(my marks are based on premier league standard so harsher than same performance in EFL)

Dubravka 5 - slow to the goals, a couple of which could have been saved
Sonne 5 - tidy, but didn’t shine in any particular way and creativity poor
Hartman 6 - not as ambitious as against Lazio which I felt was a mistake because we have little else
Walker 6 - signs of class but could have been tighter on occasions
Esteve 5 - big error playing out for the first goal, a couple of minor errors too, they get punished at this level
Cullen 7 - tidy and kept them out well
Laurent 6 - good energy but didn’t carry the ball well enough, Championship player
Hannibal 4 - as an attacker he didn’t do enough to create or finish, he didn’t harrass as much as Lazio either
Anthony 4 - like Hannibal, his tricks get read at this level and he should have been pulled far, far earlier
Foster 6 - very lively and was unlucky to be up against the rapid Van Der Ven

(not sure of sub minutes)

Flemming 5 - ineffective in short spell
Tchoema 6 - some good flicks and promise
Brunn Larsen 6 - steady but game had gone
Lesley 7 - looked very very good in short spell which is promising

Parker 5 - good solid set up but wrong lineup offering little creativity despite good territorial play (our xG will be well below shots). Edwards (mini-Messi as per Spurs of old) essential. Four at the back a risk worth taking as soon as two down.

A pleasing day that got worse and more depressing as it went on. I sense we will Parker The Bus for too long in too many games and it will limit our chances of shocks. This is what got Fulham relegated of course. If we have a back eight including two DCMs and a GK we have to have goals up front, not workhorses like Anthony and Hannibal, who are perfect when holding a lead but offer little against a settled defence. There will be a time in games for the whole squad but my instinct is Scott will be too cautious and fail to get the balance including against Sunderland next week. I wrote that kind of thing 9 months ago after those 0-0s and then he improved, hopefully he will again, because he is a nice chap, just very “safe” and it gives me a deja vu uneasy feeling despite a spirited performance.

We could play till next Saturday and not score a goal.
Foster is mid table Championship striker, at best.
Laurent is a last 10 minutes sub in the Championship.
Sonne is...well...nothing.
Hannibal was like a lost dog, running around and achieving very little.

We need a MASSIVE improvement next week.

Have people.watched a different game. I thought we were good and a goal threat the whole.way through. But for van der ven being unbelievably good we'd have had more chances than we did as well.
We caused them real problems at times.

Dubravka 6 - couple of good saves, a bit weak on a couple of corners / crosses
Sonne 6 - did ok, not great quality on the ball but worked hard
Hartman - 6 good first half on the ball, did pretty well when matched up against Kudus second goal aside.
Ekdal 4 - poor for the first goal, too slow for the third, also got rolled a few times when trying to get tight.
Esteve 5 poor ball into nowhere for first goal and odd shakeu moment
Walker 6 did alright
Cullen 7 mom
Hannibal 5 - really quiet first 20 then drifted in and out of the game until
taken off
Laurent 5 - some good bits some awful passes
Anthony 5 - what we know, works hard, good first touch but on the ball (dribbling and passing in particular) was not up to the required standard
Foster 6 (.5) worked really hard up there on his own

Subs - all 6

I think many people on here realise we played well for large parts of the game. As is most often the case, it comes down to the ruthlessness of finishing.

I think the positive comments come from the very low expectations we have in the Prem. I thought we had some promising moments of possession today and there are some good signs for the rest of the season but ultimately we were too slow, too small and it was a copy and paste performance from some of our last games in the Prem. Our finishing was dreadful today and it just puts more pressure on us. Hannibal's chance has to hit the back of the net, and then Ugochukwu's later on too. They weren't easy opportunities but the standard we're at, we simply have to be taking them to keep ourselves in with a chance of getting points. Today was a textbook example of the opposition ruthlessly punishing us not long after we've cocked up a chance. We've seen it all before and we'll see it again.

Onwards.

Certainly the finishing was clinical from Spurs, but we didn't look great defensively. The new system either needs time to gel and/or we need better players to play in it.

Alternatively, we could just go back to a back four that served us so well last season.

Think it's just a formation we will play against teams we aren't expected to get anything from.

Dubravka - 6
Sonne - 6 - some promising signs, needs to believe in himself
Walker - 6 -
Ekdal - 5 - Hopefully finds his feet quickly
Esteve 5 - Mistake for the opener with the pass killed us
Hartman 6 - Hard debut against Kudus, has something
Cullen 7 - is really up against it in this league
Laurent 4 - ability with the ball is very poor
Hannibal 5 - couldn’t get close to them like he usually would, maybe a system teething problem. First touch was off it today
Anthony 6 - worked hard, should have scored
Foster 7 - grafted, made decent runs on the counter unfortunately Van de ven is extremely quick

Larsen - 6 good movement
Lesley - 6 looks off the pace at moment but some good touches

Dubravka 6 - Solid, not much he can do with the goals.
Sonne 5 - He stands off his man way too much for me and offered very little in the way of trying to get forwards or exploit the space on the right.
Walker 7 - Was trying to orchestrate it and shut out quite a few of their through balls. Definitely the best of the defence.
Ekdal 5 - Too many mistakes and his speed was exploited a few times. He isn't ready for this level IMO.
Esteve 6 - Thought Steve didn't look as assured as normal and was caught a couple of times, but overall did okay,.
Hartman 7 - He still did well, but wasn't nearly as positive as in the Lazio game. We needed that type of creativity today.
Cullen 7 - Josh did well, won a lot in the middle and played some nice football at times.
Laurent 6 - Looked okay first half, was holding his own quite well, but drifted off second half.
Hannibal 6 - Not the usual intensity we expect from him, but he still has excellent vision and we should have scored through him.
Anthony 5 - Wasn't really in the game that much today, he just didn't seem strong enough at crucial times.
Foster 7 - Impressed with Lyle he really tried to run that line on the counter and was unlucky to come up against the pace of VDV. Won a lot of defensive headers too.

Subs:
Ugochukwu 7 - Looks like he might have something about him. Not seen enough yet, but fingers crossed.
Bruun Larsen 7 - Certainly tried to create and his movement was good.
Flemming 6 - No real impact, but the game was already gone.
Tchaouna 6 - As Flemming.

Dubravka 5 Trafford saves 2 of those goals
Sonne 4 I don’t think he touched the ball, the 2nd goal he’s just standing watching Richarlison and where is he for the third?
Esteve 7
Walker 7
Ekdal 4 all over the place didn’t get near Richarlison once all afternoon. Looked like he was running in treacle for the third, made it so easy for Johnson.
Hartman 7
Cullen 7
Laurent 6
Hannibal 4 I like Hannibal but Parker’s use of him is bizarre, he’s not a wide player and he’s not a number 10, he scored 1 goal last season, I understand he’s a pressing 10 and there for energy but when there’s a severe lack of creativity and goals elsewhere in the team, you can’t sacrifice that further for just legs.
Anthony 6
Foster 8 I haven’t been his biggest fan but It would be dishonest of me to pretend like he didn’t play well today.

Ultimately pretty predictable and poor, soft at the back and blunt upfront. I like the system but Parker needs help, you can’t lose 3 of your best players and replace them with players behind them in the pecking order at a lower level.

From tv
Dubravka 7 did well at the simple things but a couple of dodgy moments
Sonne 6 I’d sooner have Roberts there
Walker 7 some class touches in a tough game
Ekdal 6 not fast enough for the key position in the centre of a back three
Hartmann 7 did well in his PL debut, he will learn as he gets more experience
Laurent 5 gave far too many poor passes to their players in dangerous positions. He’s a very average Championship player at best
Cullen 7 his size is against him as a PL midfielder
Hannibal 6 ran about to not much effect
Foster 7 mom really gave 100% today. He needed support up front but there wasn’t any
Anthony 5 one of the most frustrating players I’ve seen for a long while
Hugo 7 he did more in his first five minutes than Laurent did all game
Larsen 6 a couple of nice touches but I’m not sure why we bought him.
The game went very much as I expected. They didn’t look great but they had more PL technique and quality than we did. Our midfield never looked good enough to hurt them and Foster, who played well, was totally isolated up front.
I’m sure Parker will make changes for next week.

Dubravka - 6 nothing he could do for the three goals
Sonne - 6 I thought he was ok first half but struggled second
Walker - 6 again just steady (although it was clear he is much more comfortable on the ball than either Ekdal or Esteve
Ekdal 5 - I thought he looked exposed on a couple of occasions and if I’m honest his positioning for the third looked good but he was just simply outpaced.
Esteve 5 - probably quite harsh but I thought that was a really poor game for Esteve (for his own impeccably high standards). Out of position on a few occasions (the third he was about 15 yards ahead of the other 2 CBs.
Hartmann - 5 got beat by Kudus on a few occasions, this will have been a wake up call on the difference in standard he used to.
Cullen 6 - thought he was quite good till about 60 odd mins then faded.
Laurent 6 - decent first half
Hannibal 5 - I just thought he struggled to affect play. Pretty quiet all game.
Anthony - 6 second best player today I thought. Didn’t always work but our best outlet on the break.
Foster 7 - looked sharp and I think this style suits him. Our best player today and if he keeps playing like that goals/assists will come.

Anthony - 6 second best player today I thought. Didn’t always work but our best outlet on the break.
Foster 7 - looked sharp and I think this style suits him. Our best player today and if he keeps playing like that goals/assists will come.
Won’t rate Lesley, Larsen or Tchouna but I thought all three added something.

Lesley is a unit with a good touch and passing range, if he can get fit for next week he’s got to be in (thought he looked like he was blowing after ten mins tonight).

Larsen looked to be our best creative outlet when on.

Tchouna didn’t do too much but I thought there were flashes of a talent there. Big, strong athletic. I would be tempted to start him on the right against Sunderland

Dubravka 6
Sonne 6
Walker 7
Ekdal 7
Esteve 6 (he was at fault for the first goal - at that stage of the game just clear your lines!)
Hartman 7
Laurent 5 Completely out of his depth against this level of opponent
Cullen 5 As Laurent, but a bit less out of his depth.
Hannibal 5 Anonymous
Anthony 6
Foster 6

Subs all 6

At this level, we are so weak in the centre of midfield it’s unbelievable. Spurs played at least 4 forward passes along the ground from centre half into their forwards.

We desperately need a ball player in midfield and a poacher up top.

Otherwise we played well and gave a good account of ourselves against one of our bogey teams.

Good to see 8 of last year's squad startIng. think the scoreline slightly flattered Spurs and there was enough, especially in the first half, to encourage us. Far from our strongest line up as well.

Dubravka 6- good early save and about par for him
Sonne 6- lively but surely will move aside
Walker 7 class at times if a little loose
Ekdal 6- incredibly slow , cup ties only
Esteve 6 not his best today but tough prem intro
Hartman 6 he’s a class act and will have easier days
Cullen 7 worked hard though overun at times
Laurent 6- powder puff shots from the lumpen Josh.Dod find space though
Hannibal 5- apart from pressing what does he do ?
Anthony 7 stuck at it and awkward at times
Foster 7 certainly lively but we need better and faster

Subs:
Ugochukwu 7 hope to see him start soon added urgency
Bruun Larsen 7 lively if slim pickings , should play a big part this season

It was a free hit away to Spurs and surely the weakest side we’ll field all season . Onwards and upwards

Dubravka 6 In real time thought he could have done better with the first. Looked like he hadn’t spent to much time with his team mates.
Sonne 5 Nothing I have seen, suggests that he is a right back. Harsh but if Roberts or Tuazenbe are fit he is probably 4th choice in that position.
Walker 7 A class above, long throw is a weapon. Nice of the spurs fans to give him such a good reception
Ekdal 6 couple of good blocks, did ok
Esteve 6 Lessons to learn at this level, some good some very un- Steve things today.
Hartman 6 another who did ok but nothing more.
Cullen 6 culpable with Esteve with the first goal, had a good spell minutes 15 to 40 then faded as did the team
Laurent 5 He’s going to struggle at this level.
Hannibal 5 Should have had a goal today, but took an unnecessary second touch.
Anthony 6 won free kicks in key positions, linked with Lyle well,
Foster 6 I like Lyle but then I liked Juke I want him to succeed but sadly believe he will go the same way as Juke.

Subs:
Ugochukwu 6
Bruun Larsen 6
Flemming 6
Tchaouna 6

Admittedly this is perhaps a harsh assessment after the first game, but nothing pre season or today looks like an improvement on last year.

Players need to be 7 or 8’s every week otherwise we will be in trouble.

We had a good spell on the first half, but had already gone behind to a goal that could have been stopped. Ditto the second goal also. Those crosses have to be stopped especially if we are playing 5 at the back.

Our set pieces have to improve as it looks like those will play a significant part in creating chances.

Needs 4 2 3 1 formation without Ekdal and Sonne at the back. Les in the middle with Cullen. Larsen instead of Hannibal on the right and a ten behind Broja.

Parker needs to wear his coat as well.

Shocked that some have given Ekdal and Sonne a 7 (good). How can a centre half largely responsible for conceding 3 goals be rated as good?

Tbf KRBFC you rated Esteve a 7 when he was directly responsible for the 1st and 3rd.

You’re not marking Ekdal and Esteve with the same metrics.
