One of only two surviving members of the team that won the league for us. Bob had a leg amputated a few years ago but the last I heard he was doing ok, I used to have a contact on the newspaper up there who kept me informed but I think he's moved on. The other survivor is Alex Elder who is now 84. Alex sadly is now blind.Longford Claret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 8:19 amIt's a shame Bobby Seith was never capped for Scotland. If he had been Burnley would have the oldest surviving England and Scotland internationals. Bobby still knocking around at 93.

And this is a pic of Bob as recently as last November.Longford Claret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 8:19 amIt's a shame Bobby Seith was never capped for Scotland. If he had been Burnley would have the oldest surviving England and Scotland internationals. Bobby still knocking around at 93.

Not me. I just think he was vastly overrated at his peak.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 8:47 amI think there's a bit of history washing here.
Heaton was remarkable for us. For at least one season he showed himself to be one of the top keepers in the prem and I really mean one of the top keepers.
But Joe Hart had a career that for many seasons he was not only one of the top keepers in the prem but also the world.
I think some people forget just what a keeper Joe Hart was in his prime. Maybe that's because he was underwhelming when he came in for us.
Heaton on the other hand I think was vastly underrated and had 2 big injuries at vital times, with Burnley and Villa that held him back

Hart was a far better keeper for us than he's given credit for. But in much the same way as the Trafford/Muric situation in 23/24, he was keeping the fan-favourite out of the side.

Returning to the oldest player theme and the mention of Bobby Seith, I've just been given a contact by Dundee FC so am trying to find out how he's doing.
