Could look it up, but thought I'd ask on here.

Re: Purple Aki
Some proper characters in town over the years.
Is the man with the ghetto blaster who rides the bike still knocking about?

Re: Purple Aki
Perhaps character in the sense of the likes of Noonan climbing the wheel as opposed to "he's a decent lad".Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Wed Aug 27, 2025 6:42 pmI wouldn't call him a character.

Infamous character is maybe more accurate.
Re: Purple Aki
I once saw him in Leeds train station and I've never been as starstruck in my life.

So this is a thread about a weirdo bodybuilder, who some describe as a character, who has served time for touching the muscles of other bodybuilders, and has unfortunately been found deceased. Reight then.

Re: Purple Aki
Slightly more sinister than that. He escaped a man slaughter charge in 1986 when a bloke he was chasing was killed by an electric fence at a train station.
He basically got away with it because unprofessional behaviour by the police.

Yes, he lives in a flat on Yorkshire Street, he was outside his home entertaining the passing crowds before the Sunderland game.

Re: Purple Aki
I genuinely thought he’d died 5 or so years ago. Wasn’t he put in hospital after either getting beaten or tased by the rozzers about 10 years ago? Think he may have won a lawsuit over the incident IIRC

Re: Purple Aki
There's been many fake death stories related to the big man, but I think it's finally come to fruition. Yeah, he's sued the police a few times and received pretty substantial damages at a result. I don't think he was attacked by them, but it was more in how he was targetted and treated, including the racial undertones used. His Wikipedia is worth a read.
