Anthony
Great performance, wonderful flick to set up Cullen and a fabulous finish for his goal. Impressive.

Re: Anthony
Delighted for him. Took stick in the early days and was seen by some as a Parker favourite but he got better as we got better. Finished last season on fire and sounds like he has had a great match.

I almost started the same thread, thought he was superb but he was one of many. Cullen and Walker also stood out for me.

Terrific performance and a tremendous player.

Re: Anthony
Anthony and Cullen today were fantastic. Both scored good goals and had good assists
Re: Anthony
Felt last week that Anthony and Hannibal needed to up their game a touch to potentially have the ability to play in the PL. Today they did, granted different level opposition however both performed well.
I know it’s early days but the performance against Spurs was decent and they gone to City and won today.
Nothing to be getting carried away with however this team / squad / manager has a lot more about it than the previous feeble attempt at the PL.

Thought every player made a positive contribution today, and as he hasn't had a mention yet, I'd like to say that Joe Worrall came on and did exactly what was required of him.

Great composed finish to secure the points for us yesterday too.

Re: Anthony
Anthony just seems to be thriving under a manager that loves him and a club that appreciates hard working players.
If he can keep developing at the rate he is, we will have a very solid premier league performer on our hands.

Re: Anthony
There was a night match last season, can't remember which, where Anthony was playing on the right, and he just looked devoid of confidence in the first half. Didn't look like he could or wanted to beat a man. At that point I was wondering if we'd signed a dud.
Since he got switched to the left permanently he's been a revelation, and he's only improving. He's only 25 and got the best years ahead of him. His work rate is also phenomenal, and you can see why Parker wanted him.

Re: Anthony
I'm a big fan and hugely appreciative of the work he puts in for 90 minutes+ every single match. A goal and assist yesterday was richly deserved with the quality he showed in those decisive moments.
That awful poster who says that Parker has blood on his hands for not selecting Koleosho over Anthony will hopefully have the humility to recognise that he's backed the wrong horse. Again.

Re: Anthony
I thought he was starting to look at little tired and was thinking he should maybe have been replaced and then he went and did that.
A really good performance and his work rate is phenomenal like a superpowered George Boyd.

Re: Anthony
Really great player for us, involved in pretty much everything positive that we do.
Recall someone saying he wasn't worth 2.5m, no rewards for guessing who.

At the reported £10m I really hope it's not an obligation, isn't worth a quarter of that.

Re: Anthony
That's clearly an exaggeration and in the contect of JBL being available for £1.5m. But even so, at that point I don't recall anyone challenging that. He'd just been moved to the right after even Parker tired of giving him chances on left after 12 straight games there.
At the time we signed him in August I'd said £10m was too much but £5m I'd be happy with.

If that's clearly an exaggeration then so are all of your posts

The ones amongst us who have a good memory know why you're slating Parker for letting Koleosho leave, you spent a good chunk of last year saying Anthony was rubbish and Koleosho should have played instead of him.

It wasn't an exaggeration on your part - you clearly thought it at the time and have once again been proven wrong.Mattster wrote: ↑Sun Aug 24, 2025 11:24 amThat's clearly an exaggeration and in the contect of JBL being available for £1.5m. A quick check of your opinions on Anthony in 2024 show they are pretty much in line with what I was saying then too if you want the receipts? At the same time I was posting I'd be fine paying £5m for him the idea of signing him to replace Koleosho made you "shudder", for example.boyyanno wrote: ↑Sun Aug 24, 2025 11:30 am![]()

Anyway, I don't even know how this thread which should be positive about Anthony's really good performance yesterday is being dragged by you and multiple others into something negative and trying to bait me to be negative.
I'll be happy to discuss further on the other thread, let's leave this one to be positive for the player, eh?

Re: Anthony
I really like Anthony and don’t understand any of the negativity he has faced. His work rate is phenomenal, he is so trustworthy he must be a manager’s dream. His touch is as good as probably anyone I’ve seen in a Burnley shirt. He creates chances and scores goals. What’s not to like?
To have the desire and stamina to outsprint their defenders in the 88th minute after spending much of the second half working tirelessly off the ball pressing and covering their wide man was outstanding. And anyone who’s played football will know how difficult that first touch with his weak foot must have been with tired legs. I didn’t fancy him to finish the chance having rounded the keeper with two covering defenders but what an absolute first class finish.
Seems like a great bloke too and plays with a smile on his face. My brother met him wandering around Stoke Newington, London, where his family must be based, and he was happy to stop for a chat and a photo.
