Maybe the deal includes any fee we’re due to pay for walker?

Re: Summer transfer window
City will be spinning the alleged £27m. It could be the money actually being exchanged eventually. For example, we still had to pay say another £7m to City for the initial purchase that we don't now.
If City are obliged to pay £40m less 20% of our profit ( 0.2 x of say £25m) = £35m. Then deduct the £7m we owe and it could explain the leaked £27m. However, would Newcastle have offered £35m that City have had to match?

Until the day football clubs are required to to disclose transfer fees, I’ll take every report about them with a pinch of salt.

I agree with those suggesting we need to take Trafford's fee with a punch of salt and view it alongside our other business with City. You hope both sides are getting deals that work for them.

Also, anyone thinking a player good enough to play for City last season, isn't good enough for us this season, has higher hopes for the season than me!! (I'm dreaming of 17th!)

Couldn’t give a shite where Trafford goes from here. All I’m bothered about is that we’ve now lost the third of our best four players from last season, all down the spine of the team. Thank God for Esteve.
When set against other teams, that’s not a great way to go into a PL season. I’d like to hear about our plans to address that pretty soon now we’ve got a conclusion to the saga.

Wonder if this is as closed as is being made out or it’s all part of the negotiations, then.

Re: Summer transfer window
It sounds like they perhaps already accepted the offer from NUFC, so they were just waiting to know if MC took up the option. Perhaps the news is all coming from the City end, but hasn't reached BFC yet.

Brownhill has left(not premier league quality anyway), looks like Cajuste is coming in which would be an improvement.

A bit disappointed with the fee in the end, but all things considered it’s a decent profit on him.

Re: Summer transfer window
I wouldn't be bothering too much with sell on fees with Trafford.
If he is a success, they aren't going to be selling him until his sell-on value has dropped, just like Ederson.
If he is less than a success, he won't be going for a profit.
Better to concentrate on England caps and trophies and maybe number of club appearances, given his young age.

Re: Summer transfer window
Imagine if someone had told you two years ago that you were getting Englands u21 goalkeeper on loan for two years for free (bar wages) and that Man City were going to pay you £13m for the developing him. That would have sounded like a great deal at the time.

I’ll give you a max of 2 games into the season before you’re on here crying that we’re not good enough.
Re: Summer transfer window
We definitely need to get some big signings through the door now, mainly addressing centre midfield (and obv a keeper). Hopefully Cajuste is closer than some media have reported today. Any new player will only have 2 pre season games with the team, that’s if they sign by mid-late next week…

Re: Summer transfer window
Good way of looking at it. Makes me feel better about it anyway.
Hopefully it’s worked for all parties in a way that encourages City to allow other young players to come this way. Not that I want us to become part of City’s Academy, but I can’t see how we reestablish ourselves in the short-term without some such arrangement.

Re: Summer transfer window
That spine of Trafford, Esteve, Egan Riley, Cullen and Brownhill was so key to our solid performances last season. It's disappointing to see it broken up, but there's not much the club could do to prevent it this summer.
I was hoping to only lose 1 maybe 2 of them and then use that base build upon and then add in some quality around them. We'll need a few signings to hit the ground running now.

Re: Summer transfer window
Agreed, don’t think we get 2 though personally, one striker and one Midfielder both on loan and a keeper will be us done. Got a funny feeling there’s not much money to go at.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jul 25, 2025 12:24 pmI think we needed a midfielder before Brownhill left - need two in my opinion, for what it's worth.

Brownhill is back in Manchester. Just seen him at his flat. Had a proper bad time getting over his split. Was tight lipped on Burnley.

All opinions. Mine's that Parker has held onto the 2 he really wanted ... Keeper was always going and I don't think we'll go into this next season with a rookie and a clown to choose from as in 2023.
