I doubt it means our budget is £13 million, it probably means it goes into the pot for the three players we want. I also expect us to loan at least one player so we may not need all the funds for permanent signings. Three is a minimum really, we definitely need a keeper, a central midfielder and striker but like many on here would prefer two midfielders to come in, especially now Brownhill has departed.

If we believe that Weiss can be a long term solution to our goalkeeping issue, then signing a 36 year old Dubravka until Weiss is ready could be ideal. I don't expect him to cost that much and he looks to be surplus to requirements in the North East now Ramsdale has signed.
Stated this previously and was vilified, but I think there is another perspective on the matter.
For this window, I believe we have completed our transfer business. We have five centre forwards on the books, so it's possible that we can set up a system that takes advantage of some of their strengths. Along with a foreign loan that fits with the buy cheap sell for a profit model, I believe we will also give an experienced CM the option to buy. Carney and Barkley come to mind.
My concern would be moving players on as we still have a bloated squad which currently has been assembled for a loss of around 40m (fag packet maths).
I'm just expressing an opinion; I don't have any inside knowledge.

Luckily I think Parker is more sensible than that.

If we go in with our current squad we struggle to get past Derby`s 11 points. We need 2 centre mids and a striker, bare minimum. And a keeper obviously!

If that's our transfer business done then put me down as a bed wetter as I would be seriously concerned. Minimum we need IMO is a striker, combatative midfielder and experienced goalie. I'm hoping that the rumour that we are waiting till August is true.

Always a post around this time of year along the lines of ‘I think that’s our business done for the window’ despite there being another 4 and a bit weeks to go.

I may be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 but I can envisage a scenario where casjuste ‘signs’ and follows us on instagram, but the club get wind and tell him to unfollow as it’s not being announced until 1st August and don’t want to be seen as not complying with PSR.
That was partly my reasoning too. Although I didn't know about the PSR. My reasoning was just that he may have been told to unfollow us until he'd actually signed or until they'd announced his signing.

Your scenario makes sense.

Seems like we might still be looking for a young CB if this link is anything to go by. Rav van den Berg from Middlesbrough.

This is the crazy world we’re living in.

To be honest I think it makes what we sold Trafford for look low, but when you have Championship clubs spending £20m on players and Sunderland/Leeds spending £20m+, it’s hard to see how we can compete with our £10–15m buys.

We need Parker to pull off a miracle this year.

That Scrafton tweet is horrendously worded. We will be putting the 31m towards three new players, not the 13m profit.

I take that to mean we are going to be spending 15-25m on a striker.

Its time to bring Mikautadze home.

Digging deeper, EFL Analysis site states that Feyernoord offered Boro £10 mill for van den Berg, but Boro are holding out for more. However, they may accept less only if there's a 15-20% sell on clause added.

Reports that Hackney may not be too keen on a move to another Championship club and may decide to stay at Boro to see if there is any interest from PL clubs. Earlier in the window Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham were reportedly keen on the player. Ipswich reportedly offering £35k a week so a big uplift on his wages.

Point taken
To clarify, I don't think we will make any permanent signings, but we with have two loans with options to buy.
Again don't mind be wrong, but the current size of the squad, lack of outgoing players, 40m deficit could explain this scenario.

Hackney would be a very good signing for us if it could be done for £15m plus add ons. Quite a few similarities to Berge.

I've thought all summer that Middlesbrough have a crop of very decent players who could step up. van den Berg is a good young defender with lots of potential (but not a priority anymore), Hackney similar as a midfielder, Finn Azaz has an excellent goals and assists record as an attacking midfielder (potential Brownhill replacement), and I've always liked Tommy Conway up front and was pleased when we were linked with him last summer.

Tend to agree. Everyone wants him to make a full recovery but last time around showed he was miles away from
Premier League standard. Could do with a loan out. Just because he’s had a long injury doesn’t mean he’s going to come back a much better player. That’s just wishful thinking.

Ok to take your point at face value. I don't think you can seriously suggest that any of the 5 strikers are going to score goals in the PL. We struggled to score last season and SP eventually did come up with a system that overcame that issue but remember we had one of the most expensive squads in the Championship with some of the best midfielders in the Championship. It won't be the case in the PL.

We need a PL upgrade on Laurent who can play the double pivot with Cullen. We also need a PL quality striker. Both Flemming and Foster are good Championship strikers but I'd be worried if we tried to get through a PL season with those two...! For a start Foster can't lead a line and Flemming looks to be a bit short technically for the PL.

And we also need to keeper who can act as the 11th player, which all means we'd have to find real quality players of a particular type between now and the start of the season. A tall order but hopefully plans are afoot.

I think you could be right that we will fail to get the players we require as we did in Dyche's first season, VKs PL season and SPs Championship season but you seem to tacitly suggest this is desirable.

None of that is to say you are wrong but you have to believe there are more signings before the start of the season because nothing else makes sense.

This lad is Netherlands u21 keeper (though is 22 years old now) and got voted in the Eredivese TOTY.

Yeah, I just posted that on that 'Sunderland Board' thread.

(Sunderland) Close to signing a goalkeeper according to Ornstein. 22 yr old Robin Roefs from NEC Nijmegen for €10.5m + €3m add ons. Dutch U21 on a 5 year contract, apparently for 1st choice. Medical today.

Transfer Feed app showing that Man U are potentially looking at Ortega as GK option from City.

Churlinov is also apparently in constant contact with Jagiellonia Białystok and wants to move back there permanently.

Transfer Feed app showing that Man U are potentially looking at Ortega as GK option from City.

Churlinov is also apparently in constant contact with Jagiellonia Białystok and wants to move back there permanently.
