Post by steveb178 » Sat Aug 09, 2025 8:25 pm

People near me were eating pies and they looked seriously overcooked

I wouldn’t know
The service in the longside upper was so shocking I gave up when I heard the players coming back out, after waiting in line for the full duration of half time

Just the single kiosk seemed to be open and the guy serving our line decided to go off and change a barrel leaving everyone waiting

How can they make something as simple as buying a bottle of pop so difficult

It wasn’t much better in the Bob Lord either. Slow is an understatement

Had a pie in the BL today, it did look overcooked but it was one of the best I’ve had in a football ground since Barnsley away.
Just read that Haffners were the pie dealer today.

I’ve never understood why it’s the same person that takes your order, then pour it and hand it over to you. It holds the queue up

It didn’t seem “as” bad when they had separate beer kiosks but now they have beer pumps at each one it feels to have got worse

Can confirm about the problems on the Longside Upper. People just giving up queuing as second half starting. It’s almost as though the club want to spare us from paying their exorbitant prices :D

Longside Lower was a different level in every respect.

Because of the Lazio fans segregation, they re- programmed the ordering stations so only one bar could take the orders.

The queues at that bar were unbelievable.

But the best bit of it is that the other bar had staff working on it, but no-one could order anything there. If you took your order there, they wouldn't (couldn't) serve you.

At times, it really is beyond belief.

Anyone who buys the fare on offer in a football stadium deserves everything they get which is usually tasteless crap.

Haffners pies are great. Is that who they've gone with this season?

I'd probably just go to haffners before the game and get one of the pies from the shop at about half the price though.

I’d seriously scrap what ever we are paying the staff and move them to a commission rate based on sales. Pretty sure that would shift the speed and incompetence levels

Unless there was a last minute surge in ticket sales there’s no excuse really either.

First time in the North Upper for a long while and the service was a joke. Like someone said above - it’s like the club don’t want to take your money

I was in the BL - service was shocking at HT and I went at 43mins. Pies were nice but only lukewarm and weren't wrapped, just handed over in foil....... Queuing system went to pot and people started pushing their way to the front and shouting orders. Beer was OK but £6.45 and not convinced its a full pint.

When I used to go to football as a spectator (mid 60s) I couldn't get a pint and I don't think I could have bought a pie.

I don't see the need for either, but if you find that either are not good enough just don't bother.

I mean in general if the standard & service is shocking. To me it's no coincidence every season there's a pattern a frequency of disgruntled customers which highlights things are wrong & need to improve.

The beer and food prices are a joke but as a few people have said…just don’t pay it.

The most important question is have they increased Bene n Hot?!

This thread blows my mind.

Most of the comments are from the “more fool you” brigade who never buy from a concession stand because it’s a) not good value for money or b) your life skills are lacking for not having sorted drink/food out before.

However people like the OP and myself are willing to pay over the odds to eat/drink on the Turf. So surely we’re very entitled to complain when it is pish

Spoons sell more pints in an hour than we do in 10 seasons

Thought fans would be overjoyed at Haffners pies. I saw one that looked delicious and thought it was a Haffners. Don’t usually buy pies but would consider it now.

Hopefully not just a one-off for a low attendance game.

For some people, having a drink and a bite to eat before the game or at half time is part of the ritual - it’s part of what they enjoy about their day out at the football. Rubbishing their views of the poor, overpriced catering is just childish. Why shouldn’t we all expect better facilities and reasonable pricing at Turf Moor?

What's not reasonable about it? It's on par or cheaper than most stadiums in the country.

I don’t bother with the catering at Turf Moor because the service is absolutely dreadful. In terms of the pricing, it appears that people don’t feel like they’re offered value for money - the value being a good product with a good service. Obviously people can vote with their wallet, but why rubbish their criticisms of the catering offering? Should BFC not be in a position to offer decent food and drink at reasonable prices, served at a decent speed in order to improve the fans’ match-going experience? Dismissing people’s views on this in the way that you have is just childish.

First time using the pre pay machine today (season ticket in the cricketfield the last 10 years or so, so not used them)

North lower, waited 10 mins in the line for the machine, got to the front, ordered. The receipt print out got jammed, flagged for help. Help came, nice bloke. Took 5 mins for him to realise the machine was broken after trying to reprint my order. Took me to the bar and got me my order eventually . (15 mins for a drink and a bag of crisps for my lad)

Saw him at half time on another machine with the same issue and said to him “busy day for you mate” he laughed but could see the pain on his face.

Completely pointless those things. Makes it slower if anything. My 4 year old lads first game today and the 15 minute wait with him begging me to go to the seat was painful trying to keep him entertained. Won’t be using them again if I’m ever in those stands (which I intend not to be) really hope they don’t bring them into the cricketfield

It's not that at all, people are comparing prices to spoons or bringing a pie wrapped in a scratty bit of tin foil. Brain dead
You’ve basically said if people don’t like the quality and price of the food and drink on offer then don’t buy it. I don’t disagree. But can people not make observations about the catering offering at Turf Moor without their view being invalidated by stupid comments like

Anyone who can't go for a couple of hours without feeling they have no option but pay prices they don't agree with is either incredibly stupid, lacks mental capacity, or has some badly managed health issue

Some people like a half time pint, is it acceptable that it takes the entirety of the half time break to order one? Some people like a half time cup of coffee, is it acceptable that the kiosk runs out of milk? I imagine if the product and service was acceptable, then the pricing wouldn’t be as much of an issue. But people are within their rights to voice their displeasure at something that is part of their matchday ritual.

The brews have been preloaded with milk for nearly 2 years now, people need to get over the milk

Never been a truer saying than a certain type of person & money parting. To force change sometimes you need to unite & boycott it's the only way things improve.
Dead right - but - there’s been a food boycott going on for a couple of seasons now- the club don’t notice because they’ve sold the franchise. Most bring their own food n drink now
