Don’t say things like “nice finish”

That implies a goal was scored and I was sat here waiting for it
Haha! Yes, sorry for the false hope. It was a nice finish for us, though, tbf!

Not too disheartened with that at all. Still got a lot of talent on the bench.

Great to know you can shove players over in the box if they don’t have the ball.

One error but very pleased with what I have seen overall. Well done lads. Well done Scott.

Oliver has been a disgrace. Romero should be carded. They've taken Anthony out which should be a pen. Plus, the Fozzy free kock on the counter. He owes us a decision here. Not getting anything.

Hartman and Foster impressive so far.

Nothing too controversial but I don't think the ref has done us any favours so far.

I actually think the fact that Anthony would have struggled to get even close to that cross saved Porto

We grew into the game after a pretty scary first 10-15 mins.

Promising signs from us.

Despite beaing behind, I'm really pleased with our performance.

A soft goal to concede and I can't see us scoring but we are giving it a proper go and we are playing very well.

Nice link-up play. Foster as good as we see him. Not a lot to criticise.

You don't have to be able to get the ball. Where the ball is has no bearing on whether it is a penalty or not.

Have we grown into the game or are we just attacking more because we've gone down a goal?

I'm encouraged with this half at 0-0. Not sure how to feel at 0-1.
I think we've grown into the game. Spurs took advantage of our early nerves, which were only natural. Some strong individual performances, encouragingly including Foster.

Positive apart from goal and not making more of our chances. We're in this, need to avoid conceding early as Spurs no doubt come out all guns blazing.

We've got into some decent positions but the lack of quality is killing us.

Well, that and that one moment where we switched off at the back.

All very familiar, tbh.

Felt this was a half where we looked the better side but they looked the more likely, a bit like Lazio and no doubt other games will too.

Zero creativity really with Anthony and Hannibal, I am far from convinced by those choices with Edwards and others available.

Four errors including the critical one from Esteve that I have counted - Spurs were rumoured to be in for him so no doubt a big pressure game that up till now he is struggling in. We are definitely the correct club for him at this moment.

Foster, Walker, Cullen all good.

All in all though, this is a side that should win some games. We just need the correct personnel to be a threat at the other end because teams will suss that out and pile more forward. We have had more shots but none have been likely to go in.

Been impressed overall, but just as we thought, we lack a cutting edge up front.

We need a slice of luck or a worldie to get back into this.

Everyone knows my thoughts on Oliver who I've called out for being vastly overrated and basically cr@p for a number of seasons!

If he's held up as our standard bearer it's no wonder officiating in this country is in the toilet!

I feel like we'd be looking more potent if we were countering against VVD and Konate — Van de Ven is absolutely rapid, and Romero is no slouch either.

Need to keep those through balls for Foster, he's getting the better of Romero, but keep it away from Van Der Ven.

Spurs have been very sloppy in possession and our press has been very good.

My heart sank for the time up to and including the goal, I thought reality punched me in the face. What happened after that goal, however, was brilliant from us. Got me out of my seat so many times. That's all I want, to stay in games as much as possible and to be brave. Well done Clarets.

I'd be tempted by Flemming on for Hannibal before too long, let him play the number 10 role behind Foster.

We look a mature team that is set up really well. We are pressing well but not recklessly and we are mixing our play well. Foster has been a real threat as well.

Gave away a poor goal. Ref giving us nothing. Brownhill in place of Laurent and we would be winning. Done much better than I expected but goal scoring is our problem. Get Lesley fit and in for Ekdal and Broja for Foster and we will cause a lot of teams a problems

So if a player is pushed over in the area, but the ball is at the other end of the pitch, you’d want a penalty?

For anyone not able to watch the game and feeling really bad that we didn't get awarded a penalty based on many of the observations on here. Please don't feel bad it was nowhere even close to a penalty. Simply passion and I'm not knocking that.
