I'd put Ekdal in the subs pile.

I'd also try and give Ramsey, Tresor and Beyer a loan out, as it is asking way too much for them to hit the ground running in the prem after long injuries.

Definitely try to ship out Obafemi, Benson, Delcroix, Sambo and Churlinov, as they are clearly not in the plans

Sorry, with work and others bits I'm all over the place with signings.

Has someone got an updated lineup formulation sheet?

My vague attempt at counting what might be our 25 man squad:

* players below the age requirement to be registered
- players unlikely to make the cut, either long term injured or needing to find games elsewhere.

Some borderline/fringe or maybe requiring-fitness players, I’ve given a number but added a question mark suggestion after.

1. Dubravka
2. Hladky (sell?)
- Green (sell/loan?)
*Weiss
3. Walker
4. Roberts
- Sonne (loan)
- Sambo (loan/sell)
5. Hartmann
6. Pires
7. Humphreys
8. Esteve
9. Tuanzebe
10. Ekdal
11. Beyer (loan?)
12. Worrall (sell/loan?)
- Delcroix (sell)
*Ugochukwu
13. Hannibal
14. Cullen
15. Laurent
16. Ramsey (loan?)
17. Edwards
- Benson (sell)
- Churlinov (sell)
18. Anthony
19. Larsen
20. Tchouma
*Koleosho
21. Tresor (sell/loan?)
*Banel (loan)
*Agyei (injured)
*Adewumi (loan)
22. Foster
23. Flemming
24. Broja?
25. Barnes
- Amdouni (injured)
- Obafemi (sell)

Based on that if Broja comes in then we wouldn’t be able bring any loans or perms over 21.

I would say out of Worrall, Ekdal and Delcroix that 2 out of 3 need to leave purely to free up squad space.

As much as Barnes is a great left around the place can we afford for him to take a place in the 25 man squad

I’d agree that 2/3 of those centre backs would need to leave. Delcroix definitely and I’d personally prefer to keep Ekdal over Worrall but some might disagree. It’s unclear how far away from PL fitness Beyer is, so he may benefit from a loan too.

Barnes probably wouldn’t have been offered a contract without Parker seeing a place for him, so I think his spot is safe (whether you or I agree with that, or not).

Given how utterly stacked we are with wingers, and given they may also be a fair bit off the pace fitness-wise for PL level at the moment, my gut feeling is at least one of Ramsey/Tresor might be loaned out.

Some loans/sales might be hard to arrange for some of our outer fringe players, but we can only hope

Does a club take a risk with a loan on Beyer though?

I’d say Ramsey does need a loan just to get back to playing consistent football.

I don’t actually think we are stacked out wide

Tchaouna and Edwards seem to be right wingers with koleosho playing there but he played his best football from the left in 23/24.

Anthony left wing and we assume that’s where Tresor would play. JBL played from the left in 23/24 but seems to have been playing central in pre season.

Don't we need players like Worrall if the defence needs packing out towards the end of a game, if we are hanging onto a lead in the last few minutes?

Dubravka/Hladky/Weiss

Walker/Roberts/Sonne
Tuanzebe/Ekdal/Worrall
Esteve/Humphreys/Delcroix
Hartmann/Pires

Cullen
Ugochukwu/Laurent
Hannibal/Ramsey

Edwards/Tresor/Benson
Anthony/JBL/Koleosho/Tchaouna

Broja/Flemming/Barnes

The squad is along these lines. That's 29 players even with some left out. I've assumed Benson and Beyer won't feature.
We still look really light in central midfield for me, there's no goals and no creativity really in that area so I'm wondering if Parkers looking to go to a 4411 with Flemming off Broja, or to the 3 at the back system he's tried.

Either way we need to get some players out ASAP with the below being first out of the door. They aren't going to get a look in so no point them being here

Benson
Beyer
Banal
Delcroix

Would imagine the squad would be this as things stand:

1 Dubravka
2 Hladky
3 Pires
4 Walker
5 Roberts
6 Hartmann
7 Tuanzebe
8 Humphreys
9 Esteve
10 Worrall
11 Ekdal
12 Beyer
13 Cullen
14 Laurent
15 Ramsey
16 Hannibal
17 Anthony
18 Edwards
19 Tchaouna
20 JBL
21 Tresor
22 Broja
23 Foster
24 Flemming
25 Barnes

With Weiß, Ugochukwu and Koleosho not needing to be registered (U21).

Would leave Sonne, Sambo and possibly Green looking at loans and Benson, Obafemi, Churlinov and Delcroix to be sold.

Then you have Banel, Agyei and Adewumi who could either stay as a squad options not needing to be registered or be loaned out.

If Beyer and Humphreys aren't likely to be fit before January then you have 2 squad spaces available for loans.

Ye, knew I'd miss someone.

Amdouni won't be fit for the majority so not counting him. Sort of demonstrates how big our squad is when written down. It's a bit ridiculous. Especially when we are so short at centre mid as.well. I think we'll have to sign another in there.

I think we are at the stage where it's as good as it gets, think Parker has a fighting chance of keeping us up with what we have, certainly better equipped to stay up than Kompany's squad was, i'm quite looking forward to this season

I assumed you left Amdouni out due to injury tbf but yes it’s easy to miss players out when trying to do a squad list.

On the training video on the website ‘inside gawthorpe’ Humphreys looked to be involved with the group so I don’t see him not being registered.

By all accounts Beyer is injured again so will likely miss out and I think we will look to move on Ekdal over Worrall. Still leaves 2 spots as you suggest though and potentially a 3rd spot if someone like Ramsey or even Tresor is loaned out.

I remember a few of the self proclaimed football experts on here lauding our summer signings during Kompany's top flight season (with some even talking about a top half finish) so I think I'll reserve judgement for a few months.

I thought Beyer was fit again - at least in terms of being over his injury, if not fully match ready..?

From what I've seen today assuming we stick with 3 cbs this is my line up when all fit. It's wingers or wing backs, but not both.

Dubravka
Walker Steve Humps
Anthony Cullin Les Hartman
Hannibal
Broja Flemming/Foster

Got to be honest I was one of them that couldn’t see how that team that breezed the Championship with such bravado under VK would not make a top half finish. Such was my optimism and belief that I put huge money (£10) on a cheeky top 6 finish.

Anyway surely going to be a big week this coming week for squad pruning?

You would imagine that after such a bad injury that he is likely to suffer other injuries as he continues to recover/rebuild fitness. I just hope the knee is okay……

Tony said it on one of the threads after one of the friendlies, he also hasn’t been pictured or videoed in any of the training sessions since being in Portugal which makes you think he’s either had a setback or is being extremely cautious.

Either way I think this season would be a massive ask to have the demands of the premier league on Beyer.

There was a video with Beyer where he was quite emotional about playing his first game since injury at the start of pre season. It doesn't look like he's made any appearances since so It seems logical that there must be some sort of injury.

It's a shame but as many have seen, he clearly still had a limp before his comeback. I seriously doubt he will ever play in a competitive game for us again.
