There’s plenty to be positive about there.

Desperately need a right sided centre half and a midfielder capable of scoring a few goals.
I though our right sided centre half was a level above most of the rest.
It was Ekdal who looked the weakest link in what was actually a pretty well organised and solid back 3 / 5.
There was a huge difference once Walker departed.
(Didn't think Ekdal had a poor game by any means though)

A midfielder who can 'pick a pass' for me. The other area we are weak is at centre forward. No shots or headers from a supposed Premier league centre forward must be a first. Woefully inadequate.

Hartman may be a decent player but he wouldn`t get to take another corner or free kick again they were absolute tripe

Did he have an opportunity to shoot or head towards goal?

I thought we had the bones of a good structure with the back 5 in the first half. We looked solid and had a few bits and pieces around their goal. Very little in the way of creativity but I guess that’s the way it’s going to be this season.

The middle centre half could do with upgrading, possibly using a loan. Ekdal and Worrall are good Championship players but I’d not be confident with either there next week. We’ll see if that becomes an area we strengthen.

A tripe free kick led to their goal. We had one a few minutes earlier which was aimlessly floated into the box. Be better passing it and keeping possession if we’ve no one to take a decent one or players to attack and win it.

Another thing to take from today is, Craig pawson being the ref. If that’s the standard and that’s the sort of little fouls prem refs are going to give all season then it’s going to be an even more frustrating watch.

He's the centre forward. He was on the pitch for around 65 minutes. No threat from him at all. Their centre half must have been disappointed when he went off.

One of the first teams I’ve watched and thought they have actually been practicing this, every corner they where already half way to the ground as the ball came in.

Did anyone catch the name of the lad that was from city playing for Lazio? He was the one that passed it to Pedro who then made the assist.

Thought he looked really good

Found who it was, Dele-Bashiru played for city youth, that must have been what the commentator meant.

Sorry I should’ve clarified, what I meant was a centre half to play alongside in a back four. Didn’t mean a right back coming narrow.

Agree. Thought he was excellent. Strong. Got all over the pitch. Good on the ball. Very quick. A real handful

Our 2nd half (finishing) line-up looks really weird. I wouldn't read too much into this game or its result.

One thing I did notice today was that the Times Like These montage was replaced by the Natasha Bedindfield thing , which I’m not against seeing before games but not if they replace it.

The Foo Fighters one needs to stay

We played some good stuff first half, but our forward players seem to be afraid to shoot. Anthony quilts on a few occasions passing when shooting looked the better option, Foster and Hannibal as well.

So it's everybody else's fault. He consistently has little or no effect on any game he's involved in. Unfortunately out of his depth.

If we are going to play the system we did in the first half, we need a bully up top who can put himself about, relieve pressure and stretch play. Hopefully Broja will do this, but I feel we need another in, maybe a loan, as Foster isn't the guy to do that.

I think the consensus on Foster is that he is generally poor as a 9.

We had a lot of the ball in the final third yesterday but lacked any real attacking threat. We need a striker who can run into space and cause problems for their defence. The ball was played across the area and into the box with no one on the end of them. Hopefully Broja is the man to do this. I think we are good to go, just need another striker if we realistically want to stay in the Prem.

I don't particularly think foster is the long term answer by any means

My comments were in reply to the poster who said he didn't have a shot or header on target yesterday. My point being he didn't get the service, and it's 50/50 about crosses into the box, should someone get on the end of them, or are they badly directed crosses?

Ekdal played well it was non tracking back by Koleosho that gifted the goal .Luca looked way off the pace and disinterested when on.Its a shame if this once talented star is on the wane.I thought this year would be a breakout season
Sonne also had a good game and unlucky not to score .Mom ,Hannibal who covered every inch of the pitch.

It’s extremely harsh to pick out koleosho for their goal. Came from a poor free kick from Pires and then a shocking first touch from Hannibal. Then a great through ball from Pedro.

I actually thought when koleosho came on he looked Sharpe and gave us some direct fast play on the left.

It's been said plenty of times that foster's feeding off scraps but good strikers despite that make things happen. Apart from harking back to a good Aston villa performance yonks ago it's difficult to figure out what he actually offers. Again another 1 who's had his fair share of problems at some point the nursemaiding needs to stop & the realisation that we are supposed to be a professional football club would come in handy.

My mark was given for his performance not his personality. I don't know the man at all but you have the audacity to suggest that I don't like him. I repeat; my mark out of 10 was given based solely on his contribution today which I thought was generally poor.

I did say that, talking about the thread where you mark players performance from yesterday
How you relate that to me talking about his personality is beyond me. I told you I was talking about him as a player, but you ignore that.

I know it's not perfectly accurate, but transfermarkt values him at 7.5m. For his age I'd say that's a steal

Yes I agree thought he looked a beast. The way he smashed Edwards of the ball for there goal is exactly what we need.
