Booing the Jota minutes' silence

The Liverpool fans booing the national anthem is moronic, the Palace fans booing the minute’s silence for Jota is appalling.

I'm just patriotic. Get fed up of people slagging of our National Anthem and the Royals as well. It's all part of our countries heritage.

If only our royal family was as patriotic as you. They don’t really give a stuff about the country as long as they’re OK. Everything they do is designed to keep them in the wealth and privilege they’ve become accustomed to, and obviously, at our expense.

I think it’s quite illogical for scousers to expect opposition fans to honour to it after they do that for anthem. I mean what else did they expect to happen?

Why what has the national anthem got to do with anything? It is there for...not sure what actually, however, it is not restricted to parts of England, so all can have an opinion. Don't know why Liverpool fans decided to boo, unless they all came from Scotland.

A minutes silence to remember a dead person is entirely different and unconnected to a national symbol of allegiance to a monarch. It is for an individual, on this occasion, a fellow footballer, for the players and for football fans.

Crowds are not necessarily the identity of any of the individuals. Collective behaviour can be disconnected from reality.

If you apply common sense & you wanted something to run smoothly the logical thing to do is to ensure you do your utmost not to allow anything to get in the way of that & booing the national anthem isn't the wisest move. If palace responded not observing the DJ minute that's bang out of order but if you don't get the catalyst in the first place everything runs smooth.

Erm because the Scots routinely boo ( with much glee) the English National Anthem or does your outrage only work one way ?

Unfortunately we don't have an English National Anthem.

Our National Athem is dreadful. It works well as a football chant because, frankly, that’s all those 4 stanzas are.

Compare that to Flower of Scotland, Land of our Fathers, The Soldiers Song and its pitiful. The Spanish national anthem is more rousing and it doesn’t have any words.

Anyway. Back on topic. We happily boo every single national anthem when England play ‘insert country’ and I even recall the boos by the Brits when Mayweather fought Hatton in Vegas, so people disrespect our anthem (which is rubbish and, frankly, irrelevant) and we decide the best retaliation is to boo the death of a man in his late 20’s.

If you think that’s rational, I feel really sorry for you. And hope the climate is more balanced on your planet!

I don't condone the booing of the minutes silence for one minute, however is not simply a case of cause and effect? If Liverpool hadn't booed the national anthem would those fans have booed the silence?

Always someone who wants to be different so shouts something in order to create a reaction from others. The well meaning 'Shut up' is normally misinterpreted creating a counter reaction.

The knobheads have won and a sure fire way of confirming it is to have a minute's applause.

Of course it'll not be their fault, it will be due to a poor upbringing or some such excuse.
