Experienced Goalkeeper, a safe pair of hands so to speak. Somebody who scores goals. A ruddy great big strong bugger who is relentless in midfield please...

Jens cajuste who we’ve been linked with has started following Burnley on instagram, was linked a while back but nothing happened

Agreed, i wouldn't be upset with Sargent at all. Seem to recall plenty on here turning their noses up at Jarod Bowen and Gyokeres as well.billyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 8:15 pmJosh Sargent is a very good player, and would immediately be first pick as our number 9 if we sign him.
I think some on here will be very surprised at what sort of impact he will have if we can get him in.
I would be interested to know who else would be available/attainable as a striker as I can't think of anyone else in this price range who we could realistically sign?

Looks a player too when you watch his reel, line breaker in midfield with powerful runs. Plus as we all previously discussed, really rates by ITFC fans.dcunningham27 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 8:36 pmJens cajuste who we’ve been linked with has started following Burnley on instagram, was linked a while back but nothing happened

Re: Summer transfer window
Same here, just watched his Ipswich highlights and looks just what we need in midfield. Possible other positive is that he was at FC Midtylland when our Danish coach was a coach there and being a Swedish international possible a team mate of Ekdal's.GrahamBranchsPerm wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 8:54 pmLooks a player too when you watch his reel, line breaker in midfield with powerful runs. If we don't go for Sargent who are we going to get? At least he has some experience of the Premier League, not a lot but at least some. If we buy from abroad we have no idea what they are going to be like and how long it will take them to settle.

Re: Summer transfer window
I honestly think Sargent would be a great signing. Similar to when we brought Chris Wood in all them years ago. I thought he looked by far one of the most dangerous strikers against us last season.
Re: Summer transfer window
Watched a fair bit of video on Sargent since we were linked & have done some data digging, and I’ve definitely warmed to the signing. Thought he was a touch smaller & weaker than he is, but he’s quite a decent size and wins a high % of duels. He was decent off the bench for Norwich v us. Goal catalogue contains quite a variety of finishes, I recall his movement giving CJ and Esteve trouble. Last time he played in the Prem was under Dean Smith who mainly played him out wide, so not entirely fair to judge, plus he was 20. I think a £16m base fee rising to £18-19m would be a fair deal, for both us and Norwich.
Also hope there is something in this Cajuste thing, seems a bit coincidental that he’s following us on Instagram all of a sudden.

Re: Summer transfer window
Cajuste is another with Premier League experience. We are going about it a better way this time by trying to find players who know what it is like. We won't have many who haven't played in the Premier by the time we get to the start of the season. That is a big plus as they won't be in shock mode for the first ten weeks!
Re: Summer transfer window
Cajuste to me looks like a more technical Josh Laurent. Strong, big, likes a tackle and can drive with the ball. To me looks like a player who would slot into midfield alongside Cullen and complement him well. If this happens, a keeper and striker and we are there!

Agreed. Sargent will be a star for us, he sat next to Barnes on the Norwich team bus so I'm assuming Ashley has "told" him to sign for usRVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 9:51 pmWatched a fair bit of video on Sargent since we were linked & have done some data digging, and I’ve definitely warmed to the signing. In relation to Cajuste he has plenty of connections at BFC.
An international team mate of Hjalmar Ekdal and also a team mate of Axel Tuanzebe last season at Ipswich and was also a player at FC Midtjylland whilst Henrik Jensen was there.
Hopefully they've all put in a good word.

Having premier league experience isn’t all that. Being poor in a dreadful side for a season doesn’t really count for much does it?

My guess is that plenty of now relegated players would jump at the chance to find any PL club. I'd bet most of our relegated squad had their agents working on anything above Championship for a move.

Koleosho to Espanyol says this.
Seem to think it could be a permanent deal for a reduced price with us being their feeder club and wotnot..

Re: Summer transfer window
The fact that article thinks we’d sell him to anyone for €12m makes me think it’s rubbish. We turned down much bigger bids last summer, we’re not going to sell him for less when back in the Premier League and after a good U21 Euros.summitclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 11:26 pmSays valued at 12m euros, but reduced due to joint ownership.

It might just be me, but I've got a very uneasy feeling about the this joint ownership thing. One based in a trendy, historic city and the other in our little Burnley.

Re: Summer transfer window
Unless they start divvying up the La Liga money more equitably, transfer fees will always be bigger in England, so I wouldn’t worry too much. It makes little sense selling Koleosho on the cheap to La Liga when a good season in the Premier League and he’d be worth 2-3 times more.summitclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 11:31 pmIt might just be me, but I've got a very uneasy feeling about the this joint ownership thing. They might loan him, I suppose.
I think most people dislike MCO’s and have concerns about the long term ramifications, but selling our players cheaply is not one of mine. I rather think they might try the opposite trick.
Re: Summer transfer window
Seems the benefactors of any Koleosho move, at a cheap price, would be Espanyol and their owners
Remind me who their owners are ?

Letting him go to Espanyol for cheap would fly in the face of the ‘buy cheap, sell big’ mantra.

Is he really worth much more currently?
He had pace to burn which made him exciting, he's lost some of that pace now and has struggled badly since.

I wouldn't mind him if we were bringing in 2 strikers, but if he were the only striker being brought in, then that would smack of desperation!

Koleosho to Espanyol doesn’t make sense.
Interesting though that Dolan is signing for them.

Nobody is lining up to buy Koleosho!... He's worth a fraction of the price he was last summer, and it's obvious he doesn't want to be here, and there are at least 2 players in front of him on each wing... Players are only worth what clubs are willing to pay!
Re: Summer transfer window
Not sure which is most worrying. No rumours about a striker or a rumour about signing Bamford?

He only signed a new contract in September, but it's a good idea to solidify the length of his deal and ensure maximum return if and when. He's earned it as well.
