Doumbia and Sargent fit that profile. I would be more than happy with those 2.BigChaCha wrote: ↑Wed Jul 16, 2025 11:56 amFrom what I have seen so far this summer, it's pretty obvious to me that we are looking for 2 strikers, one that is established, has shown some proof that he can do it at this level or has experience, and the other striker being a young one with promise, so I am not worried yet.

Pinamonti has a respectable goal scoring record (all in Serie A) but Italian strikers have a poor record in the Premier League.

I read somewhere that they were only offering 2.6M for Ederson
That can't be right can it?
Man City won't accept that unless that's for a season long loan

What do you feel Edersons value should be? There's a reason why his appearances have dropped, and his performances

Tbh I’ve absolutely no idea what a player is worth these days. All seems to be structured around PSR, length of contracts and future sell on potential.
Ederson at only 31 years of age going for a reported 3m seems odd.

Both Ederson & Ortega have 11 months left on their City contracts.
3 million seems low when transfermarket has Ederson at 20 million and Ortega at 8 million.

Just can't come to terms with the price of under £3m. What did we sell Muric for ??-was it £10m ??, in which case you would expect £15m at least for Ederson. Still amazed a PL side like Villa for example would not be interested, with so much talk of Martinez leaving them.

Manchester City are in talks now with Burnley to lower the £40 million buy-back clause, but the deal still depends on either ortega or ederson leaving Manchester City.

Ortega + Bobb = £20 million
Phillips Loan @ £5 million + £15 million cash
Total £40 million.
Win - Win
City only have a £15 million PSR payment for a £40 million player and we receive our initial outlay plus 3 players.

Not sure Oscar Bobb is what we need, he's a left footer who plays on the right wing where we already have Edwards and Tchaouna. Nico O'Reilly would be a better fit.

Sorry, that's (using your figures) £40 million away from getting around any PSR issues. Player swap deals are evaluated as individual transactions. Was it UEFA or PL that sanctioned Chelsea and Villa last year for player swap?billyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 10:52 pmOrtega + Bobb = £20 million

If City buy JT for £40m and, for illustration, it's a 4 year contract, then amortisation is £10m per year.
If City sell Bobb for £20m then, as an academy graduate, that's £20m profit when sale made.
City have no need to fear PSR impact of deals accounted for in this manner.
A little bit more complicated for Burnley, because JT signed 2 years ago for, for simplicity, £15m on 5 year contract. So, amortisation over 2 years = £6 and PSR profit on sale = £40m less (£15m - £6m) = £31m. (Not the same profit on sale calc if JT sold to NUFC and City want their sell-on share).

City never need to fear sanctions as they like Chelsea are never going to get punished as their legal teams are far too savvy.

I don't want to drag this into yet another PSR debate on this thread, and I understand amortisation, but I'm sure Trafford only signed a 4 year contract.

Yes, but this time next year he has less than 11 months left and will probably be back in the Championship. Peak price is likely to be now, after a fabulous season and with City wanting a new first choice keeper.ollieclarets8 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 12:11 pmThis seems to be always accurate:

I agree with you. I think we're in a good position though to play the game because clubs will also see next summer where they'll have more competition.summitclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 1:45 pmYes, but this time next year he has less than 11 months left and will probably be back in the Championship. So this summer is the time to make it happen for the buying club.

Having read the article on Trafford/Ortega swap I'm convinced that some of these websites read our forum and start a rumour. While it would be a good deal for us I'm not so sure it will happen.

McGrath originally linked Vardy as well as Wilson, you wonder if there’s a possibility there as time is shifting on and he’s still without a deal.

You’re thinking of Oršić from Dinamo Zagreb. Didn’t he turn up at Southampton the summer after we’d tried to sign him in the previous January window? Probably a bit more complicated than angling for a pay rise.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 11:31 amWe were after another Rijeka player a couple of years ago, can't remember his name.
