I'm not so sure. I wouldn't go entirely off the friendlies. FWIW I'd also like it to be Ekdal.ollieclarets8 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 2:13 pm![]()

I was thinking the exact same. Ekdal is almost certainly ahead of Worrall as things stand.

Dubrawka can follow Wayne Hennessy as our keeper who prefers the right wing.

If we signed Broja, Dubravka and Ugochukwu I wouldn't be disappointed if we called that a day. We don't want another over inflated squad full of unhappy players not getting a game.

Kept out of the team by one of best performers, when he did play he won pretty much every aerial challenge, his passing was good and he’s a strong leader - Worrall must wonder what he’s done wrong

Can we afford a creative No 10 in a 4-3-3 especially when we will be defending most of the game time ?123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 1:02 pmBased on the 4-3-3 we played against Stoke, Hannibal isn’t a number 10, especially in the prem. we have the 6/8 sorted now but I think we are crying out for a creative 10
If you are counting on Cullen and Ugochukwu being the two DCM's that is still a bit lightweight with Laurent/Hannibal being way off what's required so an extra man needed for cover
As for a creative No 10 we have the unknown in Flemming, but couldn't help but admire the "worldie" from Mount last night who could also play just in front of the DCM's

Re: Summer transfer window
Ugochukwu seems like a very decent signing. I'd like us to sign another central midfielder as well as him though considering Hannibal and Ramsey may be played slightly forward akin to how Brownhill played last season. It leaves us with Cullen, Laurent and Ugochukwu as out and out central midfield options. You'd imagine we'll always play with at least two of those so I'm not so sure three is enough especially when one is Cullen who's game is about passing rather than physicality and one of them is Laurent who's never played in the Prem before.

Re: Summer transfer window
I started looking at Lesley Ugochukwu yesterday, as he's one of a few young players that Chelsea are looking to move on this year and looks to be just what we need in midfield to complement Cullen. I did though think that he may have been out of our price range.........but seemingly not. Was on loan at Southampton last season, plays DM and over 6ft tall.claretsmart wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 12:17 pmWe're signing Ugochukwu from Chelsea as per Ornstein. Again, AP and Co seem to understand where we went wrong last home round. They've gone for characters and strength whereas under VK we were bullied, quite easily.
We might still struggle but we're giving it a go.

The players that are still here will get shifted, priority is for us to get the players in we need.
If we did it the other way around we would be well and truly .....!

The players themselves will decide if they are prepared to move on - contracts rule
The club will have to show creativeness in agreeing to make up wages as it's unlikely the ones we want out will get anywhere near the wage deals they currently have with BFC

Whether it's through strategy or just coincidence we seem to have picked up a few France u21's in the last couple of years. Odobert and Esteve, and now Tchouana and hopefully Ugochuckwu. Let's hope the second two do as well as the first two. Seems to have worked well for us so far!

I agree. If not specifically a ‘no 10’ the certainly a ball playing midfielder who can make things happen.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 1:02 pmBased on the 4-3-3 we played against Stoke, Hannibal isn’t a number 10, especially in the prem. we have the 6/8 sorted now but I think we are crying out for a creative 10

It’s absolutely a fact that we need to move a lot out after we’ve done with our incomings. I doubt there’s a single Burnley fan, other than those that love starting arguments, that would disagree.
I don’t know why you’re being picked up for pointing it out.

He said when he left that he had plenty of football left to play though, so not sure he’s looking for a back up role. Just have a sneaky feeling that he’ll follow Westy to the MLS.

Re: Summer transfer window
You are 100% correct.
We’ve got 4 weeks and I know a lot of these deals can happen late on in the window but I think we should have got more players out by now.
Sending some of the young lads out on loan is good for their development and we seem to do that pretty well every year. Fully expect us to do that again as we have a good crop of young lads and lower league clubs will definitely be looking at them so for us it’s more of a matter of choosing the best club for the individual players. Unfortunately this has little impact on our wage bill and I think the issue we have with a lot of our players who will be nowhere the team is that they are on big wages and haven’t really shown much form in this country - at least with the young lads they are playing every week and there will be loads of scouting reports etc.
It’s a problem - largely created by VK - but we just need to get them out there even if it means still having to pay a chunk of their wages ourselves. It’s not doing them or us any good with 15 or so players who cannot even get near our bench.

Romano saying the fee for Ugochukwu is over £20m, which would make him our club record signing.

Those haven’t been allocated a squad number so you’d expect them to be off, but there are others that do have numbers you’d think would be wanted by somebody.
