Trying to sign Coventry players...... no thanks..... they are still looking for a rival aren't they? Don't think they have forgiven us for being interested in O'Hare and Gyokeres.
As above they think they are better than us. Not sure why, but they definitely do. Really strange club that's almost isolated / marooned with a fan base that are just so desperate to call anyone a rival. None of the Brum / Black Country clubs are interested. Even Leicester can't be bothered with them.

This must be the same Gyokeres that’s supposed to be the messiah for Arsenal. Looking at his track record in this country, he doesn’t seem to have had much success. But then he suddenly seems to bag a ridiculous amount of goals for Sporting and hey presto.mybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 1:12 amTrying to sign Coventry players...... no thanks..... they are still looking for a rival aren't they? Re: Summer transfer window
Representatives from Burnley were in Croatia last night to attend the CL qualifying match between Rijeka and Ludogorets (source Novi List, Rijeka local paper). Although not specified, they were almost certainly watching an attacking midfielder called Toni Fruk. Scouts from Verona were also at the game.
https://www.novilist.hr/sport/utakmicu- ... h-stozera/
Fruk, 24, is being followed by a number of European clubs after two excellent seasons at Rijeka. He helped his club win the double last season scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists. Some German clubs have been linked with him.
Fruk has recently been called up by Croatia.
He's technically good, reads the game well and has good "involvement" stats.
Rijeka are reported to want €9m for him but I suspect they would accept less as that would explode their transfer record.
Fruk will go of that everybody's certain. However, it's quite common for Croatian players to stay in the summer until their club is qualified, or not, for the group phase of one of the European competitions, in Rijeka's case the CL.

Who’s the Luton centre back we are linked too ?
My mates son played against Luton pre season friendly last night. Tackled a CB and the fella got injured. Luton Players went mad told him he was about to go Burnley and just back from injury.

Going off their match report, it’s this guy…
Two minutes later, the Town were forced into an early change when Teden Mengi was stretchered off after being on the receiving end of a crunching challenge. He was replaced by Christ Makosso.
Think I remember some links to Mengi early in the window but I can’t see us going for another CB.
Re: Summer transfer window
Last week the French press was reporting that he was going to Nantes for 8 to 10 million euros. Plays number 10. Presumably a replacement for Brownhill.ecc wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 7:12 amRepresentatives from Burnley were in Croatia last night to attend the CL qualifying match between Rijeka and Ludogorets (source Novi List, Rijeka local paper). Rijeka are still in the Champions League, drew 0-0 at home last night. Rumour is that their result in the return leg could have a big influence on whether he stays or leaves.
Re: Summer transfer window
Yes, it's hard to think of another set of fans that have as big a chip on their shoulder as Coventry fans do. I remember having a bit of back and forth with a fan on Twitter a couple of years ago. I think it was during the O'Hare interest. He was insistent Coventry were this huge sleeping giant. I agreed that Coventry was a big City, and therefore had the opportunity to get large attendances, but that's about it. He started getting abusive towards Burnley so I stayed very matter of fact. We've played nearly 1,000 more matches in the top flight than Coventry, we've won more than Coventry over the years, we've been the PL a lot more recently, played in Europe more recently etc. Nothing could change his tune that we were a tinpot outfit and they were massive. A very bizarre attitude; an inferiority complex and some!

Fingers crossed for his sake that it’s not a serious injury and he can maybe recover and join before the window closes.

Ten Hag: Leverkusen cannot let Xhaka leave
Granit Xhaka is a key figure for Bayer Leverkusen and the Bundesliga side cannot afford to let the Swiss midfielder leave, manager Erik ten Hag has said.
Leverkusen have lost playmaker Florian Wirtz and defender Jeremie Frimpong to Premier League champions Liverpool, while centre back Jonathan Tah has moved to Bayern Munich.
Former Arsenal midfielder Xhaka has been linked with a move to Sunderland, with Sky Sports News reporting on Tuesday that he has agreed personal terms.
Xhaka's agent told Sky in Germany on Tuesday that they have "reached an agreement in principle with Sunderland.
Responding to the agent's comments, Ten Hag told German media: "The agent can say anything. But this club has already lost three important players.
"We won't let any more players go, that's not possible. That would neglect the structure and also the culture of the squad.
"It's clear — Granit is a leader, he has signed here for five years and has three years left on his contract. He's too important for us to let him go."

I'm surprised we're not hearing more about potential exits unless agents are being unusually quiet. Especially if we're still looking at ACMs coming in. You'd have thought at this stage Parker would ideally be trimming the group he's working with, but perhaps that's the case and we've just no takers atm

Re: Summer transfer window
There were reports that Brentford, Forest and Fulham were looking at him a few weeks back. He's a good ball player who doesn't mind taking the ball on the turn deep. Currently if Cullen gets injured with Massengo gone, we don't really have an option. He'd be a decent one I think. I'd much rather we be looking at midfielders who can operate further back than ACMs. Or at least the rare "box to box" cm which Brownhill wasn't far off.

I'm sure we will hear and be more active moving players on after this weekends double header, with two games we will need a big squad as most players will probably only get 60mins into there legs, as well as watching the returning injured players.willsclarets wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 9:33 amI'm surprised we're not hearing more about potential exits unless agents are being unusually quiet. I'm not sure we do want rid of Hladky. Most prem sides will want a decent quality 3rd choice keeper. More likely that Green leaves on loan somewhere

There are two types of journalists:
1. Those in the trusted circle of the club, that can use those contacts to verify the details revealed from type 2
2. Those with no relationship to risk at the clubs and contacts with agents. They release the early speculation and exclusives

Re: Summer transfer window
It doesn't say who they were watching. I presumed and presume it was Fruk because he was the star last season and has been tipped to leave since May.
Rijeka have to sell players: they sold three in January but still managed to win the League and Cup. Last summer they sold Franjo Ivanović to Union Saint Gilloise where he had a very promising first season and is liable to move.
I think Fruk would, as dibraidio said, fit in the role Josh Brownhill played last season. Fruk would be ideal for the Championship IMHO or indeed L1 hence the interest of Nantes. €8m is massive for Rijeka. I suspect Fruk will want away even if they qualify for the CL given his age. He's already played abroad - Fiorentina- but it didn't work out. He will be keen to land a big contract whilst he can.
Whether he or Janković comes or not, I like the way we're looking at different options.

I’d personally want the Serbian lad from Millwall over any championship striker. Granted only ever saw snippets of highlights of him but always looked a handful and can shift for a lad over 6ft. Plenty of growth too with him only being 20.

Re: Summer transfer window
We were being linked regularly with players up to the Kyle Walker signing and then came JBL but since links have really been drying up except for crocked, washed up strikers on a possible free. However I am convinced we will announce incomings as soon as the Trafford deal is finalised and predict a replacement GK, and then a defensive midfielder and a striker one of which will break our current transfer record deal. I also think it will go quiet again until the last few days of the window closing when another midfielder and another striker will come in plus a couple of loans with one of these yet another transfer record. I also think we will offload a round 10 to 12 players at least in either sales or loans before the close.

I’m envisaging a couple of surprises again, out of the blue like Walker and JBL.
Re: Summer transfer window
Sargent is a better version of Flemming as a striker. Offers the same qualities but is technically sharper and more natural as a striker. If Parker wants the striker to play the same role this season as he had Flemming playing in last season then IMO Sargent is perfect.willsclarets wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 8:31 pmFar too much. Burnley want to sell James Trafford before the end of July to avoid breaching PSR rules.
They’ve told Newcastle the deal must be done this month or he won’t be sold to them, that’s probably why the report about City wanting to close the deal before the end of the month came out
