Came on as sub today half way through H2, scored a pen, 2-0 with a few minutes remaining. Fans are funding his wages. He was in this League last season with Totton who got promoted
Re: Charlie Austin has signed for ....
Not surprised, he was a part time footballer/brick layer before he started to move up the ranks in Professional football.
Unlike these modern day money/ego driven footballers (at Championship/PL level) Austin came from a working mans background before he made it into the professional game.

I was at their last match of last season. OK ground for that level. Their strikers were good but I think they were both loanees, and they were made to look good by our (merthyr) decision to give all the squad players a game as we were on the beach.
But, they did fantastic burgers. Huge, bursting full of stuff, and for about the price of a Twix at TM. Totton just does not compare with their Subbuteo ground, thuggish team, a-hole fans (probably not all, but enough of the loud snorty types) and rubbish food. I'd expect him to enjoy his football more this year. And why not. He's earned it.

I like it when players do this, shows how much they just love playing. I saw Daniel Pudil (ex-Wednesday and Czech international) playing for Hallam in North East Counties league last season.

Just as well The Martyrs were on the beach, 'stoke needed a win to avoid relegation.timshorts wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 5:27 pmI was at their last match of last season. OK ground for that level.
