I perhaps should add that I am on a clinical trial.

4 weeks at 3mg, followed by 8 weeks at 7mg,

Followed by either, continued Ozempic, or a placebo for a designated period of time.

Mine arrived today. Out for a meal for my lads 11th birthday on Monday. Would I be better starting after that? Could potential side effects ruin it?

Either start Tuesday or Sunday.
If you have a reaction tomorrow you can make a further decision Monday morning.
I thought I'd had a reaction. A tingling in my left palm, just below my little finger, but I think it was most likely an overactive imagination.
For me, the Ozempic tablet has a powdery covering which is a little unpleasant, but that's me being picky.
I think I'll know if they put me on a placebo.

On my first week I haven't changed my diet at all, but have found no desire to snack, or eat after my evening meal.

I’m on a healthy diet anyway but it’s the days when I just lose it and binge that scuppers me. Hoping it sorts those binge feeling’s out.

What does it do regarding alcohol consumption?
On the lower doses it made me feel a bit sick. Prob cos I still ate a decent amount

Higher dose no issues, although 5 is prob my limit now

So, feeling sick because you don't eat needs ameliorating by taking more drugs to make sure you don't eat. It's a strange world.

Have you used it or are you just here to throw your opinion about? You clearly have no idea what goes on in people’s heads and lives.

What? I didn't feel sick because I didn't eat?

I felt sick because I ate decent and drank. Now I'm eating less I don't feel sick when I drink

2 weeks in and 10lb lighter. I can’t get my head around it to be honest. Had a few side effects last week but I’m blown away by it. It’s completely taken away the urge to binge on rubbish. Still been cycling and walking so that’s obviously helped. It’s certainly doing what I wanted it to.

Thought this thread had died a natural death, so didn't update my current weight (loss).

June 21st, 16st 7
June 28th, 16st 3
July 5th, 16st 1
July 12th, 15st 13

15 years since I was under 16st, so very happy with the loss, and happy that it's nice and gradual.

Will be joining my local gym at month end. Popped down yesterday to have a look around.

I’ve been on it 3 months and lost 32lbs. I’ve dieted before and around this time I would be obsessed with all the things I wasn’t having. On MJ that is simply not a thing. I eat a small portion of whatever I fancy and feel satisfied. In fact I sometimes have to remember to eat. Lots of chicken in my diet because that is what tastes the best. Alcohol, fatty and sweet founds have lost their appeal.

Starting weight,
June 21st, 16st 7
July 19th, 15st 11

Steady away, 4 weeks, weight loss of 10 lbs.
No side effects for me.
Just starting to notice the difference myself.
No hunger pangs.
No desire to have my usual late night sandwich.
Another 8 weeks and I'll do a blood pressure check.

Been a weird couple of weeks for me. First week lost 3lbs and second week 8lbs. Jabbed left side of stomach first jab and no side effects. Right side 2nd week and had an upset stomach and sulphur burps. Jabbed in the left again this week and no side effects. Less appetite suppressant on the left though. Strange! Got one more 2.5mg then moving up to 5mg.

On a less serious note, in the 90's you could take a wrap of wizz and not eat for days, the weight literally dropped off. You also got more done, you couldn't sit still for 5 minutes!

I started to take it in January and have lost 50lbs in total in about 5 months, it has different impacts on different people - I didn’t really need / want to go above 5mg because I got a lot of fatigue from it, but nothing else weirdly.

It’s not a quick fix but it helped me to make the right decisions over a long period of time - something I find very difficult. When you come off it, you still need to work - it’s not like it completely resets your brain. But you can use the time taking the drug to train yourself into the right habits and so far I have been doing okay.

It got me to a place where for the first time I felt confident to join a gym so I have done that (I used to go running but I live in a steep and slippery hill nowadays). So for me it’s not just a case of losing the weight, it’s about enabling you to make healthy decisions in life generally.

Good luck everyone!

I said no side effects, but I have noticed that I'm experiencing more tiredness, nodding off in the living room, so I'll monitor that.

What were peoples experiences in months one, presumably taking 2.5mg, versus the following months if you then moved up to 5mg and beyond?

Did you lose weight in month one? Did you still feel hungry but get fuller more quickly, or was there no effect? Were you tired from less food? Did you feel nauseous - plus any tips if you did? What’s the best time of day to take it? And lastly, what location did you find best take inject?

I’m losing a lot so far (11lbs) and I’m on jab 3. I take it in the morning when I get up or when I return from a nightshift. First jab was left side of stomach and had no real side effects. Second one was right side and had diarrhoea and eggy burps but lost 8lb. Went back in the left on jab 3. Getting a bit peckish now so moving up to 5mg. It does still make you feel like you want to avoid rubbish food though.
I cycle and the last ride was a struggle. I’ve got some high5 powder for my water bottles so hoping that helps.

Could I just ask please - is the Mounjaro jab officially approved for weight loss yet? If I were to begin using would it be wise to run it via my GP first or just "crack on"? Thanks in advance :)

A GP will prescribe it still, but it'll be through one of the online sellers. You have to submit your info and they can still deny it you

Re: Mounjaro / Counterweight Path to Remission

Post by KernowHouseClaret » Tue Jul 22, 2025 10:46 am

For anyone who is diabetic and taking Mounjaro it may also be worthwhile asking your GP about the Counterweight NHS Diabetes Path to Remission program.
This is a funded slimfast style approach to weight loss, with the aim of reducing BMI, weight and HbA1C to levels where medication is no longer needed.
This is also a fully supported 12month program with guidance and advice along the way from a designated coach.
Some excellent results are already in with some people losing over 25Kg in weight and full reduction in medication.

I started this yesterday as well as continuing with Mounjaro, it's not easy but if it works it'll be worth it

I used Asda for mine. They send a letter to your GP so it’s all official.

For those who are cost conscious the link below shows the cheapest providers for each dose and discount codes

https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/

You may also notice that after the 4th dose there is liquid left in the pen. There is a way using an insulin needle to extract the 5th / "golden" dose

I started on Trulicity which gave me horrendous side effects not least vertigo and nausea for a coue of weeks. I had to hold on to rails etc to walk between couch and kitchen etc.

Then moved onto ozempic which was hellish for the guts if you went anywhere near anything "naughty"

Now on Mounjaro and its a lot better, albeit more expensive for me as not covered by Czech Health Insurance

Went to the docs today for a shingles injection.
Whilst there they did my blood pressure. Last time I had a top reading of 155. Today 135 over 89. Massive improvement. Very happy with that.

I think I’d be wary of that too, Casper. They do ask those questions when you apply so maybe they wouldn’t prescribe it. I’d certainly speak to your doctor.

Nice work DC. I’m 16lbs down in 4 weeks. I do seem to get a dicky tummy a couple of days after each jab though, so that helps. Jumped up to 5mg last week. I feel a bit tired as well so hoping that eases. Mind you, I’m on nights at the moment too!

My only side effect was a low-grade hangover/ tiredness the day after. It was a bit irritating but I found that having the jab earlier in the day, and keeping hydrated, and making sure I had water when I was resting really helped manage the effects. Also making sure I didn’t have too much planned on the following day in case I needed a bit of a rest.

Obviously the timing would vary depending on working patterns, but that’s what worked best for me for the 6 months I was on it.

We are all on slightly different paths.
I don't have jabs, just a tablet first thing every morning. 3mg the first 4 weeks. 7mg for the next 8 weeks. Today I begin week7.
After week 12, I will get my next batch. No idea what they will send. I expect it to remain at 7mg, but don't know for sure.
My morning bowl of cereal has reduced by half, otherwise I struggle to finish.
Not snacking at all and no late night sandwich.
I'm not being careful with what I eat. I'm just on smaller portions. No hunger pangs at all. Don't even think about food.
Started at 16-7.
Now 15-7.
Next target 14-7. That was the weight I stayed at for longest, roughly aged from 25 to 45.

Have waited a week or so to pluck up courage to post on this:
I have an 18 Oct hip replacement booked, consultant advised me to loose weight.
Ok.
Decided to go with a company called Juniper (lots of support)
Week one no real problems, 11 lbs loss
Week two a few days constipation, even tho drinking lots of water.

The thing I’ve found works well so far is Gusto meals, smaller potions, and you know exactly what you are putting in, at times I have to force myself to eat.
Down to 1700 calories a day not hit that yet.
Wife has broke her leg so I’m doing all the cooking, which helps me control what I’m putting in.
So far so good as far as I’m concerned.
Like others will post results good and bad.

Nice work everyone! Great to hear all the progress being made :)

I’ve found that a cheeky bowl of All Bran (or similar, my grandad would be proud) and some fruit helps with the fibre / movements, as well as the water. I generally feel a bit dehydrated for a few days after jab day so lots of fluids are a great idea. Them fizzy electrolyte tablets are good too.

I started on Mounjaro last oct, lost 3 1/2 stone upto feb then came off.
Still calorie counting and started walking to work and back and gym 3 times a week, still managed to keep it off.
I do feel hungry alot of the time though

I just stopped.
Started on 2.5mg for 1 months, upto 5mg for a few mths then 7mg and stopped.
I do have an emergency 5mg pen in the fridge just incase.
Amazing how it works. Was paying privately anything from £90 upto about £140 for the 7mg

Managing roughly 2 pounds a week.
7 weeks from 16-7 to 15-5.
Had a bit of a blip yesterday, match day.
Had a pie, pre-game and a Maccy D's on the way home.
If I ever do similar again, I will keep away from the scales for 48 hours, lol.
Hoping for 15-2, 15-3 next Saturday.

Nice one DC. I don’t think I could even manage a pie or maccies. I get rubbish side effects for around 3 days post jab. Nearly wrapped my hand in the other night! It’s certainly not been easy. Just back from a bike ride and I’m bloody knackered, which is probably due to a lack of fuel. On the plus side I’m losing well.
