Do they seriously expect hundreds or thousands of people to turn up two hours before kick-off simply to welcome the arrival of the team coach?
Deluded.
But, as has been said above, it’s all an attempt to get people there early to spend money on rubbish and overpriced food and drink.
I know hahaha they’ll be about 25 kids there. I think they expect it to be like the open top bus parade these yanks.

This is very much something for parents with young kids … and in the fan zone it’s very much set up for parents to be able to have a pint whilst the kids can take part in activities
So if you have young ones but still want to have a couple of pints …
Getting down to watch the players in and maybe getting some autographs then into the fan zone for a pint or 2 whist the kids are taking part in activities then it’s a great thing
It’s quite clear that this message board is not the target market for the most part…

I'm sure they're seeing it as 'win - win' if they're also easing out the generation of complaining, non-spending, older fans.

Will they not lose quite a lot of money with the away fans going in BCC instead of straight onto the ground and spending? I can't see enough Burnley fans changing their usual pre match ritual to compensate that loss.
Will they not build, or put a tent up, for an away Fanzone at the bottom of Ormerod yard

First game at the Turf of the season and I should be buzzing. Changed seats, changed ticketing and I can honestly say I'm not. At least I have the opportunity to see players leave the coach if I turn up 2 hours early....

And this clarification on how Belvedere Road will be closed:
It will be stewarded, so depending why you need to go down will depend on if they let you. Residents and parking for cricket club will be fine. The road will be fully closed from cricket club to harry Potts way for the coaches.

I don't see why elderly and immobile fans still can't use ormerod yard, it's not like it's going to kick off or something. Everyone else can walk round.

I completely agree, it isn't like they aren't using stewards anyway. I guess the issue might be fans that decide they have the right to use it anyway even if they have no physical issues.
I noticed yesterday that the actual Cricket Club entrance (not Omerod Road) still has a Turf Moor sign on it, so I assume there is a way in still via that route.

Could easily have punched a hole in the wall near the Fanzone ( leading to Holcombe ) and fitted some large double gates . Ok increased footfall through the estate but it’s only once a fortnight for a short period . I still think this happen .

SOS - I walked behind the Jimmy McIlroy yesterday and it would take minimum work to open up an exit to the left of the memorial garden, further up if needed. It is just little things like this that helps alleviates a lot of the noise from the changes implemented.

Certainly not a case of “I’m alright Jack” but I sit in the BL with my elderly and “not too steady on his feet” dad.
We park around the tennis club each week as it’s closest to the ground. Are we now going to have to navigate our way back through the away fans each week?
Bad enough with the old system when some Coventry moron wanted to fight us a couple of seasons ago.
Going to be interesting to see how this works out today.

Ive been meaning to ask, we invested a not small sum on facilities for less mobile supporters. If people are sufficiently impaired for this to be an issue, have they looked at relocating into these facilities, should capacity allow?

Grounds like City are half full of tourists now who just want to see the big stars. Apart from a few kids will never catch on at Burnley.

My 17 year old niece is in a wheelchair and comes from the Leyland road area ( pushed by her pregnant older sister ) she said the walkway is very uneven near the memorial park so will have to walk all the way around the ground .

You never know the kids might be well up for this especially when the big 6 away teams arrive at the same spot.
Why do we have to pour scorn over this small matter when there are bigger issues that need addressing.

So if you’re disabled or simply getting old and find walking challenging you’re a miserable melt.
Ok.

Came down early to the Fanzone to give it a try. They have stopped doing food/pies inside completely so you have to go outside for that and can bring it back in. Drinks are still cheaper in the “early bird period”. Walked across with my daughter to see the players arrive and it took the stewards a bit to work out how to do the barriers but they got there in the end and I’d expect it to be smoother going forward. They brought Bertie and Bella out for the kids and handed out some flags which was good I thought. A fair number of people were there and I think it’s a decent addition for the families/kids really. I expect they will be doing the same with the away coaches as well.
Being at the Cricketfield end of the James Hargreaves upper it will be interesting to see how long it takes us to get back to the car (parked on the estate behind so will have to go via the memorial gardens pinch point)….

I’m guessing this players entry is a temporary setup until the new fan area is completed on the corner of the Bob Lord/Cricketfield?

Surely a gate can be put in bigger than the 3' wide entrance to the ground from the Memorial Garden ... will be a nightmare ...
Also redirected a dozen away fans following me to the memorial garden

At City though there is absolutely bugger all else around the ground. Turf Moor is practically in the town centre, so the need to be at the ground early is pretty much negated. Many I time I've left the town centre at 14:45 and been in the ground for kick off

Come 200 miles to be refused entry with my digital card for CFS - absolute sh!t show. Been sent to ticket office with everyone else refused entry.
I notice Alan isn’t doing any walkabouts today.
The chap who I tried to reason with at the turnstile had to get security to escort me away because I was angry.

There is nothing worse than a lap of the ground altogether get in the queue, followed by a return lap to the long Q for ticket office, followed by another lap to get to your seat

Arguably was better. Certainly no worse.
Not having the away coaches makes a massive difference to Harry Potts Way.

Wouldn’t rely on anything digital. Just take the physical card.
I asked for one, via email, and over the phone and also in the ticket office today and got told that we won’t receive one! Proper sh!t show

That’s so bloody crap, I’d have lost the plot as well
Thing is, I was angry but calm. But because I wanted to have my say and he kept talking over me so I raised my voice asking him to be quiet. Apparently that’s offensive behaviour and he needed security to try and intimidate me more. I will be making a formal complaint about the way I was treated, but it won’t get me anywhere I don’t think.

I can't say I noticed any real difference when leaving the ground.
As someone has already said, the away coaches not being parked on Harry Potts Way makes up for the increased footfall.
