It's already been established you could do the same work wise (loosely meant) at either location so you are left with the attraction of portugal & all that. Have a good evening.

Think it was a loan with an obligation when they stayed up.Claretnick wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 1:30 pmThe player was on loan at Cagliari last season and he joined them permanently on 1st July on a 4 year deal. Maybe we were interested before he signed on permanently......
So official on July 1 but quite within their rights to sell him if an offer comes in.

You seriously can’t see any of the benefits of a training camp?Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 6:18 pmIt's already been established you could do the same work wise (loosely meant) at either location so you are left with the attraction of portugal & all that. Have a good evening.

but they've only spent 3M in the last 7 years

we can't be getting much.
We did send Bastien to them on loan though.

I wouldn't expect much, if anything at all, for Obafemi. Bad signing all round.

If this was purely about Football then 100% you are correct but the main focus of camps like this are not Football.

Obafemi signing after signing foster never made sense.
Also Obafemi’s best football at swansea came in a front two with piroe, so coming to a team who only played one up front again never made any sense.

Re: Summer transfer window
No doubt. Subjective comment on the second part and we probably are but I'm not so sure about the 'by far' part. But the key thing is rhat we're not talking about sending our star men to them are we?CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Tue Jul 15, 2025 1:48 pmAccording to Transfrmarkt Espanyol have a squad value of about €65m, about a quarter of our value, and they have only 2 players valued over €6m now they have sold their best player, the keeper, to Barca.
They would love many of our squad, no doubt. La Liga or not, we have the better team. By far.
We're talking about sending them players that have struggled to get into a championship club, in some cases being 3rd or third choice, and fully believing a La Liga club to be frothing about being sent a 22 year old 4th choice left back that battles to be first pick at Burton on loan.
Re: Summer transfer window
Trafford has put a picture up in the gym which has the words 'On a mission' on the walls. I may be wrong but I wouldn't have thought that was a Portuguese gym.
Do we know if he's gone with the group?

Not at all I've simply expressed my opinion. In my mind forums are supposed to be about a diversity of different opinions. It's possible for people to agree & disagree. I'm reluctant to continue because like the amdouni thread it seems like an herculean effort for some people to bypass what some people are saying & simply lack no ideas to contribute themselves.JarrowClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 8:03 pmI can never tell if you believe what you say, are being deliberately obtuse or just on a wind up. Doesn’t seem to be there judging from the club videos/photos, which is strange (unless he’s off)
Re: Summer transfer window
Possibly to do with being involved in the national team after the season had finished. Sounds like we've given him so extra time off, possibly to try and keep him happy

Potentially asked not be involved then if the deal is pretty close. Only reason I could see him missing the whole training camp for barring personal issues.

Not sure I questioned you being able to have an opinion, many times on this forum I have said you and others are entitled to an opinion even if I don’t agree there are elements of what you said that are factually incorrect though. I have partly agreed with that opinion and question where it is incorrect ie you called it a Holiday but it can’t be if you are away with work and you said they can do it in Padiham that is only partly correct, the main reason clubs go away football wise is so they have a captive audience and real world home dramas don’t tend to get in the way of training as much. Added to that it allows for proper team building and bonding while you are in each others pockets.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 10:03 pmNot at all I've simply expressed my opinion. It's a doss you like to believe otherwise fair dos. We can move away from gawthorpe & portugal training side & all that jazz. The team bonding & getting to know each other can be conducted in any social environment such as paint balling or ice skating. etc. I'll leave you to believe the bonding can only occur on Portuguese soil.JarrowClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 17, 2025 10:30 pmNot sure I questioned you being able to have an opinion, many times on this forum I have said you and others are entitled to an opinion even if I don’t agree there are elements of what you said that are factually incorrect though. It is BETTER to be away from home as if you are at home you have normal life distractions which will affect attendance naturally. Team building/bonding is not as effective if you don’t have everyone there it just stands to reason. Granted when you are away there will still be things such as injury which will mean some will miss bits but it will be a lot less than when they are in Gawthorpe.
What I have mentioned is more or less a well documented fact for these pre season camps.
Anyway have a good evening

I come on this thread daily to catch up with transfer rumours I may have missed or the like. Often, like today, I have the immense pleasure of witnessing some Jack Ashton run the thread off the rails in a totally irrelevant random direction. Thank you. That is 10 minutes of my life I just spent scrolling, that I will never get back. Life is short.

Some talk of Koleosho going to Espanyol. Be interesting if it is more than a loan deal. Would it be a case of paying Paul by robbing Peter or vice versa?
