and has been playing at the highest level for 10 years. There is nobody in our squad anywhere near his CV.

Outstanding energy and stamina, and with his recently discovered knack for goals, perfect for SP’s advanced midfielder role. However, lacks the presence and range of passing to play deeper in the premier league as we’ve found out in the seasons he’s played there. Big miss overall and hard to replace.
Thanks
Pretty much how I’d see it

It’s almost a probably not good enough to dominate a midfield in the Premier League especially in a weaker team but is probably better than we can get to replace him including as a goal threat of which we have very few

So it's the idea of a triangle you found too complicated?
I'm starting to understand why English football was so far behind for so many years. If somebody mentioned a triangle they got told they were making a simple game too difficult!

Thank God for the influx of foreign coaches.

Nothing new with triangles. Saw this in the 70s.

Update on Sargent from Norwich journalist on Twitter:

'Still no acceptable bids received by #NCFC for Josh Sargent. Wolfsburg and Burnley have been getting closer but certainly nothing imminent and little change over the last couple of days. Sargent is in the Netherlands with his team-mates.'

What I meant to say was that recruitment is probably more likely to be involved with loans/transfers to/from Espanyol than on a jolly with the boys on the Algarve.
