How so? Their squad building has been impressive, to me. Perfect balance and a real mix of youth and experience. I can see why they are fancied to finish above us from the outside.
Big money on a lot of untested youngsters while consequently replacing the ones who got you there.

I think Xhaka is a great signing, but otherwise you've got:

21yr old from Strabourg
20yr old from Club Brugge
20yr old from Union SG
22yr old from Nijmegen

Those 4 alone are the best part of 80m euros with absolutely no experience of the English leagues and, given their age, not a whole lot of professional experience. Some might be world beaters, most won't be.

Parker mentioned that Big Les had played 60 minutes in a behind closed doors game on Saturday, in his post Lazio match interview.

Can we spend less energy pondering over these super star footballers Sunderland are buying. Who cares a stuff. Its what happens when your starting 11 cross that white line that really matters. Lets focus on ourselves. Oh and Palace are one of the few PL teams not to buy anyone this Summer but they held and eventually beat Liverpool yesterday. And Palace were denied a penalty for a hand ball against McCallister when on Friday night a virtually indentical handball by Dykes of Wrexham rewarded Ipswich with a last minute penalty and equaliser

Well he certainly sees a pass and can deliver it. Would certainly fit neatly into a midfield 3 on the left. It's just that Parker will now have probably formulated how he wants to play, and at this stage, will be looking for players to fit those plans.
He is also probably working on a specific list of no more than 5 or 6 at this stage.

I didnt think he was that impressive in the Championship and if Sunderland arent sure about him in the Premier League, why would we want him ?

I thought he was distinctly average for large parts of last season and we don’t need another non-goal scoring midfielder.

Would tend to disagree with the above. Thought Le Fee looked a cut above and similarly to Edwards never seemed to be playing at full speed. He missed a chunk being out too.

I think there were a few on here singing his praises.

Maybe it was Newcastle who posts on here who was one of those that rated him

Parker’s ‘a couple of areas’, or however he phrased it, would suggest two or three more.

Having filled key areas and brought together one of the most balanced looking squads (on paper) that we’ve had for some time, I suspect that further signings will be towards the end of the window.

Of course now that I’ve said that, there will be a signing tomorrow!!

I’d expect to see a few outgoings soon, we certainly need them

Agreed and I assume it will be for players who have run down their contracts waiting for the panic to start and hence the price rise.

I just hope we are in for Eriksen and Vardy.

Also, once the big clubs get who they want in, we can then offer a loan for players currently surplus to their requirements.

They would be two fantastic signings IMO.
I don’t think Vardy’s past it as a backup to Broja / impact sub.
Leicester under RVN just took years to get the ball forward, negating his pace.

Eriksen on a free would be a great bit of business plus two season long loans to use.

My one concern with Vardy would be he is a totally different striker to how we’ve been playing for the last 3 years. He likes the long ball over the top to use his pace. Not the greatest hold up man and for all his goals not really a fox in the box. Made s fine career from two attributes, his pace and his deadly finishing when 1 on 1.

Just been looking at Tony's PL signings list - we have made 13, the most. Unbelievably, Fulham haven't made any.

If all goes well, I expect ( hope ) that Sargent may still be incoming.

I doubt we'd be spending 40 mill on two strikers. Though Sargent now has 2 in 2

Given the excellent start both player and club have made to the new season I suspect Norwich will be keen to retain his services.

Really don’t want us to spend £20m on Sargent. Per posts above, I’d much rather we go for Vardy on a free as an option from the bench. Would offer that bit of experience and something different than we have already.

Sargent will score in the Championship. That’s not the level we require though, so a big risk at £20m.

I'm enjoying it tbh. I live near Sunderland and they are so confident of staying up, it makes me feel slightly sorry for them. They have no idea how far behind the rest of the teams we are, it'll be a long season for them and Leeds.

Bet Victor have Burnley priced up at 33/1 as a probable destination for Vardy so that is probably a non starter to be honest.

This is the sad thing for both Burnley and Sunderland fans. One one side you have our fans, who I think understand all too much just how hard the PL has become, which almost sets you down the route of expecting relegation. On the other side you have Sunderland fans, who after an 8 year absence seriously believe they can compete. The fact is they're miles behind. They finished 24 points behind us last season and have lost their best player in my opinion (Bellingham was brilliant at the Turf). They'll really struggle judging from their recruitment. They'll do well to hit 20 points. Us and Leeds will do well to make 30. It's a sad reflection of PL. Fingers crossed Wolves and Bournemouth fall apart!
