Club set to ban U16s from Cricket Field stand?
Club set to ban U16s from Cricket Field stand?
Had an email from the club this morning saying they cannot move my daughter on to a spare junior season ticket we have within our group as "we cannot accept any new supporters under the age of 16" in the Cricket Field Stand.....
When did this new policy come into force?
Their only option is to move us which isn't feasible due to the large group we go on with.

I don't get this - have you already got the ticket or are you trying to buy a new one? If you already have it, why doesn't your daughter just use it?

I was always under the understanding U16's couldn't go in the CFS ?

I presume she'll want the loyalty points and it going against her account, rather than the person who it is already assigned to. SO 350 pts for the season ticket, and whatever points she's acrued already, plus the 5 pts for each game for using our all new digital ticket.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 4:02 pmI don't get this - have you already got the ticket or are you trying to buy a new one? Have to agree with this. See a lot on social media media about how the CFS is the corner stone of our home support and atmosphere. There couldn’t have been much more than 100 in there last night the whole attendance was dissapointing (expected unfortunately) but dissapointing. Back when i started going in the late 80s and esrly 90swhatever the attendance the longside always seemed to busy vociferous.
Side note pleasing to see SP had the whole first team supporting the lads on the pitch.
Re: Club set to ban U16s from Cricket Field stand?
I thought the rest of the ground was about as expected. We've had lower than that in early round cup ties, it just didn't use to look as empty because we'd close the jimmy mac upper at least. I'm not sure why we are opening it for those games tbh.KlyBfc wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 4:30 pmHave to agree with this. The attendance in the cricket field end was beyond pathetic though. I was trying to work out if they'd closed it to burnley fans when I arrived. So much for them being our most passionate fans.

Re: Club set to ban U16s from Cricket Field stand?
Possibly due to that if people in the CFS hadn't claimed their own seat when they first went on sale, when then anyone could buy a ticket, I'm guessing that tickets weren't available in the CFS. Hope that makes sense!Goliath wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 4:36 pmI thought the rest of the ground was about as expected. Not sure why we opened the full ground last night? Money down the drain on stewards, opening bars/catering etc.

When tickets first went on sale our CFS tickets had been pre-assigned to us. I didn't actually go back online to buy them until a couple of days before at which point they weren't available so I went for seats in the BLS for a change.

Re: Club set to ban U16s from Cricket Field stand?
I would think a good third of our regulars travel considerable distances, at great expense. A home game with a reserve side against a Championship weakened side isn’t the most enticing.

Must admit i planned on going but after a heavy weekend on the beer and long day at work watching it on TV became too tempting.

I certainly don't think I'm in the overwhelming minority, and I suspect many others travel much further than me
I meet clarets all around the country, and indeed the world. I'd be very tempted to say that for a non-cosmopolitan place, we have the most well traveled fans

FWIW … we have STs in the CFS and travel from Southbourne near Bournemouth.. (I suspect we are the exception) .. will be tough to get to a lot of games this season but wanted to keep our tickets …

Re: Club set to ban U16s from Cricket Field stand?
I suspect it is because tickets in the CFS cannot be transferred to other supporters - which has always been the case and then when you combine that with the fact that we now have to use digital tickets in the CFS it becomes clear as to why its difficult to share tickets in the CFS now. Previously we would just pass on our season card, now you need to trust someone with a digital device - which is going to be unlikely.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 4:02 pmI don't get this - have you already got the ticket or are you trying to buy a new one? There are probably ways around the digital ticket issue, but none that are easy to implement, for example I think if you screenshot your ticket I think the digital ticket detects that action on your phone and marks it as "used" so it will fail at the turnstile, this is not a fact but something I experienced last season when trying to use the digital ticket from my Burnley App Ticket wallet - with the poor signal at the ground you'd think you'd be able to screenshot it though, which is why I tried that and subsequently failed. When I didn't screenshot the ticket, it worked as it should when I had a signal.

A member of our family lives in Bournemouth and also has a season ticket in the Cricket Field stand.

I have an under 12 season ticket for my son who is 10 and I now pay my friend for his sons under 18s ticket as he doesn't want to come on anymore.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 4:02 pmI don't get this - have you already got the ticket or are you trying to buy a new one? I pay the same price for both the U12 and U18.
In a year or 2, the U18 ticket will become effectively an adult, I tried to swap this back in Jan/Feb and kept being told a variety of different reasons why they could not swap it in the ticket office on that day. I was even told to go and set up a clarets number for my daughter (7) so they could swap it once the new seats were sorted. A few weeks back I was then advised in the ticket office to email in as only one person in the club was dealing with the CFS.
The response this week was it is now not swappable as my daughter is under 16. Their only solution was to move us to a different part of the ground which is not an option as we have sat there for many many years with friends and family and I don't want to move.
I wanted to get the ticket in her name so that when we go to away games etc not only can she start building up her own points, but also so we have access to tickets pricing at the right age.

Understand now and I know of someone else in a very similar position. It is becoming increasingly difficult to negotiate ticketing etc. at our club and no two people ever seem to get the same explanation.gwills18 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 9:56 amI have an under 12 season ticket for my son who is 10 and I now pay my friend for his sons under 18s ticket as he doesn't want to come on anymore.

Out of curiosity, why is the ticketing policy different for one stand over the anothers?

Re: Club set to ban U16s from Cricket Field stand?
I was there as was my pal.
It was empty to be fair. Many reasons why people didn't attend as above. .......
Unattractive tie.
Midweek.
On TV.
Distance.
Cost.
Sat in other areas of the ground.
Could even be, I dare say, as I know with a couple of my mates, being a bit disillusioned with things at the moment. Many in the CFS aren't happy who I spoke to on Saturday and since with our new arrangements.
What I will say is this; to every little dig at the CFS support above, if there is one area of supporters who are most missed / would be missed if they weren't there all together it would be the CFS, as no noise is generated by the rest of the ground at all.

Got a funny feeling we are all going to get moved out in time. You don't seem to ever be able to move into the CFS, I know people who have tried and been told no.
Not sure how it works but we have certainly got less room than we had before p/sqm.
