Looks good on paper.RVclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 4:09 pmReports from West Ham that they could be signing Wilson.
Aside to that, we’ve been linked with a 6foot 3 attacking midfielder from Croatia, Niko Jankovic. The Croatian piece that this article cites reckons we have scouted him, along with several others. Can’t see another attacking midfielder, unless one or two are leaving.

Re: Summer transfer window
Sorry Ian, but if Mrs Trafford couldn't wait till the proper time to get down to the Etihad to haggle for the big bucks in young James's next contract then I'm not sure we need to be breaking out the tissues for him....they're big boys and girls now and they know full well that nowt happens till the fee is sorted.IanMcL wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 1:02 pmI feel sorry for James Trafford. Burnley has agreed he can move on, so he is in nomansland at Tuef Moor. However, Newcastle, who have been 'wanting' him for 2 seasons, are not ready to pay a just fee for the next England keeper. Their messing him about has led to City turning his head, however, it appears they don't want to pay the right price, either.
It must be distressing for the young lad, who just gets a 'you are nor worth it' message from 2 big clubs.

Re: Summer transfer window
I'm not at all - we've signed some good players, but we have needed a proper striker since we lost Chris Wood and haven't managed to find one. Callum Wilson, even if just a bench player, isn't solving that issue.ollieclarets8 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 4:16 pmI agree with what you say about it coming across as a bit desperate. But you're ignoring the players we have already signed. You're not alone though - had we made the signings later in the window, people would be saying how well we are doing. Look at our players - if we go down, it's massive compared to other Championship teams.
Also, Kyle Walker has a season in him in the Champ.
Kyle Walker is a different beast, never really lost significant time with injury and is still playing to a high level.

Man City managed it. They won the Prem without one. Players can chip in if you have the right wide players. You say we haven't had one since Chris Wood - we got 100 points last season.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 4:40 pmI'm not at all - we've signed some good players, but we have needed a proper striker since we lost Chris Wood and haven't managed to find one. We have entirely different requirements than Man City, unless you think we will be controlling games like they did and have world-class midfielders in our team?ollieclarets8 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 4:43 pmMan City managed it. We got 101 points two seasons ago, bagged for fun, came up to the PL struggled to score goals and went down with less than 25 points.
Not panicking or worrying, but it's pretty obvious — we need someone who can lead the line, hold the ball up and score from 1/4 / 1/2 chances.

Wilson’s hamstrings have gone. Would be a waste of a signing.

Perhaps we’re thinking of signing Wilson, then he can’t score against us.

I see this as: if we sign him then we support him and give him a fair chance
If we don't sign him we've "dodged a bullet" as they say on here.

Brentford's star defender has been Nathan Collins
Without him they will struggle and as said previously Wissa would be a massive blow. Imo replacing Frank with pundit and ex Rover was a hugh mistake.

Happy to agree to disagree as us being promoted after what happened last summer feels like a free hit. There's absolutely no need to worry.

Something worth considering - we didn’t see Beyer last season (we know he is prem quality). Tresor untapped potential and finally Ramsey - all are the equivalent of potential new signings this year and maybe just need a opportunity

He played really well towards the end of their season in a more 'progressive' role under Lampard. I was impressed every time I caught them on Sky.RVclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 6:34 pmLinked with Cov right back /wing back Milan van Erwijk. It would also suggest that Kyle Walker has been signed to play RCB in a back 3, not as the RWB.

Re: Summer transfer window
There's one player in the squad in particular who this suits down to the ground. Ekdal in the centre of the 3 with the pace of Esteve and Walker next to him to protect against his biggest weakness.ollieclarets8 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 6:46 pmAnother right back would be interesting. He could be an absolute revelation in that role if he can beat Tuanzebe and Beyer to the shirt.
It may also explain why Delcroix is still here.

From videos I’ve seen of the training ground sessions and matches so far, that’s where Ekdal has been playing.Goliath wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 6:58 pmThere's one player in the squad in particular who this suits down to the ground. Thought he was quite decent towards the end of the season.
Although he did drop some Muric level clangers last season for Coventry. Wasn’t it two own goals in one game.

Dropped a clanger in the play off semi didn't he? Short back pass in the last minute?

Re: Summer transfer window
Not sure he’d be as good in the press as Brownhill, but Ramsey could already be his replacement in the squad.
Looks as if we will be adopting a 3/5 at the back shape this season which makes me wonder where Ramsey would actually fit in. However we aren’t necessarily going to play 3/5 at the back every game. Having the options to chop and change to suit different games or in play is a good thing to have.
Another option in that shape is to convert the two wingers in to two “10s” of which Ramsey could also fit in.
For me it needs to be a quality defensive midfielder or even two.

I thought we were already stocked with right backs, I'm assuming Sonne will definitely go out on loan or be sold.
It would also suggest Tuanzebe is cover at CB rather than RB?
The Cov lad is class and definitely a right wing back which as has been mentioned already would suggest we are playing 3 / 5 at the back.
He's quick, very quick, pace is obviously something we are concentrating on.
