Summer transfer window
Re: Summer transfer window
Trouble is our owner is too busy making new friends in Spain!
Re. Brownhill - he’s long gone and only a matter of time before he confirms having signed for a West Ham or Brentford…..
We are clearly desperately short of premier league quality as things stand and this next week or two will be vital if we are to survive. No hiding from the fact we are in need of a goal scorer, a centre mid or two, and a new keeper as a bare minimum!!

That would be 26 man squad, one of the over 21 year olds would need to leave or not be registered. Beyer missing from that tobillyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 9:45 pmNot sure if I'm missing anyone but as far as I can tell with the suggested incomings, I'm guessing the squad would be as follows?

I didn’t couldn’t Weiss, it’s 26 without him. For what it’s worth I don’t think there’s winning to the Diego Carlos links so that puts us at 25. That’s if sambo, Sonne and Delcroix who all featured today are to leavebillyhamilton82 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 9:58 pmBeyer isn't ready for the start of the season IMO

L’Equipe reporting Man City and Man Utd still in the race to sign Donnarumma.
Got the funny feeling James may not play much for a year or two, whether it is Ederson or an elite replacement ahead of him.

Agreed. I think Ekdal still has a future at BFC. He made some lovely interceptions - yes, it was only Huddersfield, but we need a centre-back (alongside Kyle Walker) who can distribute the ball out wide. We sadly lost that skillset with CJ leaving.spamalittle wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 10:01 pmI thought Ekdal looked really good today. Am I the only one, I'm not sure Diego Carlos is what we need at all.

Re: Summer transfer window
Ekdal played shorter balls into midfield, which were successful. Walker spread it wide with success and Esteve tried to to spread it wide but over hit it at times, this is not a criticism it is not currently a great strength of his. All three are classy players, but we need a classy midfielder to knit it together, perhaps the Cajuste fella can.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 26, 2025 11:21 pmAgreed. He did aye, but released Hartman a couple of times and threaded a clever pass into Foster & JBL one or two times. Johnstone would be an excellent replacement. An England international and an experienced prem player who won’t break the bank.

Re: Summer transfer window
Haven’t seen him play much so just going off the opinions on here. Seems like he’s well thought of so could be money well spent.
Re: Summer transfer window
I've been told that Cajuste is far more advanced than what is currently being reported, IE practically done.

If we can get Cajuste and Johnstone tied up it leaves us 5 weeks to find/bring in 'our new striker'.

To have our positions filled, bar one, at this stage, will make it our best window in terms of season planning that I can remember.
We might even have all our business done before our opening game.
Well done Recruitment.

Re: Summer transfer window
Johnstone and Cajuste would both be solid additions.
The sort of business which makes sense. I doubt either will make money for us but could be part of a solid core group fighting relegation.
A departure from the VK promotion shopping list. Good to see. (If it happens, obviously.)

Re: Summer transfer window
I agree.
I think there are two quite significant things to consider here:
1) The Man City deal for Trafford seems ‘light’ - surely there’s a sweeter coming our way.
2) We haven’t yet made any domestic loans. We need to make use of these and ensure we bring in two strong players.

The Senegalese striker looks a real handful. I can't see us beating Man United and Brentford to him though.

Johnstone would be a fantastic signing. Trafford for all of his potential hasn’t done it in the Premier League… yet.
Whilst Johnstone isn’t going to be a world beater, he’s as solid as they come. Experienced, in and around the England setup and has played in the Champ too so doubt he’ll be pushing for a move if we end up going down.
