Thankfully they hid it behind a bus.
Re: Keirby Planning Application
I wonder if they will reopen the Swiss bar underneath. Used to be full of fit birds.

Re: Keirby Planning Application
The Long Bar was a great place to be at the weekend in the sixties.
At the town end of the bar was a locked glass door leading to the hotel.
One Friday night I remember seeing Jimmy Greaves and other spurs players through the glass door, looking like they’d rather be in the bar drinking Masseys bitter and talking to the ladies.
I think a lot of team’s stayed there before a match
I met my wife in the Long Bar a few years later.

Having attended the latest open day at The Empire Theatre recently, I hope you have a few years left! Speaking to the volunteers I did mentioned it would be good if the same guy who has done Real Food Hall/Zanzibar and now Kierby, gor involved in their project. It could be a real asset tonthe town.Claretnick wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 4:01 pmIt's got to be a huge improvement on the eyesore we have had to put up with for years. The Calico office building directly opposite is a dark brown brick structure and maybe that's influenced the colour of the cladding.
Yeah can see it being full on matchdays hopefully more PL seasons.
Just hope to see the Empire Theatre open at the opposite end of St James's Street before I shuffle off this world.
Walking past the eye-sore of a building twice a day, I have nothing but respect for the people doing this.

The Rosehhill house in Manchester Road was our go to hotel when we drove up from Berkshire. Ruined by the owners wanting it to be a wine bar but on the verge of reopening. It had a decent restaurant too.We stayed at the Premier inn a few times.Ok with a decent breakfast at reasonable prices.

I wonder if they will be advertising for the ‘night porter’ jobs once again?

I can't speak for Burnley BC, but a number of town planners prefer not to have buildings taller than the highest civic building.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 23, 2025 8:05 amI think they've got more than enough as it is to be honest.

Re: Keirby Planning Application
The Rose Hill House hotel never knew what it was meant to be.
It tried to be a boutique establishment but with rather strange decor including a rotting witch.
Proposed itself to be a high end restaurant following being a crap tapas bar.
Also attempted being a wedding venue which was also a failure.
The place itself was architecturally smart, well located and could have done well if someone had some vision.
Is it for sale / sold ?

Correct, as is Tony - the guy who owns Petty Real Estate Agents decided to branch out into coffee (Real Coffee Bean), food (Real Food Hall), a cinema (Vault Cinemas) and a hotel (Above Hotels)
He’s now bought the Keirby. He's called Chris Hagan

I didn't know his name Simps but he's buying up half the town by the looks of it.
And with his name I've found this link
