They might be last seasons budget and last seasons accounts but they still still show as 25/26 summer spend won’t they, but either way if it’s 80-90m or 70-75m it’s still good businessRVclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 6:27 pmI take it you are including two players who were Champ signings and signing permanently regardless (Flemming and Humphreys)? As I didn’t include them (as really they were last seasons ‘budget’) and I’m around 70-75m.
Net spend with Massengo, Costelloe and Trafford therefore around £40m.

Re: Summer transfer window
True but like I never considered Tresor at £15m being a Championship signing. I mean he didn’t even proceed to play. Like you say good business I feel and possibly still a bit left if needed.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 6:33 pmThey might be last seasons budget and last seasons accounts but they still still show as 25/26 summer spend won’t they, but either way if it’s 80-90m or 70-75m it’s still good business
Re: Summer transfer window
Think that might be our incoming business done but I wouldn't object to another striker.
Re: Summer transfer window
Can’t see anymore permanent signings, but we still might see some loans.
Re: Summer transfer window
Still would like a strong midfielder
And moving a significant number of reserves out
And not just the youngsters

Can't really remember the last time we had virtually all our incoming business done prior to the opening game (before the last friendly even)
In an ideal world, I wouldn't mind seeing another cb coming in, and possibly another midfield option too. Maybe loans could be the answer later in the month.
Mainly about outgoings now though. I think you could get it to double figures, in terms of who we'd look to move on in an ideal world. You're probably looking at one of Hladky/Green, Delcroix, Sambo, Sonne, Tresor, Benson, Churlinov and Obafemi that would be definitely be allowed to go. Then a couple that could go on loan such as Banel, Agyei (if he's fit) maybe Beyer even. Big effort to find homes for such a big number of players

No matter what your thoughts are regarding the ownership, the manager has certainly been backed as was Kompany.

Re: Summer transfer window
I don’t think we’ve ever had a better window than this one. It just puts to bed all those excuses by posters in previous years that we are just Burnley and players would rather wait and see what else is out there first before signing for us late in the window.

Not a fan of this 159 page transfer topic !! Cant see the wood for the trees. But thouhts on Broja ..... wtf ! Its like throwing hoops onto bottles at the fairground. A futile exercise in wishful thinking. You'd have thought after Amdouni we'd have learnt something.
8 goals in 76 games. Massive injury history. Jeez. Is that the best we can do ?

Surprised we havn’t loaned out Ramsey yet. Could do with a run of games at Championship level and you’d think a few clubs would be interested at that level.

Another CM and it's been an absolute dream of a window. As things stand though it's been an excellent window anyway, just need to move a few on.

There will be a host of departures of the fringe players , but if Cullen or Lesley go down injured we suddenly look very light again in midfield.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 8:29 pmI'd say we have enough now unless we can ship half a dozen out.
Likewise up top, we all know how unreliable Foster has been, Broja has also had his problems , and one of our other options is Barnes .
There will be opportunities available for loans once the big teams decide their squads plus still a few free transfers worth looking at.

An excellent Summer. With all current business done 8 days before first match but 3 weeks before window closes.
We can all sleep easy but I wouldn’t be surprised at 1 or 2 more in if we can get some serious money in from out goings.

Use the 2 loans or free transfers for an extra CM and ST and we’ll give it a good go.

Still think we’re short of a right sided CB and a creative CM. That’s if we believe last season’s wide players will be up to PL standard which I’m not convinced of.
Hoping we come up with a couple of stellar loan signings but expect it’ll go right down to the wire.
Plenty to be offloaded too.

Us with Jordan James.
Swindon with Wesley
Us with Sam Johnstone
Us with Josh Sargent
Us with Andy Diouf
MK Dons with Dara Costelloe
Leyton Orient with Costelloe
Us with Harwood-Bellis
Ipswich with Josh Brownhill
Everton with Esteve
I know there’s no guarantee that efforts to sign a player will be successful, but when you’re asking someone to pay to read your stories, it’d be nice if you were right occasionally.

I would imagine any incomings now will be dependent on outgoings. We need some wages off the books and hopefully some transfer fees through the door. A really strong window, young talent but with decent experience at a high level.

If some people didn't lie so much & became plain honest the world's the oyster.
Re: Summer transfer window
Still think we need another striker with pace, a number 8 to replace Brownhill and maybe a centre back.
If we weren't to sign anyone else then we've had a good window, but these are the gaps we still need filling to make it perfect

Re: Summer transfer window
I think just another physical 6 / 8 is needed. We're an injury or suspension away from starting Laurent and having no sub CM on the bench. Other than that the depth and quality is fine across the squad.

By the same yardstick we're only an injury away from starting Hladky in goal.

If Laurent is starting in a midfield 3 then we have no substitute.
And midfielders are much more likely to get suspended than a goalkeeper.
Therein lies the difference.

Whilst I can see an argument for another central midfielder to arrive, that statement is only true if Hannibal and Ramsey are not part of our plans - and I don't think that's the case.

Re: Summer transfer window
Hannibal starts in a midfield 3 for me. Ramsey is a 10 (which we don't really use) or wide player, he's not going to be coming in for a suspended/injured Cullen/Ugochukwu/Laurent and play as an 8 or a 6.claretspice wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 8:41 amWhilst I can see an argument for another central midfielder to arrive, that statement is only true if Hannibal and Ramsey are not part of our plans - and I don't think that's the case.
Whilst I advocated for him and Bauress to be involved last season I think the PL is a bit too much of an ask without having been blooded in the Championship last time out. He isn't a 6 either, more the Brownhill 10 / 8 type.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 8:12 amI guess unless the club sees McDermott as a bench player? Featured and scored in pre season
The point I'm making is that there isn't a reserve there to trust. Laurent is the extent of the depth if either of Cullen, Ugochukwu or Hannibal miss a game.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 8:08 amAt some point we need to trust our reserves, we can't just keep adding to the squad.

Burnley also mentioned, which feels the crucial part of the article.
https://tbrfootball.com/nottingham-fore ... -friendly/
I feel Tella would be a useful direct running option either wide right or up front but he may not be starting unless there were injuries - I thus suspect he will go elsewhere. But he will know he is loved here and that could be vital, it is also plausible that Edwards, Broja or Flemming could struggle and if so we may need a plan B.
