What makes you think there’s no money? Spent 12m on a 21 year old winger from Lazio. Had a 15m deal agreed with that midfielder from France but he didn’t fancy the move

Re: Summer transfer window
Just a few things that to me suggest that might be the case, the most recent link Iv seen is Castuje which was loan with an obligation, last summer we left business very late, they were all loans with obligations which suggest we don’t want to or can’t pay up front, I think it’ll be similar this summer, letting people assess their squads then see who we can get on loans with either an option or obligation. I could be wrong and hope I am but to me the money isn’t there after the business we have already done to sign more players on permanent for decent size fees which for quality you need to pay.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 8:21 pmWhat makes you think there’s no money? I’d say you were 99.9% wrong. Plenty of time yet for a few signings and loans.

Reports in Italy suggested tchaouna was going to be a loan with an obligation to buy but ended up being 12m fee.Paddy1882 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 8:54 pmJust a few things that to me suggest that might be the case, the most recent link Iv seen is Castuje which was loan with an obligation, last summer we left business very late, they were all loans with obligations which suggest we don’t want to or can’t pay up front, I think it’ll be similar this summer, letting people assess their squads then see who we can get on loans with either an option or obligation. The isn’t a single credible report about Cajuste yet. Nobody has a clue what’s going on with that

They get more money. A player is 10m, sell now they get 10m. Loan for a year first, they get the loan fee, plus the 10m possibly getting an extra million or two.

Re: Summer transfer window
Time will tell but Parker has already said we have a bloated squad, we’ve got 2 domestic loan spots and foreign as well to fill which over the past few years we’ve utilised so I expect that’ll be the case again, apart from that I just can’t see us going paying decent money for anyone. Maybe a deal similar to JBL low risk money type.Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 8:54 pmI’d say you were 99.9% wrong. Plenty of time yet for a few signings and loans.

Honestly it looks like Adopo had the more impressive season last year. So perhaps both to come in and fight it out for the role next to Cullen?123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 9:25 pmHe was linked a couple of weeks ago to I remember. We need two centre mids imo. But I think because it was his breakout season it comes across as a more impressive season. (But tbh it’s each to there own, I would be happy with either or both).

It will end up coming out that it wasn’t Cajuste flying to Blackpool last Friday.

Re: Summer transfer window
The Cajuste rumour has certainly be one of the strangest of the summer. Off to Besiktas at first, then not, then going back to Ipswich, then not, then caught at an airport bidding farewell to a Napoli fan before apparently being tracked to the pleasure beach.
All good fun.

And if there aren't any funds for a replacement it makes you wonder if we are now selling just to balance the books.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 6:04 pmWell you’d absolutely expect there to be funds for a replacement, otherwise no point in selling him!

Re: Summer transfer window
I feel fairly confident in saying that this summer isn't about balancing the books, despite the sale of Trafford. I would imagine though that when Trafford officially leaves (maybe tomorrow if the medical was today as reported) it will provide certainty about exactly how much money there is to commit to different areas of the pitch, hopefully allowing us to step up pursuits of our top targets.

There’s been a lot of ‘ITK’ sort of things on here about us and clubs from Manchester. From apparently wanting Oscar Bobb on loan to apparently getting 3 players in return for the Trafford deal.
I’m not saying you are talking rubbish but is there any chance your source could be talking rubbish.

Re: Summer transfer window
This is Parker’s quote about replacing Trafford:
Parker already has Vaclav Hladky and Etienne Green on his books, while 21-year-old Max Weiss has arrived from Germany.
“I think it's something we'll be looking at, yes,” Parker added, when quizzed about whether Burnley would look to replace Trafford.
“Again, obviously, we’ll work that out. We’ll speak to the owners and we'll get to a decision on what we see best with that.”
I don’t know how people are jumping to conclusions that we don’t have any money to spend

I'd not seen the full thing before, only the paraphrasing at the bottom of page 132 where a poster said that Parker would speak to the board and see if there are any funds available for a replacement.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 11:08 pmThis is Parker’s quote about replacing Trafford:

I don't know how the poster came to that conclusion looking at what he actually said now.
Re: Summer transfer window
A thought, could BFC be holding back a signing announcements so they can release it after a Trafford to City announcement, to soften the blow?

An opinion you are entitled too but what is it based on? Sunderland have thrown a lot of money at it, but how many apart from xhaka have actually played in the prem so you can say if they will or won’t be good enough?ksrclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 3:12 pmSunderland and Leeds look more Premier League ready than we do, in my opinion, for the moment. They’ve clearly got way ahead of us in terms of midfield strength and it’s easier to see where their goals are coming from. Our huge advantage of that record-breaking defence has been set back by the loss of our goalkeeper and our centre half, but I’d still back Parker’s coaching to give us the edge there along with our new signings.
I’m now perfectly prepared for the usual patronising remarks and name-calling in response to the above, but I don’t feel I’ve said anything unreasonable there. And of course, I hope we do some good business very soon.

Re: Summer transfer window
Sunderland remind me of Middlesbrough when they came up and went for big names. That turned out well.
Re: Summer transfer window
You're right that only Xhaka, and Adringa out wide, have experience of the English premier league. They have signed players though who've been amongst the standout players in the French and Belgian leagues and look to have the physical attributes to adapt to England, but there are no guarantees. It's a similar story with Leeds who've signed Longstaff with the prem experience and then Stach from Germany. The comparison right now with us is with Cullen, Laurent, and Hannibal and I believe those two clubs are currently stronger in this area of the pitch.JarrowClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 11:42 pmAn opinion you are entitled too but what is it based on? Re: Summer transfer window
I am surprised that anyone puts so much store on last season's final table, to determine anything about this coming season, other than the three promoted clubs over the last three seasons, have found it difficult to stay up.
I'm looking at those 3 seasons in isolation and believe that the three weakest teams will be relegated, and at this stage we can't easily predict those 3 teams. I want to fly in the face of that evidence and say that the evidence will be only on what happens over the coming 38 games rather than the previous 46.
I still think that Pope will want to experience another Champions League campaign. I had forgotten he'd already had one campaign under his belt.

5 of their 6 signings played at Hearts, and they got pumped 3-0. Roker Report says Sunderland were unable to deal with the physicality of Hearts, which doesn’t bode well.
Think they’ll comfortably finish rock bottom.

If it’s the case that we are dealing with United, given the size of our squad, and our needs, the only player we could realistically be looking at is Toby Collyer. At an absolute push, Chido Obi, but they’ve only just signed him, so you’d presume that would be a loan, and there’s no guarantee he’d be any closer to first team minutes here, than there.

Re: Summer transfer window
For dealing with City, you’d have to hope it’s trying to resurrect Ortega. I can’t really see them sending any first teamers our way, so my guess would be we’d be looking at getting some youngsters for the future, having seen the development of Egan-Riley, Trafford and Harwood-Bellis after they moved out of there. I would have said Divin Mubama might have been a possibility, but he’s gone to Stoke on loan. Jahmai Simpson-Pusey has been linked with a move today. Whilst we’ve got tonnes of centre halves, someone like him would not need to be registered in the 25 man squad and would help towards home grown quota. Could be seen as one for developing.

I know we've signed some good players but we still need a goalie, striker and Brownhill replacement. I think these are crucial to our survival. Just hoping the Trafford deal can fund these.

Schira has doubled down on our interest in Adopo. That’s rare.
He was a loan with obligation at Cagliari. So the ” new” signing effectively means nothing if bids come in.
