We need a return to Arcade Fire.

As posted above it’s called “Ecstasy of Gold” from the film The Good,The Bad and the Ugly, taken from the scene where “The Ugly” (Eli Wallach) is frantically looking for a grave which contains buried gold. Great scene from one of my favourite films.

Metallica have also recorded a cover version/tribute to the piece of music.

Ecstasy of Gold was used for a good few years as the song played just prior to the walkout. I’m guessing it was 10-15 years ago?

I was always a fan of Arcade Fire, but i did enjoy todays choice more than anything we had last season.
Thanks for the answers everyone

Great song. Used at the world series of poker at the start of every tournament. Brilliant choice.

Enjoyed it too but no need to play it again in the build up to KO after the teams had been announced.

I’m assuming we dropped Arcade Fire after the multiple sexual assault allegations against the lead-singer?

Also thought it was a great choice. Hopefully they stick with it. Seemed to change the song every few games last season.

They might turn it down a touch (not sure how young kids might find music that loud) but I thought the choice of music was quite effective and the tannoy is clearly in much better shape than last season

Thought I was at a Metallica gig. Top tune, needs starting a bit before the teams come out like they do with z cars at Everton.

A new Netflix documentary on the Dallas Cowboys of the 80's and 90's came out this month - it features 'Ecstacy of Gold' in the first episode when the team runs out on the field.

Thought it was ok though not a big deal either way tbh . Though they really need to cut it 30 secs before actual KO as this really kills the final build up and the ground ends up in silence . As for the goal music the second we score just no . It totally kills and drowns the natural celebration noise . If these corporate clowns MUST play goal music , surely leave it 10 secs after goal ?

The huge multiple speaker blocks hanging from the roof of the North stand have something to do with the loudness ... have been to Heavy Metal Gigs that weren't as loud as yesterday 🤣

Great choice of walkout song, albeit a bit too loud.

Also love the violin video pre-match - seems to have taken over from Times Like These, or did I just miss that?

Ah ok, I only got in at the last minute unlike usual, glad Times Like These is still played

Couldn’t fault the majority of the new aspects to be honest, even though I am a NU2 season ticket holder - the bottleneck also wasn’t as bad as feared

Metallica have been opening their sets with it for years.
Lets hope some more metal influence sets in. Steel toecap football boots. Spiked sweat bands. Trooper on draft. That kinda thing.
