New PA system

Post by Whitgord » Sat Aug 23, 2025 6:53 pm

I’ve complained for long enough so credit where credit is due. The new speakers for the PA system have made it so much better. It can’t have been an easy job getting those speaker arrays up on the edge of the longside roof. I could actually hear everything so much easier in the Bob Lord. Thanks to all concerned with the upgrade.

I noticed an improvement too, but I wonder if they could be placed horizontally instead of vertically?

The music is far too loud. You can’t hear when speaking with people next to you before the game. The music played when the players came out was ear busting. Half time music, again too loud. I was trying to catch up with people I haven’t seen since last season but there simply was no chance of that. It’s shocking,

At least they have a system now that’s fit for purpose. Maybe they can turn it down a bit now.

It was too loud in the Longside lower at times last season already. Today it was uncomfortably loud at one point as the players were coming out, and even my watch popped up with a warning about damage to my hearing because of exposure to >100 decibel noise.
There was absolutely no chance of having a conversation with anyone.

Do you need to have a conversation while the players are walking out?

It was impossible to have a conversation at any time (when the PA was playing), not just during the walk out.

I certainly appreciated the new PA.. apart from that goal music!

So cringe, I remember when Blackburn used the same goal music.. so cringe. Anybody in England apart from Norwich using that goal music is wrong... just doesn't sound right at all.

They all eventually end up stop using it, unfortunately for us we're still in the early days of using it.

You’re wrong. The music has been far too loud for several seasons. There was never a chance of having any long conversation with friends around you. Not being able to hear the PA previously was a completely different problem and a separate issue to the noise of the music being played.

Just because we now have a PA system capable of broadcasting clear messages does not make the club obliged to blast fans with overly loud music.

Just because you *can* do something doesn't mean you have.

Also, nobody at all complained, "the music isn't loud enough." We all said, "you can't hear what's been said when there's an announcement or interview."

For the sake of all the people of neurodiversity, who are sensitive to loud noise, I hope the club turn the music down.

It was all going fine in the BL until the Ross Wallace insightful interview- I have no clue what he said.

Not sure the system has improved in there or we could just hear it in a clearer way from other stands.

2nd half it also sounded like we had a drummer.

I think that just down to how he was holding the microphone rather than the PA system as the interviewer was very clear.

Just in case you couldn't hear Mr Shouty previously, you certainly can now.

This. Absolutely. No idea who Mr Shouty was introducing until Ross Wallace came on screen. Not much sign of any improvements to the system. Shambolic for a Premier League ground, and then of course, the floodlights. :o

I wear hearing aids and they were screaming in my ears with feedback it was so loud. My ears are still ringing. I actually found it painful.

Was way, way too loud in my position, to the point of being physically painful to the eardrum when Mr Shouty got going at half time. Obviously there are only a few of them so if you happen to be closer you’ll get it in the neck, so to speak.

It’ll have to be turned down a tad. But the system upgrade in general I'm in approval of.
