Phil Bird was on commentary for an about 2 minutes there… back to the Italians now.

Glad to hear it. Still looking short of craft and attacking threat.

We are two or three players of having a squad that has a real chance of staying up. Hopefully the likes of Tella, Eriksen/Barkley are on our radar.

Maybe I am a bit nuts but I honestly think we are 2 or 3 Quality signings away from being able to challenge for a top half finish.

Maybe another CF a Number 10 and another DM.

If we are going to be playing with the 3 at the back, we are a top level right wing back short. Roberts/sonne a good option but we need a starter for that position

Agree. Also crying out for someone who can take a decent set piece

Sonne looked lost for the majority of the first half. Not sure if he’s struggling with the tactics or just isn’t good enough because I’ve seen that little of him .

Another central midfielder and a striker is on my wish list

I’ve seen some people say they thought he played well, it’s interesting how people see the game.

I see a lot of effort and running in him but don’t think he’s got the on ball quality and physicality.

Not sure anyone’s has seen enough of him yet, apart from Parker of course. Looked like he was very hesitant to go forward as the wingback. Maybe he’s shown glimpses in training games etc , almost got a goal at the back stick though which was good to see

If we insist on using Walker on the right of a back 3 then I completely agree.

Once all our CBs are fit we have a decent RB in Kyle Walker.

Our centre halves are poor aside from Esteve, need an Egan Riley replacement. Tuanzebe hasn’t played CB in years, Ekdal is woefully slow and Worrall was turd last season.

Need a Brownhill replacement in that advanced midfield role, someone who can get up and down but chip in with a few goals, I rate Hannibal but he doesn’t have that end product in the final third to play that role.

Even when all the CBs are fit, I still see Walker playing right side of a back 3.

We have a real problem with squad size. Ideally we still would want a starting cb, a right wing back and a central midfielder along with a more creative attacking midfielder

We aren't going to get all those but even as it is the squad size is unmanageable. There's no way we can have a really close knit squad like last season with so many players not playing.
I don't know if Parkers too nice to do it but if I was him I'd probably be taking some of them.out of the training squad completely and creating a secondary 'bomb squad' as they are commonly known to try and get them out as quickly as possible.

Totally agree. Ball winning CB and a creative CM and I think we’d have enough.

I hope we don't play Walker as a centre back, he's been arguably the best right back in world football over the last 10 years or so.

Back in the day we were critiscised for having to sell in order to buy.

We are now in a stronger position and will keep players until we get the replacement in.

There are still 3 weeks to get the players in and out, its the modern transfer window that squads bloat and then get trimmed as the window progresses.

In relation to the players required, a creative midfielder is definitely required, Eriksen would be ideal, and another quick, experienced centre forward who knows where the net is, Vardy would be perf.ect

Starting cb - 50/50 Unsure on this and not as essential as other positions IMO, as with Walker on the right CB we looked very good along with Ekdal (mistake aside) and Steve.

Right wing back - Agree Sonne looked good today, but, and possibly harsh on Sonne/Roberts a player with genuine pace (like the coventry lad) would definitely be more effective.

Central midfielder - Disagree Not as essential IMO we've signed Ugochukwu

Creative attacking midfielder - Agree - Eriksen would be perfect in this set up.

I'd suggest a possible culture as manifested itself where people might be happy not playing they are still getting paid. Some of us seem to have the idea that players who don't get selected & don't play as often are automatically unhappy without exploring the possibility that they could be content with the way things are. I realise footballs different but in some work environments doing as little as possible whilst still getting paid is quite attractive.

It's a fair point. The only ones I genuinely think would go down that route are Obafemi and possible Benson. I'm basing that off nothing though, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.

I was pretty sceptical of Obafemi though when I saw his ridiculous celebrations after our first promotion. You'd have thought he was top scorer and a key player with the way he was carrying on. I had a bad feeling about his attitude from that moment on.

Interesting to see Parker putting Ekdal in the side ahead of Worrall after a number of us were shouted down on here for saying Ekdal is a better player.

Can see Worrall going to Sheff Utd on loan, especially after their result today.

I think another centre midfielder is the most essential position, Parker will avoid playing Hannibal deep if he can for some reason or we only have 3 out and out centre midfielders in the squad at the moment

We looked solid today for the best part. Severely lacking a striker and central attacking player who can drive with the. Ball. Hope Borja hits the ground running cos we need him to.

And how many minutes did Worrall play last season for you to say he was ‘turd’. In most of his appearances he just came on to protect a lead late in the game .

With Steve & Walker either side of him his lack of pace wouldn’t be an issue. Could do very well in that system.

I've played in some half decent football teams (not that it is really relevant), but I have never known a player who doesn't want to play.

To be honest I don't think it would be openly expressed if any said player didn't want to play. There's plenty of ways to skin a cat. The point I was trying to make before was that it shouldn't just be assumed that a player is unhappy because he isn't playing if you stop putting money into his bank account then he might be unhappy.

I've played in some half decent football teams (not that it is really relevant), but I have never known a player who doesn't want to play.
I think you'd be surprised.

When you say half decent....I'm talking about professional footballers when its their job.

What, like basically robbing him? I agree, no employee would be happy with that.
I'd say as long as you keep paying them they wouldn't kick up a fuss or rock the boat in terms of minimal playing time. Good evening.

I'm really disappointed if this is the way of things.

If we are going to be playing with the 3 at the back, we are a top level right wing back short. Roberts/sonne a good option but we need a starter for that position
I would imagine that Tuanzebe will be the first choice right wing back. I don't think he's come here just to sit on the bench.
Alternatively he could play right sided centre-back in a 4 with Walker at RB.

No chance Tuanzebe is going to play as a wing back

He mainly played right back at Ipswich and as I said, he hasn’t come here to sit on the bench.
If fit he is an excellent footballer with a good pedigree. With the signings of both him and Walker I really don’t see us signing another right sided defender - especially as we would still have Roberts, Sonne and Sambo on the payroll.

We still have Humphreys and hopefully Beyer as well as Tuanzebe at CB to come into the fold. I'd be happy for all those three to start a game if fit.

From an attacking midfield pov, we have loads of options imo. If we are to bring in new players I'd like to see some move on first. If Ramsey and Tresor aren't deemed good enough to play in that ACM spot, we need them out (we might well be trying) and then move for a loan. We have JBL who can play centrally behind the striker, flemming as a 10 also.

I think we're dismissing a lot of talent already in the building perhaps. We also need a tight knit squad, playing two games to facilitate the squad a week before the big kick off isn't ideal. Some obviously higher quality would be good, but not if we can't shift some players on.

They will be just basing that on Parker’s post match interview. That said, I’d be amazed if we didn’t bring in at least 2 more given the loan slots we are still to make use of.
