Krakow and Prague Restaurants/Bars Recommendations

Hi all
Coming over to Europe August 4th and I would appreciate any recommendations for restaurants and bars in Krakow and Prague.
I know UTC is a great scource to get information, not been to either of them.

Moo Moo steak restaurant is really nice. I think there are three but the best one is at the bottom left of the small square (next to the main square). It isn't dear either for the steaks you get. There is also an indian on the left as you go down the small square. That is very nice but they do tend to be a bit American in rushing you to get the table empty.

To be honest we haven't had a bad meal yet and have been over a dozen times to Krakow.

ZizkovClaret gave me one for Krakow yesterday on the holidays thread.
The Black Duck, very central. There are 4 of us going and a couple of fussy buggers. Checked it out online today and it got double thumbs up allround. He also advised booking as it gets busy.

The Tea Time Brew Pub, Krakow, was historically mentioned on here as being owned by a Claret.
No idea if that is still the case but the beer will be good.

Ribs of Prague was unbelievable when we went not long ago, going again in 2 weeks and will deffo be paying it another visit

Great beers at Strahov Monastery Brewery in Prague, food looked good, too. No 22 or 23 tram from Malostranská to get there, then a nice walk back down (especially when dark, with city lit up) to Kampa area.

In Krakow I would highly recommend The Black Duck in the old town and for lunch Hamsa in the Jewish Quarter (it’s next to a Moo Moo Steak and Wine Restaurant). Also, the Old Town Restaurant and Wine Bar.

Slightly off the subject, I would also highly recommend the free walking tour, our guide was exceptional, at the end we just gave her a tip. I’ve found the link to the website here https://freewalkingtour.com. Also, if you like Banksy there is a Banksy museum which again is excellent, no originals obviously, but plenty of exhibits set out well.

For Prague, if you enjoy steak then it can only be one place - I go every time I'm in town.

They have their own farm and only serve that meat at their restaurant.

If you want a sports bar in Krakow try the one on Mikolsjka in the heart of the Old Town called English Football Club, lots of screens, decent beer and they let you have takeaway pizzas delivered

Nearby is the Wodka Bar where you can try all different flavours of vodka and reasonably cheap.

Been a while since we went to Prague so can't really remember the names of the bars we went in but one bit of advice I would give is to avoid the rip off 'old Prague ham' food vendors in the main square!

Will add more when im back after the weekend, but if you want somewhere to watch sport, James Joyce is good in Prague, its one of the less tourist trap Irish Pubs. Letna beer garden is great with good views for outdoor pints, although it can be a bit lairy if Sparta are at home a few hours before ko so keep an eye on that.

Hard Rock Cafe in Prague is worth a look for drinks, as it was the former HQ of the Prague SS. Once you see the railings on the balcony in this context you will see the history of it aside from the guitars on the walls

For the Burgers go for Sad Man's Tongue in Old Town (Cash Only) but it does great American style Burgers

My advice in Prague would be to check your bills/receipts thoroughly and to make sure you don't leave your coat behind your chair in bars and restaurants.

It's a great place and it's cheap but there are a lot of thieves who pray on tourists and a lot of places will bung stuff on your bill because you don't know what it is.

I was in Krakow a couple of weeks ago and would definitely recommend Morskie Oko quiet posh (reservation needed or queue) and W Starej Kuchni for real homecooked food.
To be honest everywhere we ate was good.

Prague: Kozlovna u Paukerta, Národni 981/17, Stare Mésto. 200 yards east of Legion Bridge. Czech grub and Kozel beers. Nice bogs.

Prague - bloody loads!

U Zlateho tygra (the golden tiger) - amazing traditional style beer hall type bar, they won’t let you in as a large group and often turn tourists away but if you can get in, its great. They only serve Pilsner Urquelle and will keep bringing you pints until you say stop! Foods great too - doesn’t open till around 3pm though, just around the corner at the bottom of the old town.

Over the river there’s “U hrocha” (the hippo) and “U cerneho vola” (the black bull) - both traditional local places with cheap good beer and Czech food.

In the old town Fat Cat & U Kunstatu have loads of craft beers on draught. U Supa is at the top of the old town near the church and brew their own beers with decent food in a more modern setting than the local dives mentioned above.

Only place you’ll get a bad pint is the Irish bars (and 3 times the price!) but they can be fun late at night. The Dubliner has sports on all day and live music every night if that’s your thing, gets very busy however.
