Support for Scott Parker.
Support for Scott Parker.
Well it’s that time of the year again and come 3:00 p.m. on Saturday the nerves will be setting in, well for me anyway.
I thought before we’ve kicked a ball I’d take this opportunity to give a thumbs up for Scott Parker, what a job he’s done since coming in, bearing in mind the turnover of players he had to deal with so soon after his arrival.
We all know it’s not going to be easy, we’re playing against some of the best players in the world, so with that in mind if things aren’t going well for us please, please don’t start slagging off the manager or the players, it really isn’t going to help. Let’s hope along the way we get a little bit of luck and manage to do the unthinkable. Enjoy the ride everyone and give Scott and the team the best support you can. Just remember, “ We’re Burnley not Barcelona”.

Agreed Beddie-I hope our fan base think the same. Who would have envisaged 12 months ago the position we find ourselves tonightbeddie wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 9:17 pmWell it’s that time of the year again and come 3:00 p.m. on Saturday the nerves will be setting in, well for me anyway.

17th would be a massive achievement. SP has got us well organised and that goes a long way. Just hope we can find goals. Either way, he’s deserved our backing. UTC.

He deserves patience as well as support after how we finished last season. We were dire for the first few months, but stronger, faster and more dangerous by Easter

Re: Support for Scott Parker.
Can I mention Burnley's first game of the season, 2017/18 at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were Premier League champions. Burnley 0-3 up at half time. We won the game 2-3.
OK, we'd already been in the Premier League the season before, promoted in the 2015/16 season.
Dare to dream. Spurs owe us one.

"We" won't. The odd overly vocal knob head might do but then that's life.

Re: Support for Scott Parker.
Whilst I tend to concur with the OP, let’s not forget we are fans of this club, and have been for years. We care. We feel the defeats, we feel the disappointing performances, we feel every moment of the spankings and the bad results, and because of that, we should be allowed to express those feelings on here. We should be able to vent a spleen at the bizarre starting line up, the puzzling substitutions and the insistence of playing out from the back against the likes of Liverpool and Citeh.
What we SHOULDN’T be doing, is booing the players, chastising the manager, or harassing the chairman and directors during or after games. We should be with them, every step. Win, lose or draw, irrespective of the opposition, we stand together before, during and after the game.
Here’s to an excellent season. I’m confident of making a good fist of it. UTC

Sadly Dyches first season in the Prem we were relegated
At no point was there any calling for his head so why with Parker
We all no the challenge, hopefully we can stay up and like with Dyche have a decent run in the Prem in the following seasons.

Stand by Parker. No doubt we are sailing head on into a storm that will likely dish out some pastings to us, but stay with him. He's a very intelligent football man, and I think he has learned a lot and will learn more.
We are miles stronger when we all pull in the same direction.

Re: Support for Scott Parker.
Let's make no bones about it, there is a sizeable number of posters who think Parker is unfit to manage in the PL. They are waiting. If you doubt this just look back at posts from 12 months ago.beddie wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 9:17 pmWell it’s that time of the year again and come 3:00 p.m. on Saturday the nerves will be setting in, well for me anyway.

While I fully support your viewpoint they will re-surface very quickly if life is difficult, as might very well be the case. Personally I think they should be marginalised rather than challenged.

Article in The Times today (behind a paywall). Good interview. Personally wish him all the best and hope we stick with him.

Re: Support for Scott Parker.
I had my doubts when he was appointed and these doubts persisted throughout the Autumn and into the Winter but I ate my humble pie and admitted I was wrong from January onwards.
A strange one where we were much better in the Championship under Kompany, in my opinion, but I think we'll be much more prepared and set up for the Premier League under Parker.
I think that the Premier League season under Kompany has helpfully reduced expectations and made all fans appreciate the scraps and fighting that needs to be done to try and survive and that should unite all supporters together with away fans singing their hearts out and home fans making the Turf a fortress all season long, there will be bumps and falls along the way but let's remember we're all Clarets and we all want the end goal of surviving this season.

Re: Support for Scott Parker.
I jumped on him way too early, bad mistake from me. I back him 100% after the second half of last season, not remotely interested in getting rid of him even if we lose every game this season.

You can leave me out of this, he has well and truly earned this season.
If it goes wrong he has also earned another go at the championship.

Re: Support for Scott Parker.
I think that Parker has done an amazing job and he's got my support 100%. From the interviews that I've seen with him, he really represents the values that a club like Burnley should be about. I think we are lucky to have him and it's telling that so many of the new signings talk about how influential he was in them signing for the club. This season is going to be tough but hopefully our fans will support him and the players!

You missed walking out with 30 minutes left if we go 0-2 down. I can't think of a bigger "**** you" to the players and staff.bobinho wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 10:29 pm

Re: Support for Scott Parker.
Parker will have my support even if we get beat every week. He’s not spent anywhere near as much a VK.
I was more annoyed with VK for the amount he spent, the little that spending seemed to produce, and his inability to change style. He cast aside several players that were pivotal to promotion and replaced them with expensive additions that were no better.
If we are struggling at Xmas I suspect the board will get rid

Can I also ask certain posters not to ruin any match threads when there's still an hour before we've even kicked off.

I agree and it’s all about the style of play.
We know Parker is much more Dyche like than VK was. VK was all about the City way which produces lots of goals when playing teams at similar or less ability. The issue is it’s suicide against even slightly better teams.
Whereas the strong defensive first style of Parker and Dyche might not be as pretty but it’s consistent week in week out. And a slightly or even much better team can often find it difficult to break down a solid defensive.
I predict out most common scores this season will be a 1-0 loss, a 0-0 draw, and a 1-0 win

Yeah definitely going to be a few 0-0s again.
I heard a stat the other day that the last (only) time Parker had a full season in the Premier League- with Fulham- they scored a total of 9 goals at home all season!

That is correct Fulham were one of the 3 lowest scoring teams at home that season alongside Sheffield United (12 goals) and Burnley (14 goals).Winstonswhite wrote: ↑Sat Aug 16, 2025 8:46 amYeah definitely going to be a few 0-0s again.

I will be surprised if Burnley do not bring in a few more players before the window closes to add some more firepower and creativity.
