Any gossip….?

Think I’ve seen Westley and Mellon linked with moves by Nixon this morning.
Apparently we wanted Ramsdale but he didn’t want a newly promoted club.

Nothing we wouldn’t expect but sounds like we are still busy in the window, especially to replace the ones we have lost and strengthening in other areas.
If we do sign Armando Broja, as CT eluded to earlier, we have to give him his chance around a different dressing room, team and coaching, and judge him on his time with us.

Would anyone take a risk on Dele Alli?

To be fair if I was ramsdale I'd be looking higher up the table than us. We've done exceptionally well with buying keepers but never because we've taken someone already somewhat established. It's a vital position though as we know so we need to get it right.

Just a reminder that this thread isn't the other transfer one. We do need somewhere else for general transfer chat but this thread has been a bit of a quiet haven for checking on links without the general transfer chitterchatter. Hoping it stays that way but I know the other one has disappeared.

It was a quiet haven for a good reason there's only so many links about & the vast majority of them had no credibility. The 2 needed merging into 1 entity the linkage should serve facilitating discussion in it's natural course.

Armchairdetective is right and the whole point I named the thread in such a fashion. It is quiet but concise and has been in keeping with the thread title. Absolutely opposite to the other thread and as AD said a haven for information and go to for a quick check. Please don’t spoil it and leave the mods with no option to close what has so far been a good thread.

I think that's promising for us TBH. No disrespect to Wilson but the screenshot showing his injury record is frightening. If West Ham are relying on him and Fullkrug they will hopefully struggle again (stawclutching maybe but what the hell).

Been a couple of links to him now and earlier in the window. Could see him being one we've been sniffing around at.

This is loosely linked to our pursuit of Cajuste/Mount.

As Ipswich lost out on Hackney I'm assuming they have now thrown some bigger wages at Cajuste?

United now in for Hackney, could that free up Mason Mount as he has played in all midfield positions?

Danny Ings is let go, Wilson brought in. Not sure which of the two is more injury prone-suspect Wilson

Broja may well have the last laugh. Based on reports from my Evertonian colleagues, Broja has a bit of an attitude (I'm thinking Weghorst), quickly developed a reputation as a 'sicknote' (surely we're already carrying enough of those) and struggled to find the net. (again, we've got quite a few of those).
Surely it's time to get rid of all those who struggled to get into the team in the Championship (and there's a lot of them), and use those savings on a couple of quality players who aren't going to be constantly limping around, and can genuinely add something to a first team at PL level.
The potential signing of Broja suggests 'oh dear, here we go once again'.

Could have said the same when Wellbeck was available from Arsenal, but what a striker he has been at Brighton. Sometimes players need a run of games, and strong physical strikers are as rare as hen's teeth. Lots of posters recognise its a gamble, but its worth it and the add ons wont get paid without the appearance stats being met. As for moving on some of those unlikely to get in the squad, and finding loans for those coming back from injury (Beyer, Ramsey, Tresor maybe), no easy task when it includes the likes of Obefemi, Delcroix, Churlinov,Hladky, Messengo, Sonne, Sambo and several more. Think the club is doing everything possible at present to meet these objectives and goals

There was a post yesterday from someone who also knew Everton fans who said Broja was brilliant in the dressing room. Time will tell, but let's get behind him and do what supporters should do....support your team

With a barnsey combo that should surely translate to a super vibed out dressing room whatever else is happening or not happening should be irrelevant.

At least Broja might be capable of providing us with a focal point in the attacking third.

He's 35 and recovering from a nasty accident. Big big gamble IMO. Cant see us wanting him to be honest. WHU baulked at offering him a new contract but have taken Callum Wilson which suggests Antonio is way off the mark at present.

Would I even listen to an Everton fan? Probably not…. Attitude? What does that even mean? And why would you think Weghorst?
Got injured so he’s a ‘sick note’. That sounds very Everton, and very reasonable because that’s how they are isn’t it? Seems like you are already resigned to him being a ****, lazy bad apple.

I’d be inclined to disregard absolutely everything, and form an opinion on him after spending some time watching him weekly.

Dele Alli, from my observations and from reading between the lines, and his troublesome childhood, is a problem, not easy to solve.

More than just a gamble. He needs 1 to 1 support off the field, he needs to trust those around him, and those around him need to trust him.
More than likely to unsettle a dressing room. Then there's the problem of getting him to better manage his ego.

For me, too big a job. Would love him to prove me wrong. Not worth the risk.

Not that I've seen. But the thread now seems to include discussing players who are not linked.

All please can we stick to the topic Linked players only please. I get people want an open discussion of if’s buts and maybe’s but this thread isn’t the place for that, and it has been observed up until today. Please keep this thread clean and on topic.

The only issue is it's going to cost you £20 million to watch a player who is now almost 24 that has 8 goals in almost 80 games.

If you listen to Evertonians, he had 4 shots in 334 minutes and one of those he kicked the ground an injured himself.

Not sure what happened to AI and data but I'd like to see how it comes up with £20 million,

Not sure I entirely believe all this Broja stuff: particularly the fee.

I think that’s the best point to be made CT - past records really so count for very little for the vast majority of players.

How many times have we seen people light up a season, get a big move and then never hit those heights again? Likewise a player who has bounced around clubs, never done much and then a move happens and suddenly they hit their stride.

Yes he’s had injury issues but let’s see what tune Parker can get out of him.
I don't think that's necessarily true. Players with consistent pedigrees are largely good players. It does happen that players do perform better than you expect or worse but that's largely because they have found a situation at a particular club that suits their strengths it's not because previous data is meaningless or players suddenly find and lose their mojo.

Most of the current crop of players have good pedigrees. Either they have come from big clubs with outstanding academies like Hannibal or Trafford or have decent records at a high level like Anthony or Cullen. Flemming has a good record of scoring in the Championship and so it proved: PL not so sure. Esteve played for a Ligue 1 side and so on and so forth.

The player with a record most like Broja's is Lyle Foster who had one good season amongst a number of average ones. And to be fair he's a decent player but his record with us has been consistent with what went before.

Making your mind up after he signs is ok if he cost £5 million but the cited figure is £20 million. I'm not sure how we can spend £20 million on a player who managed 334 minutes in his previous season with no goals, no assists and on one of his four shots kicked the ground and injured himself.

I mean he might be a great player but based upon what?

And to put it into context Chelsea have just signed 22 year old Liam Delap for £30 million who scored 1 in 3 for a relegated side last season.

Anyone willing to sign for Neom deserve to have their career rot away.
