No sign of Obafemi or Churlinov, they must have gone on holiday with Brownhill.

How are the new lads getting on
Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
Hopefully that's because they're not in Scott's plans and are on their way out.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 3:22 pmNo sign of Obafemi or Churlinov, they must have gone on holiday with Brownhill.

Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
Walker, Hartman and brunn Larsen having good games
Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
Anthony in on goal but keeper saves from point blank.
Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
How's Koleosho doing at wing back, I've been beating that drum for a while. Convinced it could be the ideal role for him eventually

Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
Are we playing 5 at the back (wing backs?)
Seen a few on Twitter saying Hartman looks a player
Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
Hartman does look decent
Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
Good ball from Walkercto Hartman, overcthectop of the defence.

Tuanzebe off for Sambo after 25 minutes. Looked pre planned.

Set up like a 4-4-2 but Hartman seems to have license to get forward and at times has been the most advanced player.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 3:33 pmAre we playing 5 at the back (wing backs?)

Koleosho playing really wide right.
For me if we are playing a 2 man midfield we need stronger options than what we currently have

Cleary three at the back in possession of the ball, might go to a back 4 when off the ball but it's Koleosho and Hartman hugging the touchline as wingbacks, imo.

I don’t think Walker is playing central, he’s been very much in a traditional right back position even with how wide koleosho and Hartman have beenCoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 3:46 pmNot for me.

He's playing RCB, it's undoubtedly a back three in posession of the ball, Ekdal CB, Esteve LCB123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 3:48 pmI don’t think Walker is playing central, he’s been very much in a traditional right back position even with how wide koleosho and Hartman have been

Looks a 3 in possession

Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
Definitely a back 4 for me, but in attacking possession Walker sits deeper as a 3.
Koleosho is proving to me that he won’t be starting games this season. That last action of the first half was enough.

Seems our strikers are effective

Alright mate calm down, from what I’ve been watching I’ve seen a clear back 4 and we have been 4-4-2CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 3:50 pmHe's playing RCB, it's undoubtedly a back three in posession of the ball, Ekdal CB, Esteve LCB

Koleosho full of effort and drive but it’s just that technical elements in the final third he doesn’t have yet

Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
Only issue I have with this setup is that it doesn't seem to benefit Anthony's skillset too much - he was fabulous at taking down those long balls and driving at the fullback last season... requires a different skillset playing narrower.

Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
Is the fact that no one seems to know what formation we're playing, a clever ploy to get people to fork out a fiver to watch the game on clarets player or whatever it's called?
Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
That's a bit harsh, he is clearly not fully match fit atm and that is precisely what these games are for.

Here's another shot.
If it was a back four (in posession), Ekdal would be further to the right hand side of the pitch

Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
As someone has mentioned above, the efforts there, but technical ability isn’t. His decision making, as shown over the last 2 seasons, doesn’t seem to be getting any better

Dodgson will be leaving soon, not heard anything about Benson. The two I jokingly mentioned are definitely not in the plans.

You can’t show still images and prove it’s a back 3, what’s to say Hartman hasn’t made one of his many forward runs from left back.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 3:54 pmI'm quite calm.

In my opinion it’s a back 4 and we are playing a more traditional 4-4-2, you undoubtedly don’t have to agree with me it’s fine

Well given he’s only had one full season of senior football and a serious injury and still only 20, id still give him a hell of a lot more time

In Spain watching the Huddersfield game on my fire stick. Not a lot to cheer about, Koleosho still giving the ball away, not much happening up front, Anthony had a good chance but sidefooted as usual instead of putting his foot through it. Let's hope for a bit more excitement in the second half.

So am I correct in thinking, two HTs:0-0 Hudds & 1-0 Shrews?

You've a lot more patience than me. I thought he was awful when he played last season, and that culminated in him losing his place.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 4:03 pmWell given he’s only had one full season of senior football and a serious injury and still only 20, id still give him a hell of a lot more time

Re: Today's Friendlies (and I guess match thread)
Formations are often fluid, especially in the modern game, but usually the listed formation is the one used in possession of the ball.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 4:02 pmYou can’t show still images and prove it’s a back 3, what’s to say Hartman hasn’t made one of his many forward runs from left back.

There are plenty of teams that build up in various ways but sink into a back 4 out of possession.

Tricky Trevor, on my system I have a football icon. I clicked on that then went to "live football and friendlies" where I found the game amongst many others.
